Very important: I just had this problem and even more lot of times the pc was starting but no display at all, sometimes boot loop. SOLVED: Recntly my PC windows 10 would randomly freeze then restart itself. I've tried a lot of different things such as reinstalling windows, doing malware scans, disk clean up, and disk defragment, all which is due to me thinking its a software issue, but it wasn't. For my final attempt I ended up actually opening up my computer and cleaning the hardwares. to my surprise there was A LOT of dust inside, especially on my fans. After cleaning and dusting off my computer then putting everything back in. The computer finally stopped having random freezes and restarts. My issue was definetly caused by too much dust inside of my computer. I felt so stupid at the end but im really glad I solved it and dont have to buy a new computer. 2 days now and still good.
Hello, is it possible that i bought a faulty pc because this is my very first pc and its been like this since I got it and I thought it was normal. when my friend came over he said its not and that to get it fixed. my pc restarts on its own maybe about every 5 hours its on but sometimes more or less
yes that's not normal. The only thing i could think of first is the cpu or gpu might be reaching it's temperature limit. You said it only happens after 5 hours, that is plenty enough to make the cpu or gpu overheat when both heatsink are not working, it's not common for gpu but i think it is your cpu(processor) temperature is getting to high causing the automatic restart. To check the temperature use msi afterburner, just run the software and you will see your gpu and cpu temperature. Idle must not be more than 60c, on heavy load must not be more than 90c
PLEASE READ UPDATE BELOW FOR SOULTION THAT ENDED UP FIXING THIS ISSUE FOR ME!!! (initial post) From my most recent experience with a PC that would reboot, I learned that the easiest thing to do before you start looking into the hardware is to first look at certain drivers. I had a PC that would reboot periodically while gaming. I thought I had an issue with my CPU cooler. I replaced it with a better cooler, but that didn't fix the problem. What I did was download a monitoring software called HWinfo and GPU/CPU load testing program called Cupid Powermax. I would first start the monitoring process with HWinfo and then start load testing the CPU. As soon as I started the test for the GPU, my PC would reboot. This happened every time I ran both load test together. My first guess was that I had an issue with the graphics card, but I decided to uninstall the drivers and then reinstall them. That seems to have fixed the rebooting issue. I'm not sure if I had corrupt drivers or not, but my guess is that a Windows update may have caused this issue a while back with their last big update. UPDATE!! What actually ended up fixing the issue was to reinstall Windows 10. That was many months ago and the issue hasn't even happened again.
Guys I know how to fix it. If reseating the ram doesn't work use a screwdriver, make sure the power supply is still plugged in but turn the switch off, press the power button a few times to make sure its off. Hold the screwdriver on the 2 pins sticking out where it says CMOS on the motherboard usually on the lower right or left for 15 seconds then try to turn it back on. I was getting a boot loop for 5 hours tried literally everything re-seating ram, everything.... and this is the only thing that worked.
Wether or not I get a response, I dont know but worth the shot. Had this problem where suddenly my pc shut itself on, even did the "shutting down" screen. Turned it back on, and after a little while of running again it turned off again. Then, it did the constant off and on rebooting. I talked with a friend who is pretty knowledgeable about computers and he came over to check it out. Long story short, we checked a few different things eventually resulting in taking out one of the ram sticks, then swapping to check the other which got the computer to boot up normally. Used it for some time, updated and played a couple games and everything seemed okay, so figured maybe one of the ram sticks wasn't good. Came home from work today and noticed the ssd light was on which isn't normally on when the computer is powered off normally which I did the night before. So, back to square one, I searched and found this video. Tried the first few steps and after seeing the bit about cleaning the ram sticks I figured that made sense as messing with them seemed to make a difference previously. Did that, tried both at the same time, 1 at a time and swapping them 1 at a time and still no progress. Curious if anyone maybe sees this comment if they could have anymore input as to what other thing to try. I can still check other components but I'm quite positive based on what happened previously, it has something to do with the ram. Thanks in advance for any comments
if you already clean the ram sticks the way it was suggested in the video and still doesn't work, i suggest try those ram sticks in your friend's pc and see how it goes. If it worked normally after some tests then this could be a motherboard ram slot issue, maybe hardware or it just needed dust cleaning. Obviously if your friend's pc with your ram sticks didn't work then that could be your ram sticks.
@@MacCoyzkie appreciate the reply. and that is a pretty damn good idea, ill deffinately give that a shot, but was also thinking about the possibility of a slot not working (i have 8 on my motherboard though so plenty to choose from lol).
@@MacCoyzkie UPDATE: Ordered a power supply test kit to try to do what i can before assuming an expensive part is a problem and buying it without knowing for sure. plugged it in and all numbers seemed good. plugged the 24 pin cable back in and tried starting the computer again. started fine. about 30 minutes later it shut down (with shut down screen and all) and went back to the turning itself on and off as was happening before. so, did the same process again, plugged the 24 pin into tester, numbers were good, plugged the 24 pin back into motherboard and it started normally again. so, my question now, is do we think that would be a cable problem, a connection problem, or maybe a motherboard issue, as i no longer think it is the power supply or ram sticks.

I've had my pc since 2018 when do you recommend doing fresh thermal paste on the CPU?
depends on what thermal paste you use, if you use the pre-applied thermal paste whether be in amd or intel i suggest change it after 6 months else it will become too hard like epoxy specially the amd paste. Very important: I just had this problem and even more lot of times the pc was starting but no display at all, sometimes boot loop. I checked the cpu and I noticed there was some green plasticky residues on the contacts pads, I removed them with a needle and this probably solved the problem. I say probably because I did this few minutes ago but I believe it will work fine now because every pin on the cpu has different functions and those residues were probably causing current interruptions between cpu and motherboard.
i wonder where those green plasticky came from, anyway thanks for sharing bro! this might also be helpful to others who might experience it.

Thank you!! Got my pc working finally :)
oh nice! you're welcome bro!
That was many months ago and the issue hasn't even happened again.
thanks for sharing
Guys I know how to fix it. If reseating the ram doesn't work use a screwdriver, make sure the power supply is still plugged in but turn the switch off, press the power button a few times to make sure its off. Hold the screwdriver on the 2 pins sticking out where it says CMOS on the motherboard usually on the lower right or left for 15 seconds then try to turn it back on. I was getting a boot loop for 5 hours tried literally everything re-seating ram, everything.... and this is the only thing that worked.
Some motherboard has those 2 pin but some don’t, removing the cmos battery may also do the trick
I did this and it still won't work
Wether or not I get a response, I dont know but worth the shot.
@@devinem24 if there is anything it is the motherboard or you could also consider outlet power if you had power fluctuation in your area.
since we already come to this, can you try testing out the pc without the case? i mean place the motherboard on its box and test it all outside the case because this might be shorted inside the case

I watched the first 30 seconds and did what you said. Did the old ‘Nintendo cartridge blow’ on my Ram sticks and put them back in fully expecting nothing to happen.
A few seconds later I’m listening to the quiet hum of my fans and seeing the bright flashes of LED that decorate my PC’s interior. You sir… are HIM. 🫡
glad it worked bro!
Thank you man helped me out alot also it was fun taking the ram out made me realize i knew more a bout pcs than i thought
oh really glad to hear that bro! you're so welcome!
Sigh. Thanks, I was do upset if forgot to do the basics and nearly cried cause the pc wasnt restarted.
Thanks again
no problem bro
Thank you so much!!! You saved my life❤
you're welcome
My situation is so strange, the components worked out of the case but fail to work inside of the case with the power cycling loop being the issue. The power supply just cycles but every fan, including the GPU and cooler work. I have reseeded the RAM and even the motherboard has the RGB work before I turn on the power switch. Checked the thermal compound and it was fine. So I'm so confused
usually happens to misplaced front panel connectors, double check yours ua-cam.com/video/LxRzL5WFB9c/v-deo.html also check if the back of the motherboard is touching any metal surface in the case
Thanks for this awesome video!
you're welcome and thanks for the feedback
Thanks a lot to be honest I didn’t watch more then 1 minute but I thought I’ll try the first thing I see and it worked thanks a lot
you're welcome
I can't believe an old eraser saved my life. Thank you!

My pc keeps restarting for no reason, at the first turn it goes normally, then if i turn it on a second time it keeps restarting, i cleaned off the rams, but they were already cleaned... i dont know why does it keep doing that help
I clean the ram, and now my pc won't turn on
Make sure everything is plugged in
Make sure you have the ram in correctly
I reseated ny ram and it won't post either. RGB turns on and fans spin, no display and then it keep rebooting. I'll update when I find a solution...
