    I have a GB plan and it took about 20 minutes after initial set up to get my 970 mb/s. I’m very

      Mr. Robot thanks for pointing that out. Are you talking about in the beginning when i took out the order form. I’ve seen it. You can’t make out anything. Even if they could it’s not my address. That’s the xfinity return address. I’ll watch it again. i appreciate you bringing this to my attention. I saw it before i posted this video. But my information isn’t on it. Plus even the XFINITY address to the company is to blurry to make anything out. Thank you for watching. I appreciate you.

      I'd say if there's a will there's a way. Any way that I could contact you personally so I can tell you the time stamps?
      Even though most of the information was blurry, it doesn't stop some people. Your real service address was in the video, although that was blurry too, but not blurry enough to prevent an "educated" guess. Same with phone and account number.

    You’re not gonna get anywhere close to 1Gbps speed through WiFi, only through wired connection. Also if you want to get close to that 450Mbps you need to set up the dual band capability, otherwise the modem will choose for you between the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. 2.4ghz giving you wider range, but slower speeds. 5ghz giving you slightly smaller range but much faster speeds.

    • @adubbproductions
      @adubbproductions  6 років тому +3

      Nick Summers I’m aware of only getting the close to 1gb only if Ethernet is plugged in. The WiFi speed however still increases once the darn thing gets set up correctly. I was told on the phone that they could set it up but now a rep is telling me that that’s incorrect and a technician has to come out and set it up so i can get the 1gb speed the rep has around 450mbs you mentioned on WiFi. She sent me a picture of her phone screen when she did a speed test. Haven’t gotten a tech out yet but i will soon enough. To me it’s worth it because i upload a lot of videos but for the average person only browsing i thing the base speed is fast enough. What do you think?

    • @voodooaudio
      @voodooaudio 6 років тому +3

      I didn't specifically setup dual-band, I just walked thru a basic XB6 setup with defaults. I'm getting anywhere from 430 Mbs to 480 Mbs hardwired, depending on time of day and network traffic. I have just one SSID (which is all it asks for during setup) but I can see that various devices (27 of them in my home) will auto-connect at either 2.4-GHz -or- 5-GHz. In any case, I'm very happy as I have pretty much doubled my speed over my previous gen Xfinity Gateway.

    • @adubbproductions
      @adubbproductions  6 років тому

      voodooaudio I feel the same way. Not the speed they promised but twice as fast is a lot better. I’ll take it for now. They still have a lot of room to improve as far as the upload speeds are concerned and i think they are capable of doing it why they haven’t yet is another question.

      A-Dubb sorry I didn't mention this earlier. I don't subscribe to Comcast Gigabit service, only 400 Mbs which I am achieving and a little bit more. When I asked the rep if the XB6 can achieve Gigabit speeds I was told that it can provided I subscribed to Gigabit service. But I didn't ask if this was over Wifi or hardwired Ethernet.

    Well correct me if I'm wrong but the reason why you're not seeing that much speed when you do a Speedtest with your phone is because your phone can only handle so much speed whereas a computer can handle much much more than a phone

    • @adubbproductions
      @adubbproductions  6 років тому +2

      No. When you test the speeds your getting threw your phone that’s an accurate reading for the speeds your getting threw your phone. If the speed increases and you test again threw your phone it’s still going to increase on your phone. To test and see if the speed got faster it doesn’t matter what your testing with as long as you stay consistent with the device your using to test.

    You were on the 5Ghz when you got 299, with a single name ssid it moves you back and forth between the 2.4Ghz and the 5Ghz, your first test on XB6 was in the 2.4 the other time you were on the 5Ghz. Separate your WiFi names and always choose the 5Ghz WiFi one. Also mobile devices top out between 200-400 depending on the device.

I found a old cat 5e Ethernet cable and hooked up to laptop.. 65 mbps😡 went to BestBuy for the hell of it and bought Cat 6 Ethernet... 70/90mbps😡 ITS A RACKET!! The funny thing is the lady was really quick to offer me the gig speed😂 I understand you don’t get exactly what they say u do BUT I’m getting NOWHERE TO THE 250 THROUGH THE ETHERNET CABLE TOO LAPTOP! Absolutely the XB3 should be swapped for the XB6, XB7, or XB8. Those bring faster wired speed, faster wireless speed, DOCSIS 3.1 support which brings OFDM and OFDMA support, and mid-split support.

    On July 18, 2020, I swapped my XB3 for an XB6 (Arris TG3482G) that I picked up at the local Xfinity store.
    Part of the setup material that it came with (not in a fancy box by the way) said to activate the new router via the Xfi "app" that I had to install on my iPhone 11 Pro.
    Once I launched the smart phone app, it told me to aim my camera at the QR code on the bottom of the new XB6 and it proceeded to copy over all of the configuration information (SSID, network password, etc.) from the old XB3 to the new XB6 ( which must have been stored in the cloud somewhere because the XB3 was obviously powered off when I did that), which saved me a lot of time and headaches because I did not have to struggle to re-join my NAS (Western Digital MyBook Live) and HP All-in-One device to the network using my desired static IP addresses for them.
    The landline worked almost immediately with the XB6 but it took a while (maybe 30 minutes?) for the router to finish activating, which I assume included downloading firmware as well as finding devices and "announcing" via message on the phone app when each device was officially joined into the network.
    I'm curious to know if that type of activation was an option when you made this video back in 2018.
    The one thing that threw me for a loop was trying to navigate to the admin screen via the browser on my laptop (10.0.0.1) because the ONE THING that DID NOT copy over from the XB3 to the XB6 was my "admin" password. I finally had to open up a "chat" with Xfinity which informed me that the default password for "admin" on their routers is the insecure word "password", which I immediately changed to something complex.
    I do miss the extra two Ethernet ports because I had been using a Netgear P1200 "home wiring" connection to get a faster near-hard-wired connection to my laptop in a different room. I'll live with just WiFi for now.

    You only have to unplug and replug the power cord as to power cycle the device bro. Then its gonna work a lot faster than the xb3. Call tech support, they only have to do a bit of configuration to get it a lot faster.

    Comcast employee here. Some variables that could affect your speeds include whether you are connected via ethernet (hardwired) or wifi, the plan you have, and the capabilities of your device. I have noticed that after new modems are set up, regardless if they are xb6's or xb3's, it can sometimes take a minute for the correct speed to register, which may have been what you were experiencing. Your agent most likely did a router reset as a first troubleshooting step, but you most likely would have been fine without it with a little more time. Also, what speed you will get will HIGHLY depend on what your device is capable of getting. You mentioned having an iPhone X, which is only capable of a max speed of 300 mbps. If you go to the website speedtest.xfinity.com/devicespeeds, you'll see a search tool we've created that helps you find your devices max speed. It's a good practice to know what speeds your devices are capable of so you can decide on the best plan for you.

      As a comcast employee, I have a question for you, if I buy one of those xb3 from ebay for example, to use at home, do I have to contact Comcast Customer Service? or it should work after a few minutes of being plugged in? because we all know how helpful Comcast customer service is.

    A-Dubb - To answer your question you sent to me: As of this afternoon May 2 2018, I'm getting about 430 Mbs on my MacBook Pro over hardwired Ethernet. I'm getting about 230 Mbs on the same MacBook Pro over Wifi. The MacBook Pro is at the opposite corner of the house from the XB6. When I did the speedtest on my iPhone 6s (315 Mbs) it was much closer to the XB6. Also, I suspect that slight differences in speed (my 473 Mbs vs 430 Mbs hardwired) might be due to different times of day and the amount of network traffic. My 473 Mbs was achieve in the wee hours of the morning. In any case, I am very pleased with the upgrade as I am getting about twice the speed that I had before.

    Believe it or not, its the quality of those modems. Don't expect the modem to be fully tested and pass QC. I have gone through 4 modems both xb3 and xb6 to get everything working. The problem I run into are : no inbound calls (rings but can't hear anything), the unit kept buzzing, WIFI signal kept phasing in and out, can't connect via xfinity WiFi (both), poor ethernet speed performance.... etc. My suggestions is, keep swapping it out till you find one that works perfectly. Depends on your package, the newer modem might not make sense.
    I personally like the older model, it has 2 USB ports great for charging, lots of LED indicators for troubleshooting, 4 ethernet ports for VOIP, TV, and computers, Thinner profile with a flat top. The newer XB6 have just 1 LED, 2 phone jacks, 2 ethernet ports, COAX/cable port, has a fan that whirls and consumed more power. I dislike all the cable sticking out from the back and no way to push the unit back against the wall with my current setup.

    NEVER use an Xfinity modem. If you get Xfinity, you really should think about getting a different modem. Not the one made by Xfinity. I had the Xfinity router and got horrible speeds and then got a Netgear Nighthawk and my speeds we're so much better. I suggest getting a Netgear router because of how good and high quality they are

      Why would i say this?
      Our modems are mostly not brand new.
      They recycle them. Comcast has their own lab for old modems, and they have special techs to fix and make them all look brand new again.

      I've had nothing but HORRIBLE speeds with Netgear. They only last 6 months and crap out. I will NEVER buy another crappy Netgear again. After buying 4 in a row every 6 months, it was actually cheaper to rent one and make Comcast replace it whenever I have any problems. In my opinion, Netgear is JUNK. Don't waste your money!

      One advantage to using the Xfinity modems is if something goes wrong you just swap it out or just keep exchanging them when a new/better one comes out. I used to buy my own gear and for me it just didn't seem worth it... it's a personal preference.

    You made absolutely perfect sense. In the beginning of the video I was all excited about getting this new box, router. I was ready to call Comcast tomorrow morning. But with the way you explained it and all of that, I'm going to stick with what I have which is the same box that you had initially before you switched it over to that new one. 1 gig is ridiculously fast. You might be right when you talked about the Wi-Fi. Maybe if you hook up your ethernet cable to your computer you might get a fast your BPS. Who knows. I'm looking forward to your next video on this issue. I used to work at Comcast and I was a phone support representative for the internet side of the business. They don't train you very well. And this was in 2008. Got any rating, I'm definitely staying with what I got for now. I'm going to wait for your next video and see if you found out anything else. It's possible you were connected to the 5ghz signal on your old router (which is faster always yet doesn't carry signal as far) and then you were connected to the 2.4ghz signal on the new router. (Usually 2.4 is the default before setting up)
    This would definitely account for your speed differences...And then there's the question of what band N or AC that your new router came default with as well.

    • @DukeofSeastone
      @DukeofSeastone 5 років тому

      10.0.0.1 is the default IP for Comcast modem/routers....you can make sure that you have both bands 2.4 and 5 turned on... Each have advantages over the other in certain situations and all new routers are dual band capable...you'll see 2 separate wifi signal so you will need to enter your password for your 5ghz connection even if you've already connected to your 2.4ghz.... in the end though Ethernet cables are still the way to go if it's possible to run them to your device and really need the speed...

    As a comcast onboarding technical and billing rep who actually fucks around with the physical modems for fun ... I noticed this was the first batch of XB6's. I also find with these models that I never get calls about hardwire internet speed issues, but wifi issues. And honestly, most wifi speed issues are resolved with a booster or extender and turning off power steering (creating differently named 2.4 and 5.0). Also, the modem of the xb6 of both manufactures is great. The router part from this *batch* leaves some desire, since the model at this time still had issues. I find using bridge mode and a seperate router works better for customers with the cisco xb6 (which this guy has). All and all, interesting speed test. *edit: Most people dont need a gig. Its more bragging rights or for households with more people.*

    Activate and access the MoCA through another cable port via a MoCA splicer in the house for higher wifi speeds.
    Also, why not upgrade? The rental fee is the same for newer equipment.

    • @DogwaterAl
      @DogwaterAl 6 років тому

      Greg Epkes That’s not true the modem will provide the speeds regardless of whether the MoCA is on or not, the MoCA is only required to be on when being used with their wireless cable boxes.

    • @GregEpkes
      @GregEpkes 6 років тому

      Albert Delgado You’re not fully understanding MoCA’s capabilities. Activating the MoCA allows you to ad another WiFi hub off another hardwired cable jack coming from another wall that talks to the main modem at hardwired speeds; bringing that WiFi hub closer to another area in a distant part of the home or office that may be blocked by structural barriers.

    • @adubbproductions
      @adubbproductions  6 років тому

      Wow. Very interesting. Would you mind elaborating a little more in detail on how I would do that? How does one activate the MoVa? I’ve never even heard of it in truth.
      Then is it just Ethernet from the modem into another modem in another room? This is good stuff. I just wanna see if it works.

    • @imperialraiden8259
      @imperialraiden8259 6 років тому

      Greg Epkes MoCA is a network that's solely used for Cable TV. The only reason it's there on the XB3 and the XB6 it's for the X1 cable TV service. Also by "cable jack " I assume you're talking about a coax outlet, and if this is true then you're wrong about having another wifi spot in the house using it. If you're taking about an ethernet rj45 outlet, assuming it's all wired at the panel correctly , you can activate all the jacks by backfeeding one outlet from the modem regardless if MoCA is on or not, and then you can add,say, an extender on the other side (though I'd prefer just another router). We don't do 2 modems so it would have to be either extender or router. Trust me, I'm a comcast tech level 4. MoCA is just for our X1 TV services nothing else.
      As for the upgrade from XB3 to XB6. I'd say it will definitely be worth it by the end of the year. They're ironing out ALOT of stuff still. But it's being addressed.

    Being a tech, I was watching the video in shock, because a few more things factor into the speed you will get. After the System states your setup, the Modem then needs to be provisioned for the plan. All the setup did was register the modem on the Xfinity's database. After that the modem then is a blank slate able to access the internet through Xfinity's service.(Usually with the min. connection to the network) Now the Fun part starts, the Xfinity site then talks to the modem , looks over the plan and says hey bro this is the plan your boi is signed up for this is what we will send you. You panic'd way to early. That whole interaction between your modem and Xfinity can take on the best case scenario side 15 mins worst case that night when the Xfinity servers reset. I was not gonna touch the fact you was doing speed test with WIFI22 cause that will never yield great or plan results. Most techs, when they set you up allocate a little more bandwidth to your plan, the reason is people who think they are getting over don't complain. So if you have the 250 plan i personally would setup with the range of about 255- 299 that way you see 299 you like dayum i'm setup, no need to complain i am getting more than i am paying for. This is an extremely dumb'd down version of what happens on the back end. But i am curious to see what the speeds looks like the next day.?

    I actually just ordered Xfinity and have no problems with the XB6 box. My plan is 250 mbps but I get higher speeds over 300 on Moto Z Force 2 and IPad. My Smart TV has absolutely no lag time with UA-cam, Netflix Crunchyroll or any other app. My computer runs faster now too. Only gripe I have is the limited HD channels on the TV service and the lack of use from FXNOW and other apps I use on my devices. If I’m paying for the service, I expect to get service.

      I've hit over 300 for my 250Mbps plan... When I first tested the 5GHz band, it was dreadful. Short range, dropping out, etc... Got a new Asus ROG GL503VD laptop that changed everything! They apparently have been working on and fixing the hardware for the 5GHz band! For the first time in a couple years, I've given the 5GHz band a go again and I'm glad I did! Just needed the right stuff for it to be done right!

    The device you are using to do a speed test is can limit the network speed reported. Factors like network card or the radio in a mobile device also can reduce the speed reported. Distance from the router as well. The farther away or more walls the slower / weaker the signal. Lastly the band being used. 2.4ghz is slower but better distance. 5ghz is much faster but limited range. We have Xfinity and have never come close to our advertised speeds.

    The most accurate way to measure your connection speed is to use either a laptop or a desktop computer then connect it to your router using the category 6 or 6a Ethernet cable plugged to one of the 2 Ethernet ports at the back. Wireless connection is not that accurate and may show lower speed than what you are actually subscribed to.

    XB9 Battery info: The XB9 takes an external battery and from what they described it looks almost like a power brick for a laptop. Since the XB9 requires AC power and does not have space internally for a battery, the battery backup is more like a small UPS. I should have more detailed info once mine arrives within 7 - 10 days. The price I was quoted was $70 + $5.95 shipping to appear on my Xfinity bill. Tech spec I was given was 8 hours standby / 5 hours talk time. This keeps the phone ports active but is not a backup to keep internet alive (probably draws too much power). Xfinity battery sales phone number: 1-888-972-1261
    Also note: if you use cordless phones be sure the base stations are backed up on a UPS. Otherwise your cordless phones won't work during a power outage even though your XB9 phone ports are active. Additionally, a UPS (like APC or similar) on your XB6 instead of the battery backup or in addition to the battery backup might be a good idea. My network switches and pretty much everything is on a UPS so if we have a power outage I still have a few hours of phone & internet uptime w/o using my cellphone as a hotspot.

    they xfi pods are pretty slick. if you rent a gateway from comcast...yes i know... its super easy to buy your own....but...the days are over of owning modem/router and paying 20/mo for internet. you basically get to skip having the first plume pod (thats the non comcast branded one) as you add it via the xfi app. If your home or apartment has crazy materials with bad reception...then it's worth considering.... $119 for a 3 pack. But the bad thing is the more pods you add the more potential you have for slowdowns. The better option is to take advantage of the built in moca framework into these gateways, because for $15 or $80ea you can get backwards compatible actiontec adapters! Let me tell you about these adapters. I have the xb3. I had to drive 3 hours to get the thing when it was released years ago! And it wasnt until a few months ago I learned of this secret. By logging into the gateway management page, you enable MoCa, and the xb3 or newer gateway will eliminate the need for an extra box! The older actiontec 1.1 models still have 1gb ethernet ports, and the wireless radio is capable of being disabled. All I know is, I have a old house, and definitely am thankful I rewired the coax. Because even with a range extender, my smart devices dropped. The newer ones didnt really work much better than the older moca ones. I am a firm believer in not having the same network name broadcast everywhere, so at first it was frustrating w keepin the old ones. With those plume pods, that's what you get. You don't get 2.4 and 5ghz at the same time! (afaik) But you do get an ethernet port at each point. I have the 150mbps internet, quintuple play package. Right now I pay 193 a month with tax, thats for premier with all premium channels, xb3 gateway, main x1 and 3 "access boxes", home phone, xfinity home, and xfinity mobile x2 (yes its billed separately but i included it in the total like 5 bucks). Now that roku and tv mfrs have the stream beta workin fairly well, I will be most likely taking back 2 or 3 of my cable boxes to shave another 20-30 a month off the bill. The issue is, I somehow got lucky and have 12 tuners in my house lol. I have 2 x1's with 6 tuners each, then 2 of the tiny ones. I even tested it and i was able to have 3 tvs streaming and recorded more than 6 shows, so freakin cool. Anywho, great video.Check out reddit.com/r/comcast also if you have the triple play promo, make sure u get your ipad deal. 2018 ipad, 5 bucks a month, or just $120!!!!!

    Well I'm a field tech for Xfinity. If u have the 1g service you need the xb6 it has dual band the 2.4 tops off at 80 megs but the 5 gives you faster speeds depending on the device you use it on through wifi. Comcast does not guarantee wifi speed only directly connected. Smart phone will not be able to register the 1000 megs of wifi speed they usually top off at 300-400 megs.

    I just got this today and it 4-5x my speeds. Over wifi in the same room I am getting 300mbps download using my Samsung galaxy s8 plus. In kb/s using speed test it is 36,000 download which is crazy for me. I remember dialup hahah so the changes amaze me.

    I work for *Xfinity* , actually Im from those guys from the Equipment Update Department just watching what our customers are doing with this free new equipment, but these guy had me laughing alot, you are not supposed to have both of them and run some tests on the same location, your mileage will vary because of the firmware and technical limitations... the bootfile (your internet package provision) won´t be reached because of having the incorrect equipment, so you won´t get what you are paying for because the service detects what you are using to connect. Unless you have the right Wireless Gateway(Gateway=Modem) you will get some symptoms, they have a maximum output for megabits per second and you will recognize this easily because your internet is slower, or dropping constantly, or your modem is failing regularly in performance etc, etc...
    Arris TM722G 100mbps... My God you still have that one? Must be like 10 years old, I mean it is pretty close to a 2.0 *DOCSIS* modem ( That word is the version of a modem it really just tells you the maximum range of capacity for mbps and quality or atleast gives you an idea of the characteristics)
    XB1 Up to 150mbps... In my opinion still holds up for some low end packages.
    XB3 Up to 400mbps and it can still support all the way up until Blast Pro! internet as far as I know. *DOCSIS* 3.0
    XB6 Up to 1 Gigabit (1000mbps) most of the times available from Extreme Pro to Gigabit. DOCSIS 3.1 and some cool features with it.
    Also this is a *modem/router combo unit*, a modem translates the information from analog to digital so you can use it, basically a tower you can connect to, but if you want to connect wirelessly (Wifi) you need a router to do so and connect more than one device, and also to have more ethernet ports, you can also just get a Switch to get more ethernet ports, normally if a guy comes in and installs it he will give you one "if" required (Netgear 5 Gigabit ports, device name: GS105).
    Now for the rest of you people:
    The Installation... come on is really easy, see the cables on the other modem? Great, unplug them, now plug the coaxial cable and if you have Phone Service plug that cable as well into the new device, plug in the NEW power cord, and there you go... beautiful you completed the installation process, now we don´t have to charge you $40 or $70 dollars for somebody else to do it. (Sometimes the technician is free...but the idea is that YOU learn).
    Using a Mobile Phone to do an speedtest?! Well atleast you are using Ookla for the speed test, I recommend it too.
    No don´t use a phone!, Use the Ethernet cable "typically yellow" (you have two ports for this, and other two for the phone services as labeled at the back of the XB6) plug it into the port of a laptop or desktop computer, the other end goes into the Modem (obviously) do so for the XB6 of course, to get real results, this to ensure you are receiving your service completely.
    *Lights*: I might be wrong here, but I will try to edit this in the future.
    Red=Just worry about this one; something is definetely wrong, make sure the cables are tight, nothing is missing, might be a failed self installation kit, normally this is solved by an agent probably if not able to solve it, take to the store, get a new one or order a new one.
    Orange=The activation is still on process, might go red or green again during activation, should not worry about this one, but if it stays like this for a while, time to call tech support.
    Green=The activation process is ready to be started
    White= This is the light that must be on the modem after activation, it must stay in this light to be used this means it is working and is ready to be used at any time.
    *ACTIVATION*: Either download Xfi Advantage(it is not only for activations but also for changing the password, locking devices, enabling 2.4ghz or 5.0ghz frequencies, turning on or off the internet etc...more of that on the webpage) and follow the steps on your mobile, OR give us a call, we can activate this and the X1 cable boxes, I really want to educate you guys is not as difficult as it looks, pretty overwhelming at first I know, ...
    If you want to use your own equipment, we can still help you out choosing the right one, giving you recommendations, information checking what you need and/or what is more convenient, Activations for this one? Yes and No, not with us that´s with tech support but prepare the MAC address, Serial number, Brand and Model, just to help us locate or add it into the account so that we can get it up and running or help you further.
    We don´t *sell them, we only rent them*, so that is one way you can lower the bill on the long run, but it is going to be your responsability to either update the equipment(like to buy a new one) in the future or go back renting it because you will lack some features, and *equipment gets obsolete over time, specially now when technology is advancing pretty fast.*
    Also, I want apologize if you don´t get notified about this before hand, and you are like "Wtf did you guys made my internet slower and now you are forcing us to update?" please check your mail, emails, even when you call... we DO try to notify you, and yes service is degraded if you don´t update that´s why it is really important to keep devices up-to-date because they get old and soon after.. you have no cable, internet, nor phone service because they cannot keep up.
    *I recommend watching videos from Linus Tech Tips if you are new, or if you wanna learn more about this topic, yes in an easy and comprehensible way, Im 100% sure he educated me more than my entire training*
    Any questions you can ask them below, or ... you can give us a call ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

    • @El_Mouse

      If you are using the XB6, Wired Bridge Mode I suggest reading this: forums.tomshardware.com/threads/solved-getting-half-the-speed-on-my-network-configuration.2650615/
      In short words make sure you are using an ethernet cable that is CAT6, have IPV6 enable for the parameters to be automatically detected(remember to access the Admin Tool 10.0.1 it is a page to change all this settings of your modem) (Username should be *Admin* )(Password should be *password* [might be different if it asked you to change it] ), if you need more ethernet ports as it usually happens I do recommend the Switch from Netgear GS105 as Technicians give them to the customers in professional installations if requested, and support up to Gigabit Internet speeds.
      If you wish to know the difference from Router and Switch look here first reply:

    My netgear x4s c7800 blows the xb6 out of the water with speed and performance get gig + speeds, 4 gig Ethernet and usb 3.1 plus it has 3200 mbps wifi vs xb6 2600 mbps wifi. Stopped messing with xfinity rentel modems after I bought my first netgear cable modem the c6300 that out preformed the xb3 I had at the time, the xb3 would constantly drop my connection and data packets and the c6300 gave me better download speeds and never lost a connection.

      I understand that some modems are not compatible with comcast - so it sounds like you are able to use the netgear x4s c7800 and no other modem, and it works? Did Comcast have to do any special tweaking to make it work? I ask, because a couple years back i got a Netgear Nighthaqwk, and can only use it as a booster modem - comcast wouldn't support it and said it was incompatible, and only their modems are sure to be compatible. I am about too switxh out their XB2, b/c I only get 26 MB/S, and pay for 150 mb/s. I want to buy a modem that will at least gey me to the speed I pay for!

      @adubbproductions  6 років тому

      I’m not sure. I do know that as you stated some areas get faster speeds than others. I’m assuming in time the slower areas will get faster speeds as they improve their coverage areas and improve their infrastructure but that’s honestly a question for an employee. If they say you can get faster speeds if you get the new box then test it out if that’s what you want and hold them to what they said if your not getting the promised speed.

    You will never get those 1 gig speeds with an iPhone or any other smart phone. The highest speed for a phone is the google pixel and it tops out at 600 I think. iPhone X tops out at 450. MacBooks and better laptops will push the 1gig speed based on your speed tier wirelessly. Nothing is hardwired anymore everything is based on the device you’re using. The speeds are there if you pay for them but it’s a pretty penny to get 1 gig from comcast

    First, your speeds will be the same on either modem, unless you subscribe to the 1Gb service. That's the purpose of the XB6... to handle 1Gb subscription. Second, your phone speedtest will not show accurate speeds when you subscribe to speeds over 300MBps. To get an accurate speedtest, you must be wired straight to a PC or laptop. Third, don't run your speedtest immediately after provisioning your new modem... wait 5-10 minutes before running the speedtest.

Im not saying you need to call for an activation but give your modem some time to provision fully or try to unplug the power cord on the wall to let it do the reset again. and also please test 2.4ghz and 5ghz. If you only have one wifi network you can seperate it through the admin tool then activate the automatic band steering through the xfi app for auto transfer of wifi network.
