Another useful tool is using stock simulators. The one I use is called How the Market works. The good thing about this is you use fake money to buy and sell stocks. They even have monthly contests you can compete against other people to get prizes and rank against others. This way you can find out what type of stock investor you are. If you can watch a stock go up and down without flinching then it shows you have confidence in your stock pick, but I would set a stop/limit at a certain point. If you are biting your finger nails every hour then you may want to only pick stocks that are pretty stable in the market and only take conservative risks.

Another way is you can buy the stock directly. Go to the company website you want to invest, go to the investor relations page, and click the transfer agent. It'll transfer you to one of two websites.

Once again, great advice VLAD . I use Robinhood faithfully. Anyone getting their feet wet will love the app. I've had a couple of them, Robin hood, Stash, Acorn,Etc. They all work a bit different, but I eventually ended up using Robinhood as my primary choice for investing.

Another good app is stash app great for new investors that don’t have a large amount of money to play with.. Robin Hood is good but you have to buy whole shares on there stash you can buy fractional share and watch your money grow over time if you put it into the right things
I got the Robin hood and Acorns app on my phone. Acorns is a great investment app too. Easy to use!

Dj Vlad when you buy stocks from Robinhood is their a limit to invest, or could i invest like $300-$500. Im not rich and dont have a lotta money but ive been wanting to play the stock market and learn but at the same time i cant afford to lose hella money either. Thats why i only want to invest a few hundred to begin with.

You forgot about banks.. but I guess they could be considered a "discount broker". Most banks offer 10-25 free trades before actually charging you for trading/selling. It's another great way to get started AND most of you already have an account at these institutions.. ie. no need to open up yet another account with someone else. j/s

robinhood makes their money by selling your the stock at a higher price when going long and selling it to you at a lower price when shorting. robinhood fees are embedded within each trade bka commission based and commission free trades
