    As someone who has broken this motor apart more times than I choose to count due to timing, THE TINY HOLE IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS! I thought I would be able to tell with the head off where the piston should be to time... WRONG. You need to see that line in that small hole and then lock the crankshaft as suggested with a longer bolt. The retailers have some special tool to lock it that is not sold to the public, so use a bolt.
    The only thing I can as a suggest is rather than turning the engine with the special tool down where you put the impeller shaft, you can use a T50 star bit to turn the motor over from the valve train, BUT BE SURE TO REMOVE ALL VALVE BUCKETS!! Failure to do so will still open and close valves, which may bend valves when you turn the motor over with the cams (took me 2 sets of valves to figure that out.) with the buckets out, the valve train can’t make contact with valves
    Great video!

    Thanks for posting the video - i struggled and struggled to find that line as well. (mirror, flashlight ,... so on) I have another crank sitting here and its is notched out as a ">" on the crank. Still having issues with the Spark and seems like timing or a sensor (sensors and wiring tested fine) - but believe that's what i was looking for. Hope that is correct ..

    Whats the tool to you used to crank the engine to get the piston to top dead center?

      There's an special tool for that but you can use the same shaft with a pipe wrench, also the piston #3 is coming up when you see Mark on the crankshaft

    If you set timing mark of the crankshaft to the small hole, the second or the center piston should be fully on top? I am right?

    • @leomarrero
      @leomarrero  Рік тому

      i don't have a motor available right now to confirm that but 100% look at the video again, just do it by marks, remaining i think the 2nd piston was close to top end center but not totally up

    No matter what I do, I cannot find that mark. The piston closest to the rear of the jetski is all the way down and I see metal but no distinctive line. I have moved the driveshaft back and forth to see where it is but still nothing. Any suggestions? 2016 Seadoo Spark
