Eva should be in the Hall of Fame where she is the ONLY member. She's in a class all by herself. Eva Cassidy, I was not aware of you when you were alive... and I will regret that for the rest of my life.

People hear, see, feel and know, only what is pushed down their throat by those in full control of their reality 24/7. That's not the sad part. The sad part is that they want it that way.
Diagnosed with recurrent melanoma in July 1996, Eva passed in November. A great talent, who never reached her full potential. I will always find it ironic that she didn't think people would like her voice. Imagine. She hated being recorded because of self-consciousness. So many recordings were often done without her knowing it was happening, to keep her at ease. I'm grateful for it.
Eva would look down at her feet as you're trying to find that one word to describe what her singing does to ya.... fantastic, phenomenal, beautiful, great, amazing, breathtaking....... one could never exaggerate anything about her; it all leads to, essentially, "speechless".
Seriously. I was thinking that, too. Little did they know they were walking into a truly historical event and that this sensational talent would be gone less than a year later.

My 20yr old son passed recently. Music is the balm for your soul. So glad to hear this beautiful song over and over because it is so special like my "Big Boy"
People talk about her beautiful voice, which is true, but sometimes I think they forget what a truly gifted guitar player she was ... A supreme talent ...
MY wife and I were there at Blues Alley for her CD release concert, and had a very brief chat with her about the time we had seen her with Chuck Brown. What a sweet, lovely woman with the voice of an angel.
Man, what a voice. You can't teach this. Lord rest her soul. I never knew what happened. Sad news. She's performing for the angels now. Guarantee they are all sitting down listening.
Eva puts so much passion into every song she sings. If she sings about a train, you find yourself on that train. When she sings about fields of gold, you're walking through fields of gold. This can't be taught. It's a God given talent. And when it comes to the few people who have this talent, Eva Cassidy is far ahead of them all. RIP Eva.
Absolutely, I pray those golden gates opened up for this beautiful soul and if I'm so blessed to be welcomed in to heaven then maybe I can sing with her there, too.
I've seen many injustices ... but this one, eva cassidy not being recognized in life, is crazy, one of the most beautiful and expressive voices in the world.
i've got a big feeling eva's ministry and influence is going to effect the earth after she's in heaven .we ain't seen nothing yet. it's just going to grow .and grow and grow.AND GROW
Where have I been? This woman's voice is amazing. I heard her version Fields of Gold this weekend and flipped. She owns every song she sings. Such as shame her life was cut short.
What amazes me, is that some from the 50's/60's are terrified to listen to another artist performing something they know well, as though no one could do better than the first. That is just not so. So sad that that many are so closed minded that they will let so much drift over their life without living it to the fullest. Eva was a perceptive, emotional, unassuming individual with a God given talent that has been bypassed by millions because of their own egos. Tears me to shreds.
i had a similar experience... i heard her on the radio a long time ago... i was at work and driving my truck... when i heard it i had to pull over to collect myself... i could not believe it...
The real test of any artist is just to get up and perform live without any studio drop ins and digital wizardry....Eva shines like the true star she is. R..I.P beautiful woman. Without a doubt the Angels will rejoice at your coming.
I discovered this amazing woman with a beautiful voice while staying in a bed and breakfast on the northern coast of California what a talent what a loss
Oh, it really is. I had heard this by several artists before and know what it means. We are in a SEVERE situation and the position we are in may as well be the real lyrics as they were written, for those circumstances. With her presentation it turns from a "rough and tumble, fatal end" (as with many other artists), to a warning for a loving, bright future. Extremely powerful!
I played this for my mom when she was in a coma with multiple myloma. I would hold her hand and hope she could hear it. Eva has the most beautiful voice ever.
THANK YOU for this!! 50 years ago this week Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions hit the charts with People Get Ready. Nobody ever did it better... until Eva. One take. Live. As close to perfect as a song can be.
That's one thing I love about her version of Over The Rainbow, one daggone take, done live and it's spectacular. I have no idea how many takes Judy Garland's version took and it really doesn't matter because both are excellent versions, but one take!
I agree with you 100% I've been singing in the bands since I was 14 years old and I've never heard of her what a loss I have suffered one of the greatest singers I've ever heard the feeling that she puts out in her voice is amazing so sorry I never got to hear her live or meet her. May you rest in peace
She died almost an exact 10 months after this recording! I first heard of her when my two oldest were little around 1999. I saw the story on Dateline or 20/20. I was in tears! I rediscovered here once the internet took off a couple years later. She has a haunting beautiful voice. It's like she knew she would be here long and she just sang...thanks God she did. She sang "What a Wonderful World". Wow!

An ephiphany moment - a song about the upcoming tribulation and the saving of of the faithful - I have been listening to this song for 3 decades without realising i's significance - Matthew chapter 24. Thank you Eva.
It's nice to see a venue where the audience is respectful of the musician, no talking over the song, no people there who lack any kind of self control, making goofy vocalizations shouting "YeeeeHaaaa" and "Wooooooh", and no drunks wandering up to the front of the stage to block everyone's view. For me, Eva singing this song is more persuasive and moving than any number of preachers' sermons and also moves me closer to Jesus than any qords from a pulpit. .
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Ok hate me its Feb. 2023 I I just found her this year. Only a few people in the place but what a treat they got. From what I've seen she was way over looked in her short years. Maybe she would preferred it like that. Played her way not big business. Funny she's been gone many years and her site gets 270k subs. Thank you whoever set this channel up
Now that you've found the Holy Grail of Vocalists/Musicians, you must expand your Eva Cassidy palate by hearing these Eva songs on UA-cam: "San Francisco Bay Blues, "Over the Rainbow," "Woodstock," "Songbird," My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose," "Fields of Gold," "Tennessee Waltz," "Waly, Waly," "I Know You By Heart," "You Take My Breath Away," "True Colors," "I Wandered by a Brookside," "Autumn Leaves," "Anniversary Song," "Time After Time," "Imagine," "Way Beyond the Blue," "Early One Morning," "Time is a Healer," "Bridge Over Troubled Water," to name a few. 🙂 ua-cam.com/video/aDN_ss1S_5Y/v-deo.html
This girl could SING whether it was blues, jazz, R&B, gospel, pop, or soul. Major labels wouldn't sign her because she was so eclectic. They wanted her to choose a genre. She refused. It wasn't until a D.J. in England played her rendition of "Over the Rainbow." All of a sudden Eva became a hot commodity. By then it was too late, she was diagnosed with cancer, and the world lost a brilliant talent. You can hear her music here on UA-cam. R.I.P. Eva Cassidy, and thank you!

This is easily her best vocal performance. It's energy is source directly from the center of the universe. It is everything that is contained in one song
I was a fan of hers since the very beginning. Maybe the best thing about living in the D.C. area back then, she got played by some of the radio stations around there.
No flourish. Nothing grandiose. Nothing extra. No wasted effort. Nuance. Everything adds only to the body of the story being told. One voice that is a band unto itself. A once in a generation talent. Simply, mesmerizing. Simply....Eva.

She didn't bow to the standard of cleavage and caking on makeup, that's a big reason why. I'm glad she said no thank you and did her own thing.
People hear, see, feel and know, only what is pushed down their throat by those in full control of their reality 24/7. That's not the sad part. The sad part is that they want it that way.
That requires someone to invest money. Unfortunately that someone never came along for Eva.

Tears of joy, every time I hear her marvelous, soulful voice!!
I firmly believe that 500 years in the future, people will still be singing and listening to this song.
If humans make it that far
the song is older than she is so duh
Troll and you are the dumb one. Your statement makes no sense at all.
We never know the magic we are creating in a moment.
This moment is magic.
So live your life in excellence. The world needs you magic!
How anyone could thumbs down 👎🏻 this is beyond me
RIP Eva & thank you for sharing your amazing talent with the world 🌎
Agree. Check out this cover.ua-cam.com/video/caLwwIayyY8/v-deo.html
For me, Eva singing this song is more persuasive and moving than any number of preachers' sermons and also moves me closer to Jesus than any qords from a pulpit. .
She is now with our Lord celebrating a Heaven...
And still are....but here voice are livin'.......👍🎶
I do hope she knew the Lord
Ok hate me its Feb. 2023 I I just found her this year. Only a few people in the place but what a treat they got. From what I've seen she was way over looked in her short years. Maybe she would preferred it like that. Played her way not big business. Funny she's been gone many years and her site gets 270k subs. Thank you whoever set this channel up
Today I have discovered Eva Cassidy. THANKS TO TUCKER CARLSON in his premier on UA-cam.
Life didn't give Eva more time to show her greatness. So unfair. She would have been a great one.
This girl could SING whether it was blues, jazz, R&B, gospel, pop, or soul. Major labels wouldn't sign
her because she was so eclectic. They wanted her to choose a genre. She refused. It wasn't until
a D.J. in England played her rendition of "Over the Rainbow." All of a sudden Eva became a hot
commodity. By then it was too late, she was diagnosed with cancer, and the world lost a brilliant
talent. You can hear her music here on UA-cam. R.I.P. Eva Cassidy, and thank you!
Ian an old man of77 years and she is just so brilliant and natural
Thank The Lord for Eva Cassidy..
I listened to at least 5 other versions of this song by artists Alicia Keys, Joss Stone, Al Green and more. Your rendition is BY FAR the BEST!
Saundra Grange did you listen to the original by Curtis Mayfield?
Areatha Franklin
Love Eva's version. Love this one too: ua-cam.com/video/SN42CaB9xHw/v-deo.html
Chambers Brothers
Kenny Rankin has a good one. ua-cam.com/video/JfgWX9kY1vY/v-deo.html
she sings pure truth and no time for keeping on sinners, its all about love
People get ready
There's a train a-coming
You don't need no baggage
You just get on board
All you need is faith
To hear the diesels humming
Don't need no ticket
You just thank the Lord
People get ready
For the train to Jordan
Picking up passengers
From coast to coast
Faith is the key
Open the doors and board them
There's room for all
among the loved the most
There ain't no room
for the hopeless sinner
Who would hurt all mankind just
To save his own
Have pity on those
whose chances are thinner
Cause there's no hiding place
From the Kingdom's Throne
So people get ready
for the train a-comin'
You don't need no baggage
you just get on board !
All you need is faith
to hear the diesels humming
Don't need no ticket
you just thank, you just thank the Lord
Yeah
Ooh
Yeah
Ooh
I'm getting ready
I'm getting ready
this time I'm ready
this time I'm ready

The Spirit and the Bride say Come Lord Come. Amen! Blessed be the name of the Lord whom was and is and is to come at the appointed time amen. ( revelations 22 kjv)
Smiles, hello Mary 🌺 😊
This is easily her best vocal performance. It's energy is source directly from the center of the universe. It is everything that is contained in one song
People get ready.

Magnificent voice without all the vocal acrobatics young singers resort to these days. Gone much too soon.
That memory of listening to Eva Cassidy in the Land Cruiser in Nairobi, Kenya when I was little took me way down Memory Lane.
I was a fan of hers since the very beginning. Maybe the best thing about living in the D.C. area back then, she got played by some of the radio stations around there.
That's like.. Jeff Beck guitar-playing and Aretha vocals!!!
Thank The Lord for Eva Cassidy.
Has this song ever been performed better? No. Never. This was it.
RIP😢😥😭💜💜🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😇😇Gone much too Soon
My favorite female singer of all time!
Don't be dismayed, go listen to Aretha!
Faultless performance. I bless the day I heard your beautiful voice for the first time. God bless you Eva, RIP
Anyone still here 2021? What a voice x
Smiles, hello Wendy 🌺 😊
Beautiful, soulful, deep, loving, pure, and spiritual. God has her now in heaven; asking her to sing it again, one more time.
Just an unbelievable voice and soul. Wonderful guitarist ad well. Everything she sings brings tears. Incredible.
If Id arrived in that venue not knowing what to hear, I would be stunned out of my shoes and privilaged for ever after.
