“One Thing I Have Desired”
אַחַת שָׁאַלְתִּי מֵאֵת־י י אוֹתָהּ אֲבַקֵּשׁ שִׁבְתִּי בְּבֵית־י י כָּל־יְמֵי חַיַּי לַחֲזוֹת בְּנֹעַם־י י וּלְבַקֵּר בְּהֵיכָלוֹ
כִּי יִצְפְּנֵנִי בְּסֻכֹּה בְּיוֹם רָעָה יַסְתִּרֵנִי בְּסֵתֶר אָהֳלוֹ בְּצוּר יְרוֹמְמֵנִי
וְעַתָּה יָרוּם רֹאשִׁי עַל אֹיְבַי סְבִיבוֹתַי וְאֶזְבְּחָה בְאָהֳלוֹ זִבְחֵי תְרוּעָה אָשִׁירָה וַאֲזַמְּרָה לַי י
One thing have I desired of HASHEM that will I seek after that I may dwell in the house of HASHEM all the days of my life to behold the pleasantness of HASHEM and to enquire in His temple. For He shall hide me in His pavilion in the day of evil He shall hide me in the secret place of His tabernacle upon a rock on high. And now shall be lifted up my head over my enemies round about me therefore I will offer in His tabernacle sacrifices of joy I will sing and I will sing praises to HASHEM.
