Hey Richard you gonna keep upping the hp sooner or later you will give us the top fuel hemi.. lol keep up the videos im learning what I want to do with mine 496 build
David Vizard did that test long ago. (One of his books!) "when testing air cleaner filter element types" and the oil bath was more restrictive than the worst paper filter elements. { Tests were done for air flow and for engine horsepower change. } Respectfully Kurt Osborne
Not true. You can only lean engine out so far for economy. Then you start with heat issues detanation issues untill it won't run at all. If you restrict the air supply. The engine won't rev and will be very inefficient. You are better with s smaller engine and a properly matched carb for mpg

Hey Richard .. When you think you'll do the intake mod and get the 8.1 back on the Dyno ? Sucks the Dyno broke when you did last time . The intake mod should make a big difference boosted plus do away with blowing boost in the crankcase thru the built in pcv system
@@MrScottt28 probably depends on how much clearancing you're willing to do - there are (aftermarket block, but standard deck) 598 BBCs with 4.600 bore 4.500 stroke, including from Blueprint. I imagine with enough die grinder work at the bottom of the cylinders the crank would fit in a factory block, obviously you aren't getting anywhere near that bore though.
@@richardholdener1727 how about a video on how to get the most hp out of a big block on pump gas. For the street guys that don’t want to chase e85 stations. I’m building a turbo 471BBC and am wondering how to get the most power and be able to street it all weekend. Love the knowledge and breakdowns you put together. Thank you and let’s make big blocks great again for the street!!
That was a great video Richard! I have a question for you. You stress a lot about ring gap when using power adders. Why not spend the extra $200 and just go with gapless rings and forget about it? Seems like cheap insurance to me? Are there issues with going gapless? Thanks!
Okay, because NO ONE HAS DONE THIS, directly slaving water injection to the fuel injection by running parallel sets of injectors that have "water rails" instead of fuel rails, so the same signal activating fuel injectors now activates a second, separate set of water injectors so you can tune water injection similar to how it was done in WWII fighter planes. Everyone just randomly puts in too much water at lower boost and not enough at higher boost. Find the ultimate parameters of water injection! Adjust timing for each level of water percentage injected!
Water Meth kits (like the Snow Boost Cooler) are very adjustable and the proper amounts can be supplied at different engine speeds and boost levels. Not sure you would see any benefit from the system with injectors (though individual cylinder systems are definitely a plus)
@@richardholdener1727 Because being able to exactly control the amount of water to accurately fight detonation and heat is far better when it is tied to the level of fuel injected, because much of the calculations for mass versus airflow have already been done to arrive AT that level of fuel injected and the timing thereof. In WWII, they were at 1:1 for mass of water versus mass of fuel. That can only be arrived at if you have a signal directly tied to the level of fuel injected. Most systems just do not accurately tie the level of water injected to the overall mass of air and/or fuel injected, which means there is more effective detonation/heat control available than is currently the accepted paradigm.
It’s easy to make 1 Hp per cubic inch,so just build 900 cubic in motors ,it’s not expensive if you simply just up size everything,as well as bumping up the RPM for every jump ..lol😂

Good information looking forward to putting a setup like this in my fairmont
Torque numbers are crazy. So is the price on those heads lol.Great video.
Some really nice combos! Just bring money-more for some of them…
Richard! Good work as usual, i was thinking of new comparoes and came up with old school oil bath air cleaner challenge vs. more modern air cleaners?

I want to see one that's kick start !
Need more videos like these I can't seem to make it to live sessions. But LOVE all your testing brother
I dont know if you've seen the one guy that put a briggs&stratten carb on a maveric 302! 40 mpg so he says!
thunderhead289 is goated for that
Thunderhead289! Yup, he did it!

Is a 4.250 crank the longest thatll go in a factory block?
Standard deck...

YOU CAN GO 4.375-BUT I DON'T LIKE THEM
What fuel were you running on the 540?
E85 UNDER BOOST
Do you have any 1000 hp na combo’s just wondering because Chevy has the 1000 hp crate motor that’s freakn $32000 😔
I bet someone could duplicate that combination with less 3xpensive parts. Im wondering if the top end will be available as a kit.
For that price, buy two!!
THERE HAVE BEEN PLENTY RUN AT WESTECH-MY BEST WAS 930 HP
That sweet sweet junkyard Gen 6 with twin Chinesium turbos for me thanks!!!!

Damn I was hoping you would of had an N/A combo for 1000hp
What fuel was used for these 3 setups?
RACE AND E85

no need to buy rings-just need extra gap for boost

So only NA,& boosted motors count !!!
