I remember watching his original Big Mac video a long while back. It was the first Nicko's Kitchen video I watched and the one that got me into watching his series :)
This looks great! I've been craving a Big Mac. I haven't had one in almost 3 years because I'm skeptical of the type of meat that fast food restaurants use at least by making it at home I know that I'm using real ingredients. :)
Thanks so much for your videos, Nikko. You bring an excitement and energy to cooking that is fresh and inspiring. You make the food authentic and tempting , yet simple enough for anyone to do it, and the way you describe the taste at the end, it is impossible not to want to follow your recipes and try them at home. btw, folks the real sauce recipe is mayo, relish, mustard, paprika, loads of garlic powder, loads of onion powder, and some finely chopped or dried onions, and some brown sugar.
you need just a teaspoon of ketchup or more to add the color to make the sauce. The homemade way of making thousand island dressing is relish, sugar, mayo, and ketchup. also the vinegar as you mentioned. Love your videos by the way.
For that authentic McDonald's feel, put it into a card box and liberally shake the hell out of it, then try and negotiate the mess when you open it lol :p
I just tried this. Very tasty. I think that the sauce is almost bang-on. It could do with being a bit more tangy - extra pickle relish or extra mustard, but it's very close. I enjoyed eating it, and the other video on how to make mayonnaise is great as well. Thanks Nicko!
Just demolished one of these for tea. I gotta say, it was awesome. Genuis for coming up with the sauce recipe... (For the Brits out there, I used Maynards picalilly instead of pickle relish - which I couldn't find. Blend the picalilly a bit before mixing in, leave out the vinegar and use a little more mayo instead of equal measures and you're good to go.) Cheers, mate.
I don't know if the Big Mac sauce is different in Australia than in the US, but it's pink here. Add a little ketchup and you will have it spot on. It adds just the right flavor too. Great video!!
Haven't been to McDonnalds in 4 years now. We call these Big Nicko's around here. This and our homemade McRibs leave us no reason to ever go there! Thanks Nicko!
I see what you mean, but if you read in the description it says: ***PLEASE NOTE*** This recipe is NOT an exact replica fro legal reasons, the taste however will be similar
for people saying they think it'd be easyer to go buy one...at least this is fresh made and you know that no one spit on it =)..thanks nicko!! your food rocks!
Video is great! Definitely going to try this recipe one day. On another note, does anyone know the name of the artist and song at the end? Starts at 5:22
i worked at mcdonalds for years, and this just brought back horrible flashbacks....i need a moment....lol. on a more positive note i have subscribed, your other recipes looks so yummy, definite must-tries :)
@dalywells the middle bun* is toasted on only 1 side, but the pickles are how he did it in the video, but only two in a purchased big mac, only 1 slice of cheese on the lower level
hi nico i wanted to askk... just in case i cant find the pickle paste where i live... is it possible to grind or shred some pickles in the sause? please reply :(
Use Thousand Island sauce, its the sauce McDonald's uses. its basically the diced relish, onions, ketchup, mustard and mayo with salt and pepper and sugar. that's the Famous Mcdonald sauce. they sell Thousand Island at every grocery store. try it they will love it.
I add a few teaspoons of thousand island dressing to the sauce. It's really good. Even though it's not part of a big mac, I always add few slices of tomato as well.
Dear Robjnixon: could you PLEASE post a video about the Big 'N Tasty? I just can't find it anywhere and I love love lovee the bbq sauce thats on it but I have no clue how to make it :( I would love a video about that!
@swifttongue if its so addicting then why was it so easy for morgan spurlock (super size me guy) to quit his diet. Also when someone else did the 30 day fast food challenge, he also was able to give it up without a problem
Everyone's saying why don't you go but one at maccas but honestly they put like nothing on them anymore and this way you can make it to your size preference
Mickey D has never built a Big Mac that looked this good. Simple enough, and I like the trick of flattening the patty. I'm going to have to make a couple of these.
here it's kind of pink-yellow like... not really yellow but just a small touch. i do like the Angus Deluxe over there... we don't have those in holland. But we do have the Dutch deluxe, McKroket (bun-crouquette-mustard-bun) etc.
I made these at a Barbecue in our garden, everyone loved them. Actually everyone did on the burgers what they wanted, however everyone used the epic sauce :D
I wish people would also realise that his versions are much healthier than the real thing, since he's using fresh meat without additives. For the sauce you can omit the sugar and it's still really good. You can also slice the meat into halves or pieces and put them in a wrap if you don't want to use buns.
Niko!! This looks great and a healthy substitute for the McDonald's version. I'm going to cook these up for my family tonight. We live in Vancouver Canada but everyone agrees this looks much better than McDonald's. Thanks Niko! Ps ignore the negative comments :D and thanks again!
Damn I don't know why everyones complaining about thousand island sauce. He's got everything else correct which is a pretty fantastic effort. Most supermarkets stock thousand island sauce, just take $5 and your sussed.
Hey Nicko Thanks heaps for all the recipes .you should make a cookbook and send it to me I only found you on youtube a couple of weeks ago and ive been wanting to thank you and your awesome MAKE MORE VIDEOS :)
I don't know about Australia but in the US McDonald's will soon have the option of their breakfast sandwiches being on whole-grain crumpets/English muffins; I would suppose that Australia has yet to discover the benefits of whole grains.
This guys sauce is probably a million times healthier and more tasty than the actual big mac sauce! If you'd like to make a video on making real big mac sauce be my guess. I'll be waiting to watch it. Good luck!
@realisticHomeboy I've seen people struggle trying to figure how to open the door at work. You really think those people could figure out to cut bread into three pieces?

This looks great! I've been craving a Big Mac. I haven't had one in almost 3 years because I'm skeptical of the type of meat that fast food restaurants use at least by making it at home I know that I'm using real ingredients. :)
that looks absolutely lovely! I love homemade burgers, and toasting the bun is vital, it makes a world of difference.
It's the sauce that makes you crave it.

If you mind eating bread with pink slime made to look like beef and vegetables with about 10% of their normal nutritional value, then sure
Just demolished one of these for tea.
I gotta say, it was awesome. Genuis for coming up with the sauce recipe...

Nicko my version of that sauce is mayo with a little ketchup and a little relish but I might try that next time thanks!
@swifttongue if its so addicting then why was it so easy for morgan spurlock (super size me guy) to quit his diet. Also when someone else did the 30 day fast food challenge, he also was able to give it up without a problem
