Hi Jack... Nice!! Beautiful playing...
Thank you Tim!
Am I the only person who wishes that there were guitar solos like this on today's music? I can totally imagine you playing over the changes on "I Lose Control" for example. Your ability to show and encourage us to use the basic blues vocabulary and play other chord progressions and songs using that feel and sound is nothing short of impressive. Thank you!
Still the best teacher on Blues Scales and Harmony on UA-cam. If you dive into his teaching (which is always verbally presented perfectly) and put the effort/work in learning!! you will become a better player.
Jack is one of the best teachers out there, IMO. Concepts so clearly explained and showcased. Plus, I love how he stays melodic and leaves so much space no matter which approach he's diving into. I'm a Patreon member of his - highly recommended!
The best teacher on UA-cam!!
Love it. Thought I'd be the first comment but apparently some of you guys were here overnight in sleeping bags.
I have always loved players like you that understand the importance of combining familiar resolutions with the more outside jazzier ideas but even your more cliched resolutions have a unique beauty and taste that makes them great. I’m commenting while listening to it a second time, love it!
Hey Jack, great presentation. That phrase you played at 4:17 was amazing. Loved that progression as well.
I've been working on playing the changes for so long that sometimes I forget that ripping pentatonic over everything can be the best option
I got most out of the the “approach” term each approach has a different feel and sound so this helps me stop thinking what should I play and moves me to how do I want to sound - thanks Jack
Lovely playing. Classy 👍 and that tone! Heaven.
Thanks for another great lesson. In my opinion you are the most tasteful and melodic guitarist today. Your lessons are very well thought out and clearly demonstrate the concepts used in your solos. Can’t wait for more of your videos 🤩
It only took me 6 seconds to smash the thumbs up icon. So sweet!
Sometimes there is nothing better than a plain old cheeseburger. Through some lettuce, tomato and onion on it and it is better yet. The more ingredients you know how to use well, the more interesting you will be. One great thing about your playing (that would make a great lesson) is your slippery, slidey way of playing slurs. Awesome and unique in my experience. You should write an instrumental called "Slurred Speech" utilizing every trick up your long sleeve! So tasty!!
Thanks Jack for another tasty, usable lesson.
Thank you, and I very much appreciate that you care about rhythm and being aware of tempo. Most are almost entirely unaware of time.
The last solo was how it should be done! Using a combination of approaches!😎
Man you just keep coming out with excellent material ❤❤❤❤....your a good person.!!!
Excellent as always, Jack, thank you and have a good weekend!
Jack is so smooth especially with his bends and vibrato that I have a hard time watching other teachers and concentrating on what they’re doing when theirs sounds like nails on a chalkboard or a nervous buzzing bee. 😂
Thank you Mr. Ruch for taking the time to make these videos. I've learned so much and my playing has improved tremendously, thanks to you, I sincerely mean it. 😀
All the approaches were extremely sweet and melodic. Totally right in the pocket where it grabs you emotionally, fitting the changes like a glove! The third one's the coolest though, where are you incorporated a few Jazz ideas, ala Robben Ford. You make it seem so easy because you play very patient. That's what I always have a hard time with because I'm a very busy player. For the blues, one of my biggest influences has always been Roy Buchanan, so there you go for the busy aspect! Another ultra fav has always been Johnny Winter! Once again very busy. Just depends upon taste or the moment I guess. People have always told me to slow down, but it's just how I interpret things.
Beautiful! 👍
The "smoothness" in wich your play is beyond Impressive, always Amazing Jack
awesome playing
beautiful music!! thank you @JackRuch
That was really good!
The last one was great, but I also liked the first one with pentatonics
This is great. I like all the solos myself but I think the final solo combining all techniques sound more natural to me. Great stuff!
Absolutely fantastic have a wonderful day Jack ❤😊
Very Bell Bottom Blues...brilliant. Such amazing touch and melody. Incredible.
Thank you Jack.....for the inspiration. Nice to see you listing your gear too......just downloaded my 1 year membership card on Patreon. .....cool idea I thought ...making them collectable.
Fantastic stuff, man. Super clear and helpful. Keep em coming
Great bluesy feel Jack.
Beautiful..Jack as always awesome
Your fingers and tone are sweet as honey and smooth like butter. Damn sweet!
Nice stuff mate and thanks for sharing.
Oooh, my teeth hurt. That was so sweet.
Thanks for the vid! Great playing, sounds cool, and very informative!!
You had me at example 1. (Hey, it worked for Clapton!) But bringing it all together in the end was revelatory. I think it helps to set parameters like that when you practice so you don’t get hung up on any one thing-major/minor pentatonic, stock phrases, chord tones, etc. I shall endeavor to do just that!
Unreal!
Great! Could you please share the backing track on your Patreon page? Thanks
You have to teach those Nashville boys about harmony, grace and theory Jack. You play smooth as butter with exquisite note selection. So many others just beat the thing like a frustrated child. Uncle Larry doesn't teach music, he bleeds ego.
Good lesson can I hv the chords thx 🙏🏻
Phenomenal. As always. Your Patreon is one of the best investments I've ever made. Thank you for all of the amazing inspiration.
Sounds really good. If I buy your course do I get a 335 with it?
Jack, I know you're a veteran player which makes everything you do look simple. In this one, I noticed how easy your bends looked. What gauge strings do you suggest for the Gibson scale length vs the Fender? I want my bends to be as smooth and accurate as yours, but I think the 11's on my LP are just too heavy. Am I wrong?
You may want to try 10’s
What are the chords? Thx
Insane you didn’t know theory when you started because you talk like you were taught it from birth. I feel like I could never know all you know. Course I’m not a professional so there’s that I guess.
I think the trick is to just learn one thing at a time. If you learn one thing a day or even one thing a week, you will really know your shit sooner than you might think
