Why didn't they address the elephant in the room: the fact that Carney cheated! He is the one to blame. And he is the one with the problem. A slap in the face is a normal reaction when your spouse is cheating on you.

so twisted how he abuses her good character then calls the cops when he cheats on her and she slaps him for it. if hes cheating while the kids are in diapers, he will never stop. thats why many couples divorce while the kids are still in diapers. he's telling her where he wants to spend his time and that he will punish her in anyway he can if she fights back. since they are business partners, that will make the financial situation a living hell when they divorce.

You can see the pain in her eyes. She's in a one-sided relationship with a guy that can't even join her to stand up for their marriage WITH her. Carney is a loser. Michelle is so talented and beautiful, and I've been a fan forever!
This guy is RUINING HER, and I hope she sees the light soon! I know it's not always easy; I, too, was a victim of very similar abuse myself whilst caring for a new baby as a nursing mother, postpartum. I know it's difficult, but I know she'll come to her senses soon....it takes time to finally have had enough, but I know it'll happen.

My mum is a teacher, she used to look after kids with special needs but now does some kind of admin job. (My mum also studied pathology but never finished her degree after getting married and having kids.)

Hmm I dunno about this. This comment, and the two replies above me, are the kind of responses that have allowed domestic abuse against men to carry on. “Grow a set” and comments like this create a stigma for men not to be able to come forward.
He might’ve cheated which is terrible, but these kind of responses to “just a slap” are exactly why men feel embarrassed to come forward.

I just want to say that If you are unhappy you should leave. I I looked at my marriage like a beautiful house that everybody could look at from the outside that I could never let crumble. And in movies and tv shows and in real life people said Marriage is hard! this is what you have to do,fight for this. I would feel guilty when I could even stand the sound of his voice over the phone. cause I was supposed to be happy and I was supposed to be very lucky.
I filed for divorce, first days felt terrible but the best thing I have done. Our son supported us 100 %
@@Cloudetower There's a culture of letting the wife do all the heavy lifting whilst the husband frolics around. Marriage is supposed to be a partnership of equals. You aren't supposed to give up your soul for someone who barely cares about you. Not to say that this necessarily applies to Patrick, but it is something to think about. I really do love her. I can relate to her on a personal level. There's a lot going on in my life that isn't very positive, so that's part of the reason.

@@derp12345 Her lyrics are very personal and honest. Her vocals are beautiful (listening to some of her tracks from Broken Bracelet makes me want to cry). The instrumentals on all of her tracks are awesome. I'm very much an instrumentalist, but I've gotten into vocals largely because of her. Also, I'm mainly a pianist, but I've started learning the guitar because of her (I also like Vanessa Carlton, who is a pianist, and who is sometimes associated with Michelle).

@@derp12345 I'll have a look at it, thanks! Michelle is honestly one of my role models, even though I haven't met her yet. I live in Australia, and I'm 21, so that's part of the reason. But I have a good sense for a person's character, and I can tell that Michelle is a people person. She has a big heart, and she tries to be herself as best she can.

I'm not sure if Mr. Carney cheated on her or not, but even if he did? Physical abuse (something tells me it was more than just a smack upside the head) is never okay. No matter who does it and no matter the reason. I give Michelle props for recognizing this and recognizing there are things that need to be worked on. If he cheated on her? Then I hope she does leave him. So far though, I haven't heard any rumblings of a divorce procedure resuming so for now, I guess it hasn't happened yet.

This is very disturbing that she even had to come on here and justify her actions. Truth is there are just some areas in life that men and women are not equal in. Men can not have children. They don't have to go through the pain, emotional and hormonal ups and down a woman goes through with carrying a child and then given birth to a child. With all the advances of medicine, child birth can still be a risk. A next area men and women are not equal in... physical strength! So she JUST gave birth to their second child, probably just experiencing her first night on the town after 6 months of breast feeding, sleep deprivation, constant bottle washing, blanket washing, baby clothes washing, washing of birpping cloths, diaper changes, and stimulating your child. Not to mention all the demands of her other child a toddler!!! She's excitied to have a drink and relax after over a year of no alcohol. And unbeknowst to her, she finds out that her husband is cheating on her while she thinks she is being the best wife and mother ever at home with 2 kids under 2. Yes, he should be slapped, while there is no good time to find out your husband is cheating on you, but to find out he did so just after giving birth when you feel so vulnerable and not quite confident in your body is enough to make you deck him several times not slap him once! While abuse by women on men should not be tolerated, we all know much more damage can be done if a man would slap a woman the size of Michelle Branch with the totality of all his strength and his body weight behind it. She slapped him once, and if he was really a man, he would have took it and called that game even if he was truly sorry for breaking her emotionally and mentally because that is what he did. He disrespected her, their marriage, their kids and the life they built together. And he did it at an extremely vulnerable time in her life. Rather than have his wife be carted off and booked on domestic violence charges ESPECIALLY knowing her career. He's just a disrespectful wimp. I know it's the father of her kids so I will say what she can only think and can't say out of respect for her kids. I love her even MORE for this. No love lost with this fan.

Michelle Branch is perfect. If you're married to Michelle, then she is your only option, because you aren't going to find someone else better than her, period (regardless of your own jankiness as a man). There are women equal to her, but she's pretty much the highest standard that women (should) aspire to.

No one wants to deal with a violent single mom regardless of her income, that's far from perfect.
