Audi TT HBA High beam assist retrofit (Mk2 8J A3 S3 8P) pt 2: Indicator cruise control stalk upgrade
Вставка

- Continueing on from the first video of installing the Audi TT Mk2 HBA rear view mirror itself - you also need to install the non-latching version of the indicator stalk. They tend to come with the cruise control stalk second hand as in my video but you onl really need the top indicator half. You will see the difference of the action of the stalks at the start of the video meaning latching VS non-latching (or momentary).
This job involves:
0:48 removing airbag
2:30 removing flat bottom steering wheel
3:06 removing steering column cowl trim
4:05 removing steering wheel control module & steering angle sensor (facelifts won't have that sensor)
4:28 removing and upgrading indicator / cruise control stalks
from there on you go back the way you came.
Hope you find this helpful for upgrading to the high beam assist kit.

Fantastic video . Thank you so much . I’m about to upgrade and fit a cruise control unit to my MK2 TT TFSI . Question would I need to use a tool to update the ecu ? Or is it just plug in and the car recognises it ?
Thanks DP!
You'll need VCDS or something that can change coding to so the system knows cruise control is installed and activated.
Se puede instalar control de crucero en un audi tt 2010 mk2
Nice , now I am really curious with the "trick" module :). I am dreading the BCM upgrade because of the wiring :)
Yeah it's a little Arduino type device. Turns out I need to use a different SWCM as none of the Audi ones are known to support Special Features. Almost there ...
@@ianpgonzaga if you switch to VW CECM there are problems with cluster/climate control illumination , that is one of the main reasons I did not switch to a VW CECM for now still not really decided what direction to go in to :). Looking forward though to see your build :)
@@0beed0 so far I have the little test "truck" module which VCDS can see. However the SWCM doesn't know it's there and it interacts through that.
I do have a BCM from an Audi on standby along with the 3 plugs with pigtails should the first way not work. The little module opens up a module called 3D Special functions.
@@ianpgonzaga is that a public thing ? I have done the pigtail thing done as well but if I do switch , I would do it correctly the wires mess is ... bleah :) ...
@@0beed0 yeah it's available publicly. It's an FLA module. Arduino based. I guess I have a test one because of the chip shortages and slow shipping times but I should be getting the ones in a proper housing somewhere along the lines.
Nice video! I see you already had cruise control I don’t have it. Do you know how I can code it in?
Hey Eric. You will need to do some extra wiring along with the hardware before coding it in :)
After that just code via VCDS
Do you have any idea how to code it in can’t find any videos on ot
@@ericpicklebottom1956 you need to go into can gateau first. Turn it on. Then go into steering wheel module and update the coding. Might be something in central electrics to update too.
One question ian! I want to retrofif cruise control on my 2007 tt 8j .what parts are needed for this ?
You'll need the appropriate steering wheels control module that is midline /highline and a cruise control stalk. Then you'll need to code it in with VCDS.
More info here. Not my resource. www.google.com/amp/s/www.audi.homeradiatorsreview.com/cruisecontrol.html
Is this dangerous to do at home? With the air bag? Do I need to remove the battery
Good question about the airbag. Yes disconnected the battery if you want to be super careful regarding airbags.
dear friend hi.i want to ask you if is this possible to retrofit my audi tt 8j 2008 model.i tryed to retrofit it 2 years ago.i change the wiring loom of the mirror from 6pins to 8 pins cable.i fit a high beam assist mirror and i coded it .the canbus of the car accept it but never works.a technical told me that i have the older ecu and for that reason not work.never change the stalks.if i change the stalks same with yours ,is possible to work?thank you very much.
Hi Kostas. Yes you need the stalks and also BCM to make it work (not CECM)
@@ianpgonzaga so must change the CECM to BCM?sorry i dont know if this is that you mean.my car have BCM?is an audi tt 8j 2008 model.i was think that the tt change it in 2009 as facelift.
@@limitsize yes that's right. it's late 2009 that the changeover to the BCM was done. If your car has CECM (like mine) with the many plugs you will also have to retrofit the BCM with 3 plugs :)
Hi, Can I know the part number of the cruise control?
Hi Alessandro
This can guide you vwgolfr32.co.uk/A3-TT-ccs.pdf
??????? ❣️
Can this indicator stick work on older version? I have audi a3 2003 and i put the same stick with cruise control, but my high beams wont stay on. How to fix that?
Need to upgrade the central electric control module with a body control module.
@@ianpgonzaga how to do that and where is that module located, where to buy, how does it look. I have so many questions man.
@@prc7148 LOL so many questions! ;)

@@ianpgonzaga this is not right cm for my car. Do you know how to program board comp and screen. Someone did something to it, car thinks it is automatic but it was always manual. And comp is not from other car it is factory for this car we took i out. When you start the car it says to put leg on the brake when changing gears. When i got it it was italian and i went to some weird guy to translate it to english and he did this. And radio station indicator on comp is always on bugged many icons wont show properly. But i didnt think it could have anything to do with cruise control.
@@prc7148 what the heck. Sounds like your coding is all over the place! Lol try and start again coding one thing at a time to the specification of you car and country.
