What a beautiful explanation! My 16-month-old loves sleeping on her floor bed (and so do we for the exact reasons you mentioned). And I am excited to have a floor bed for our baby (due next month) too. I look forward to seeing more from you ♥

I love this video explaining everything! I'm currently pregnant with my first baby and trying to decide what would be best and safe for my baby, I think in the beginning we're going to do a bassinet in our room and then slowly transition him into his own room. I just want to know what your advice is for first-time moms thinking about getting a floor bed with or without some kind of barriers for it? I just don't know if I want to do a straight-up mattress on the floor or a crib that could be transitioned into a floor bed, as you can see I don't know how to go about this. Thank you so much for the video and advice! :)

Congratulations on this special time in your journey! :) I will start by saying to always follow your intuition and do what feels right for you. The beauty of having a prepared environment is that you can choose how to set up the floor bed and what floor bed to get. If you live in a humid place, where it gets cold in the winter, wooden hard floors, etc maybe opt in for a slightly raised bed. A low crib that transforms into a bed is also a great idea! :) The goal here is that you give your child freedom of movement and ability to have independence when it comes to sleeping. Raised bed or mattress on the floor will give your child the same benefits. The benefits are for the long run! :) We are 2.5 years into our floor bed journey and WOW it has payed off, our daughter is able to put her self to sleep and feels in control of HER sleep, it's empowering to her and it's by far the best thing we have done to help her sleep with ease.latinxmontessori.com/best-montessori-floor-bed-options/

Love your video! Thank you for explaining with such calm and giving so much education. I’m just starting to implement Montessori with my 9 month old and was looking for a video just like this to give me reassurance!

Thank you so much for such a great explanation of floor beds! We recently transitioned our daughter to a floorbed, however she wakes up when she rolls off the bed during the night, and sometimes opens the door and leaves her room to find us. Did you encounter similar issues and do you have any tips to help manage them? Thank you!

Love this video, so helpful! How do you get your baby to sleep when you first started the floor bed? Is there any sleep training involved?

Hello! Thank you so much for being here. At first we simply introduced her to the floor bed. I would lay with her (safely with no pillows or blankets) with her or a few minutes, the we transitioned into naps only and eventually overnight. It was a process but incredibly worth it. Now that she is 2.5 years old, bed time is easy and not many power struggles. I will soon make a video on our experience. With all honesty, there were moments that I wasn't sure if a floor bed was the best option but trusting the process was worth it. Wishing you the best mama, you've got this! :)

May I ask when did your daughter start sleeping in her own room through the night?
I’m still sharing a room with mine, and is consider sleep training before introducing floor bed.

Hi thanks for your comment. She began sleeping on her own at about 4 months old. But it was a gradual transition. We allowed her to play on her bed so she could get used to it. Then she started taking naps, and eventually sleeping on her own. You can sleep train with the floor bed so it becomes a safe and comfortable environment.

@@latinxmontessori thanks for sharing. My daughter takes a nap in a different room( her future room) when the nanny comes. But she still relies on her paci a lot during bedtime. I might need to teach her to sleep on her own / in her room at the same time. Bit concerned that will be too much for her. I’ll look up more info and prepare myself. Really like the independent time your daughter has after she wakes up in her room!

You can buy a low frame for the mattress but ultimately do whatever works for you and your family.
