T K I bought a brand new 3.0 Supercharged XE in 2016 but legally rejected it within four months because of hopeless build quality and, most of all, a totally functioning InControl Touch Pro infotainment system I went back to Mercedes (after having three before the Jaguar) with a C43 AMG Coupe which was also not good (jumping front tyres and juddering wipers - both well documented in UA-cam videos). I ended up with a brand new 2018 BMW 440i Coupe which is easily the best car I’ve had; totally reliable and the best to drive.
Jag interior is so underwhelming dashboard nowhere near as good, questionable design. Otherwise BMW is superior in build quality, performance and handling.
Jean, speaking of that Corsa Sport, if you like the car, as much as I do, RPMtv did a show on it earlier this quarter, so go check it out on their UA-cam channel. One comment on that car, i do believe its a little pricey, and i do honestly think the extra R20k is worth while if one considers it can buy a brand new Fiesta ST. Use-it, don't Use-it.
+Henro van Rooyen I actually commented without having watched the video XD......This presenter is good but the normal one is epic. + I could only find a review of the Cosmo on RPMtv. I'm not looking to purchase a Corsa but it is one of the nicest new cars I have driven in a long time. I'll stick with my Lumina SS until Chevy brings out something similar or else I'll just have to defect to Ford for a Mustang.
I am very familiar with all of the videos on the cars.coza channel and i like all of them mr. Taylor, including yours. So tell Ciro to shave his beard ;) there is a new kid on the block! All the best!
Unusual for me as a Jag FUNatic! Bmw took this one. But while the design DNA in bmw has been static and tired for years now, Jaguar is a lot fresher and inspired, they just need to stop playing it safe with conservativeness and ROCK it out!
It behaves odly. 1st touch has a lag while all following touches are way more responsive. I guess it was a thing back then. Like "Yeeees Sir! I aknowledged your pressing of the screen and I shall now commence your command. Please stand by" accompanied by a fanfare and a lightshow except there is none of that. You just have to imagine it while you wait that 1st one second. ..or the CPU is just simply on a dynamic clock. Mostly on sleep (low clock) and once you need it it overclocks itself for better performance.
i am nor bmw fan but in jag in some places they put werry cheep plastic in audi merc or bmw this not is happend on firs look jag interior looks better but when you looks clouse there is some lag in build quality or material best interior have c class or a4 second bmw third jag but but for my passat interior is on top 3 specially in hi wersion
4:29 at BMW everything is gonna cost you extra. It has been their politics since ages. Rumour has it that one day you will have to pay extra if you want your badge to say BMW. Otherwise you just get the BM or just B.
Herakles well good thing its a 335. The N55 can pretty reliably hold up to a tune. I bet it would feel real nice if you added like 30 extra torque to it
The BMW engine didn't even make an impression with it's sound, yet the Jaguar which clearly sounded better got negative marks because it didn't sound as amazing as the F TYPE Sports car? Where is the logic. The Jaguar looks better aesthetically, and more importantly it's a little more upmarket than a BMW in my opinion.
+wonderwall135 06:12 - I said my legs are not touching the driver's seat, whereas in the Jaguar, my legs were mashed up against it. You can see I'm more comfortable.
+David Taylor Yeah but did you see him when he was in the front seat his legs were all the way up on the steering wheel instead of a comfortable spot which let him have more leg room in the back. If he put the driver's seat all the way up on the jag he would also have more room in the back.

Id like to see drag start/race between these cars, to many talking, ok, but these top models ale about engines, so whitch one i realy faster? And I like to see more dynamics test, acceleratin 0-100kmh, or 50-150, or accel. from low rpm on one gear... more street tests plese! :-)
Bothered me as well, especially since I drive a legit manual transmission equipped car. I think he said it because you can put the car into sport and shift it manually using the paddles🤷♂️
Infiniti and Lexus you see how the BMW and Jaguar trunk function? And if you haven't have it yet as part of an option in your cars yet I hope you do soon.
iv driven the f type and the exhaust note was pretty good and the car was fun but i also own a bolt on bmw 440i and i have to say the bmw is a special car, especially with some tasteful modifications making about 400hp 400+tq
All I had to do was add a CAI and just a flow master exhaust which cost with installation 550 dollars, into my Supercharged Jag and i was at 400 hp. I bought a Jaguar 35T AWD and after the additions i beat my friends 2017 Bmw M3 in a race from 0 to 100 mph. I tested Mercedes, Bmw, Audi and Jaguar and no doubt i went with the best.
It time consumers went on strike now. These car manufacturers are ripping us out. R850 000 for a 3 series even if it loaded. At least r720 000 for a bmw 340i fully spec. As for the jag i gve up you paying over a million for a fully spec one.
Lower costs than good old Deutschland. There is also a BMW factory in South Carolina: www.bmwusfactory.com/manufacturing/factory-products/plant-spartanburg-vehicle-models/ That SC plant is where the Z4 was made until production in June this year.
Damn, these cars are eye-wateringly expensive! 😳 Close to R1m!!! They're pretty cars but the price is absurd, especially considering that I can buy a 320i and make it look exactly like that. Fine, the 340 will outperform the 320i but where you gonna fully enjoy the driving dynamics of that car legally? It certainly ain't a track toy. I'd rather buy a Golf R or a S3 and use the change to pay lobola 😂. Nice review though...where's that other chap who usually does these?
+Pakisa Tsekiso 320i has a low output 2.0T engine, which VW/Audi does much better if that's the size you're looking at. Who would buy a BMW without the straight six?
+Hubscharber problem with VW/Audi is that with similar engine output they are slower than a bimmer. I have a L4 engine F20 and i like it very much, and it is fast enough for me.
Hubscharber I would. I already lease a 320d xDrive and it has got enough power to have fun with. But do not go with the 320i. 320d has got 190hp and 400Nm of torque, you don’t need anything else unless you are a sissy bitch.
Jaguar all the way...Bmw is on its way out give Jaguar is taking over this segment! and i don't know where you got your info from but the jaguar is significantly cheaper than the bmw.
Manco Kwan it still FEELS better than an XE. after a couple of years the XE will be scratched all over (just like the mercedes C piano gloss center consoles) unless you can opt for wood/aluminum/matte plastic instead of gloss plastic, it'll stay looking cheap.
I have tested both. The Jaguars interior is poorly assembled and finished (for this segment)... if you look at leather stitching for example you'll see that it's very, very approximate and for a car that price it's unacceptable.
I've owned both, unlike this guy. The jag is a lot more fun. Rly impressed by the handling and the chassi and the looks get a lot more ayballs. The problem with the jag tho is that it's not made in Germany, the build quality is not a match for the bmw.
While the 340i is, let's say, the Rolling Stones, the Jag is still a cover-band. A good one, no doubt. But at the end of the day, you want the original.
your rear seat comparison is bullshit. I'm no fan of either car for the record but that was hardly fair or transparent. Look at how crunched his legs are when he's sitting in the front seat of the BMW, then how conveniently they don't show the same angle of much much leg room he has in the back seat. Hmmmm.
I thought I was the only one wondering what was going on. I will say however that everyone says the BMW has a little more room, but they are both terrible in this class. The C Class and A6 has more room around the back.
+The Stulla King I dont think the A6 can be compared to this xe and 3 series if you're going to compare something how about the A4 the entry level for audi not the A6
340i suck... right out the damn box they need a recall gj bmw when they 1st came out i remember doing recall after recall after recall on the new ones off the truck at our dealer. bmw no longer cares about quality only marketing and money. i mean yes money flows the business but your business is customers and they work hard for these machines, show them some respect and give them a quality product so they can spend more time on the road and not in the service drive.

The jag is def the hottest car in its class! Just beautiful!

That touch screen seems to be lagging. On 4:58 he touched the next arrow it took about 1 second to go to the next page.
It behaves odly. 1st touch has a lag while all following touches are way more responsive. I guess it was a thing back then. Like "Yeeees Sir! I love BMW 340i , the car is very awesome
Jaguar is so much more special than boring that BMW. White or suede leather in the Jag makes the interior a very classy place to cruise in.
+Viking Power And it will only take you a year to change your route on the Nav. The MMI in the Jag is so bad, haha.
i am nor bmw fan but in jag in some places they put werry cheep plastic in audi merc or bmw this not is happend on firs look jag interior looks better but when you looks clouse there is some lag in build quality or material best interior have c class or a4 second bmw third jag but but for my passat interior is on top 3 specially in hi wersion
+Kamil Piotr Kozaczenko RIP english :D
Jag interior looks really basic and cheap compared to the BMW, I think the BMW looks better and it’s more family friendly.
in 5:43 - your seat is too closed to steering wheel. Look at your knees :D Of course there is more space at rear seats now.
BMW all the way
4:29 at BMW everything is gonna cost you extra. It has been their politics since ages. Rumour has it that one day you will have to pay extra if you want your badge to say BMW. Otherwise you just get the BM or just B.
why didn't you show your knee inside the BMW while comparing the leg room?
you said the 340 sounded good but the jaguar clearly sounded better yet you still gave it negative remarks lol
Great work David. You need a sunglasses sponsor otherwise it's a great video. Nice comparison.
I own a 2011 335 , when I got a 340
Loaner I wash shocked how fast it felt - my car felt slow getting back in it
Herakles well good thing its a 335. The N55 can pretty reliably hold up to a tune. I bet it would feel real nice if you added like 30 extra torque to it
Yea that's the worst feeling when you realize how slow your cars is after testing another vehicle.lol
I love the 340i. Most people here in Europe would take the diesel over the petrol and I'm sure same goes for South Africans
+Kufre Udobong Nope. But why do Europeans like Diesels? They sound like shit.
Urban Chaos 2.0 It beats me fam. I hate diesels so bad.
+Urban Chaos 2.0 And they spew out shit
+Urban Chaos 2.0 Because they can't afford to run petrol cars.
Urban Chaos 2.0 Diesel cars has got more torque, that’s why.
Jaguar XE 35T Supercharged any day of the week.
Just made that decision myself and I couldn’t be happier
bit suspicious that you didn't show the leg room on the bmw. bias?
+wonderwall135 06:12 - I said my legs are not touching the driver's seat, whereas in the Jaguar, my legs were mashed up against it. You can see I'm more comfortable.
+David Taylor Yeah but did you see him when he was in the front seat his legs were all the way up on the steering wheel instead of a comfortable spot which let him have more leg room in the back. If he put the driver's seat all the way up on the jag he would also have more room in the back.

jaguar the best
Jaguar supar car
864,000 rand (South African currency) is $60,000 in US currency.
nice vid!
1:46 where is the manual gear box?
exposer dozer That BMW has a automatic gearbox...
Id like to see drag start/race between these cars, to many talking, ok, but these top models ale about engines, so whitch one i realy faster? And I like to see more dynamics test, acceleratin 0-100kmh, or 50-150, or accel. from low rpm on one gear... more street tests plese! :-)
Hey what is the name of the music at the end ? Appreciated!
Jaguar anytime :-)
whats insurance like on the XE?
125 a month
that front seat looks so flimsy on the jag @5:20
Sorry it's not the range toping model of the 3-series. The range topper is the M3.
+M DOSD FYI M3 doesnt really belong to the 3-series. It belongs to the M series. The engine is totally difference.
Were yourll test driving the cars on Cape Town roads?
+Adidasp4 Hello, yes we took both cars up Franschhoek Pass in the Western Cape.
+David Taylor I would love to meet up with you guys, I'm from Durban
+Adidasp4 We've got some fan/follower events planned for 2016 and we love chatting to our users. Watch this space!
+David Taylor thanks so much, please keep me updated
Ultimate driving machine
where is this guy now?
Do you want him to do another video?
"Got the car in full attack mode, Manual gear box" But me sees automatic shifter. What am i missing? 1:44
Bothered me as well, especially since I drive a legit manual transmission equipped car. I think he said it because you can put the car into sport and shift it manually using the paddles🤷♂️
Considering these were the performance models I'm surprised you didn't mention anything about how the performance compares between the two cars.
Because the Jag would embarrass it with a 0 to 60 in just 4.5 seconds.
I love bmw

How tall are you?
Seem to me that at the end the tester chose the BMW not because of the overall performance but because of the cheaper price..
Pity about the price difference. Maybe the strong pound is the problem. Or are BMWs cheaper in South Africa because they are made there?
Mark Patterson what? Made there, you must be mad!
Lol. Like this place:www.bmwplant.co.za
Mark Patterson weird, why is it they do that?
Lower costs than good old Deutschland.
There is also a BMW factory in South Carolina: www.bmwusfactory.com/manufacturing/factory-products/plant-spartanburg-vehicle-models/

BMW wins, again. What a surprise.

that red gives you an automatic 5 BPH...
@@ool3062 You blind
BMW wins everytime,thks.
Jaguar all the way...Bmw is on its way out give Jaguar is taking over this segment! and i don't know where you got your info from but the jaguar is significantly cheaper than the bmw.
Unfortunately due to government taxes and a horrendous exchange rate, the Jaguar isuch more expensive than it should be here in South Africa.
The Jaguar feels so cheap with that glossblack interior. it's a shame
+MidiFire lol BMW have the same interior from 228i to range topping 7 series. fuckin bull shit
Manco Kwan it still FEELS better than an XE. after a couple of years the XE will be scratched all over (just like the mercedes C piano gloss center consoles) unless you can opt for wood/aluminum/matte plastic instead of gloss plastic, it'll stay looking cheap.
MidiFire JaguaR all the way thats so right but in South Africa Jaguars are almost double the price to an average BMW
This comparison really does not make sense. Are you going to decide which performance sedan is better based on rear leg room. That just absurd.
You are not comparing like for like in the rear. You sat in the middle in the Jaguar yet you sat in the outside seat in the BMW. How biased is that.
Where is Drag race??
Hopefully the new Alfa Romeo Guilia won't be that pricey (as the jag)
How much did BMW pay you?
BMW looks so bland compared to Jag.
XE looks good but it doesn't look modern. Especially those taillights look old fashioned and chubby. Even Toyota has more modern taillights.
XE
whichever doesn't get me carjacked lol
I have tested both. The Jaguars interior is poorly assembled and finished (for this segment)... if you look at leather stitching for example you'll see that it's very, very approximate and for a car that price it's unacceptable.

JLR have missed a trick with the XE. Terrific opportunity to climb to top spot missed.

+SneakyBrownGuy you are correct, that was a mistake. I was suppose to say New A4 which has more room and features.
He did just put his leg up, BMW has got a lot of legroom.
Yea bimmers are the hot machines.
How is the BMW cheaper? it`s much more expensive than the Jag.
+RaGeAlucard I see you have declared a war on numbers...650 is smaller than 900, hence cheaper.
+Arven Tahtyan That might depend on the country you're living in. Not only people from South Africa watch those reviews. ;)
I guess someone failed maths class at school
20" wheels on the XE? Too big - ride will suffer and bent wheels will happen every month.
340i suck... right out the damn box they need a recall gj bmw when they
1st came out i remember doing recall after recall after recall on the
new ones off the truck at our dealer. bmw no longer cares about quality
only marketing and money. i mean yes money flows the business but your
business is customers and they work hard for these machines, show them
some respect and give them a quality product so they can spend more time
on the road and not in the service drive.
Jag is better , this guy is family of Rod Bearings the owner of bmw lol
BMW dash etc looks very dated!
so boring, almost fell asleep. motor trend has much better review
Stopped watching the video as soon as I saw Ciro wasn't the presenter.
Lol same headlights
3 series eat injectors like no tomorrow
apparently

Once a thief
Dress a little better, like a presenter 👌. Otherwise good job!
jaguar is not match for germans.
Besides, jaguar is not british anymore. It's Indian.
the 340 looks like its been budgeted, looks like a heap of shitty plastic lol jaguar beats it anyday
.........Jaguar = Class. BMW = (we all know what...)
