From what I got reading 2 king of sins books (reading King Of Greed as of now) is that in King of Wrath, there were, as you mentioned, drama, revenge and at least a decent plot. I'm a person who cares more about plots than the relationships between characters. Reading King of Wrath, for me was really really a roller-coaster ride. And another thing I liked about KoW were that 1. she kept the deadly sin within him, there was not really a redemption of him for being an asshole (if you count him groveling for Vivian at the end as a redemption, I rlly don't) and I think it brings the purpose in some way (if i can explain it properly??). AND 2. I could somehow see them developing a mutual respect to feelings for each other.
However, King of Pride, it has too manyy plotholes. Either that or I just speedread through it all because it, at some point, became a way to cure my insomnia because of how boring the plot were. I'm all down for a gentleman mmc, but honestly, with how Ana did with Twisted series and KoW, I really expected a steady improved pace between Kai and Isabella but all I got from her was, "Wow she shoulda stuck with writing mafia romance, cold-blooded ceo romance or some sh*t". Not only were there no interesting chemistry, there really WEREN'T, all I saw was a possessive male and a hyper bunny female character but ALSO the entirety of the story revolved around ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! There was no proximity, no emotional intensity, no rollercoaster rides, no actual antagonists nor any clear past of any of them. I'm Asian and while I found some Asian references, it still failed me as too why some parts were absolutely necessary while some aren't. I don't see why Kai saw his divorced parents in bed or the reasoning behind his mother's retirement or just anything. And while I have nothing against hooking up before dating, their reasoning for hooking up was really poorly written. I was honestly shocked at the lack of plots that could've deepen the story, for example, Isabella actually had the guts to do something about being ratted out instead of chickening out and breaking up with Kai or Kai actually PROVING that Isabella is not who she was portrayed by whatever-that-person-was (because I entirely forgotten). I just really really wished she would've executed the troupe properly.
I've read all her twisted series and though the plots there were very wattpad coded, it actually served purpose in their own ways, but KoP was such a let-down, I'm still giving her another chance at writing King Of Envy (because its the only book I'm HOPING to not be a complete let-down). Otherwise, King of Wrath and Twisted Hate have to be the only 2 books that I genuinely found interesting.
I'm also going to try out King of Sloth since Sloane is for me (as of now) the only sane person to ever have a strong hidden personality and also because I love Black cat fmc

I couldn't DIS-agree more! While King of Sloth is my favorite book (thus far) in the series, King of Pride is a close second, and unlike most of Ana Huang's books I've read so far, where I could relate to one of the main characters but not to the other one, I could relate in many ways to each of Kai and Isabella. And the third act break-up, while (like Kai) I didn't agree with Isabella's reasoning, I could definitely understand it. Because of her background and her lack of tangible success up to that point in her life (especially in contrast to Kai's consistent record of stellar success), she didn't feel worthy of being an equal partner to Kai and felt like she would ultimately hold him back from true success and happiness, if not in this specific case (of the CEO succession) then in some other way down the road. And that feeling of not being worthy (that she clearly exhibited and that had been well-developed narratively by that point) can lead you to make poor or even stupid decisions that you will need to work on yourself and figure out a way to come back from. And the catharsis of her doing that, and of her and Kai's getting back together from that, made this a very satisfying book for me within the series. (Though, as I noted before, I liked Sloane and Xavier's story in King of Sloth even better - happening to see that book - in Costco of all places! - and deciding to buy it is what led me to read the rest of the series, and some of the Twisted books as well! Lol!)
P.S. Regardless, even if I disagreed with your main conclusion, thanks for the review! It was definitely thought-provoking!

wow thank you for commenting! I love seeing your differing opinions and that you really connected to the characters. I'm glad you enjoyed this book!
I haven't gotten to king of sloth, but I hope I like it as much as you do.

when i heard you mention that the book is about 'his pride' i thought the end would be something about how he has to sacrifice his ceo position in order to be together with her and when he does that, it would lead to his character development. disappointed to hear the book did not go that route. great video as always!💖

I couldnt agree more. This book felt so bland and it put me on reading slump.I expected more after kow. Kai is a perfect male lead in every way i have to admit but i saw no chemistry between him and isabelle. Also there was so many scenes that doesnt make any sense. Like if theres a forbidden thing going on u should keep it hidden right?? For both partners sake. But this crazy- in-love couple just goes around and after they get caught, preteneds to be shocked and causing drama. I guess thats because why i dont like isabelle. Of course she will be paying for it (as a bartender who has an alternative way apparently🤷‍♀️) but on kais side its much more complicated, like hes gonna be a CEO afterall. He has a huge pressure on him. She always puts herself first and doesnt take responsibility. That pisses me off sooo much. Sorry but a dissapointment from ana huang again :(

They really went around town willy nilly, not a care in the world & when they got caught it was like, "Well isn't it the consequences of my own actions..."

I’m so glad I’m not the only one that didn’t like Isabelle. I was so annoyed when they were so surprised that they got caught going on dates when they both knew the consequences of doing so.. I kept sighing to myself halfway through lol I forced myself to finish it

I agree, the book got boring and nothing really happens after they get together 😐. BUT I’m here for the diverse characters and representation of pressures we go through in asian families. I also just loved that they were both good at playing piano 😂. Other than that, I skimmed the end because the third act conflict made no sense. Why were they shocked when they got caught? They were going out on dates in public. Did the book impact me at all? Not really, but I’ll let it slide as a healthy couple story with unproblematic characters haha it’s good if you are looking for a basic hot billionaire ceo romance. Also, great video! Do not worry about being too negative in your book reviews! We love an honest and funny review so don’t hold back! 🥰

I loved how you pointed out the piano thing. I never noticed it LMAO. So true.
The story was unproblematic but there are just so many other books that do it better. This book made me feel how I do when I eat a piece of bread. It's not bad, but it's so plain & if I had to option of eating a sandwich, I'd choose that instead. I'd only go for the bread if there was nothing else around & I was starving.

first of all can we talk about how adorable and cute your hair clips look🥰🥰🥰 the camera is so good like we getting hd view here
For me ana huang peaked with twisted games. Also it's kinda funny that once ana puts out a book people start hyping up the *next couple* and forget that right now they're reading about the couple they hyped months and months ago(idk if this made sense). So true this book was boring i was skimming left and right. I got no angst no tension nothing. i think bc kai was so wholesome it was difficult to integrate drama and dark themes like it would've been out of nowhere but then if this was supossed to wholesome then it could've been set up at a small town for all i could've cared. Ana is solely focused on writing billionaire which kindof is mostly dark romances now a days, I wish she'd change up her characters a bit more. There was no plot nothing.ALL HER CHARACTERS ARE SAMMMEE I think also the need to pump 2-3 books in an year is really affecting the plot. Isa's trauma was resolved in 1 chapter like wtf *ONE* *ALSO YOU KNOW IT'S BAD WHEN I'M SKIMMING SPICE HUH*
pleaseee do a video of the authors you love or you don't like but would still read over and over again or your fav books of all time

I'm noticing she for sure likes to just use the most popular tropes on tiktok to promote her books, then all her work ends up being a copy & paste of the last. But like, where's the story you felt the urge to write?? That you couldn't hold in? That you needed to tell the world? There's definitely a lack of voice in her works & she's pumping out her books too fast.
& ISA'S TRAUMA. MY GOODNESS. I never talked about it in this video but that poor wife 😓 girlie has been through hell and back. & they just glossed it over like???
