I've been a Lowden player since 1998. Le Bleu was recorded on a Lowden. This particular guitar was one I handpicked the wood for at the Lowden factory in Ireland in 2000--that was a cool day.
Its always awesome to hear. Le Bleu has been one of my most influential albums and was the reason I started learning guitar. I'm always curious how you came to this sound though musically. How did you find this influence with this Civil war/Celtic fingerstyle composition technique? Because I hear this too in Prinsengracht and Winter on the Hill. Its kind of like a fireplace fingerstyle with some hint of melancholy.
Justin King... You are the single best acoustic musician I have ever seen. And I love this song. :). Dont you dare fall into pop culture and let society take that gift from you.
BackyardTattoo yeah all he's doing is playing solo's and rhythm at the same time. and that's just boring? look that word up if you're going to throw it around...
Just my humble opinion about the folks who dont like or wont respect talent like this.... They are the people you drive next to and get to watchwhile they are SMASHING there horn. Screaming at the world about how un just life is because every one on earth is MAKING them soooo late. Ive got a solution for those who shal not be named... get up 10 minutes early, bookmark this or or something simular, take a deep breath, dont count, dont listen to any thing else, put down the phone, and simply drift with the ebb and flow of the music. Youre wife will come back, youre dog will be found, you wont be late, you will not get fired, youre best friend will be just that, and life WILL be good my friend.
knock on wood gets you into this guy but then you see stuff like this and go Whoa... man... this is up with with stuff like Will Ackerman, Phil Keaggy and others. Really great tune! melody will always rule over all pyrotechnics if you ask me.
Not being a fan of the slap style of playing (I must be old), I enjoy these creative pieces. Justin has as nice style this way as he does with his signature slap style. BTW, I'm a Lowden Fan player also, love the balance and clarity.
@BrighamHB Can't say I know!Although, he says in another Scrabo Tower vid (posted by vaughanabe13) that he composed the song while visiting George Lowden in Ireland (presumably to have a guitar made)...and he has said he composed Le Bleu in 1999/2000..so its been a good decade or so!
@jasspie Billy McLaughlin plays a similar style and a few years back had to re-learn the guitar by switching from right to left hand playing. There is a video here that details what happened to him and why he was forced to make the switch.
@jasspie Pierre Bensusan has a mesmerising and unique fingerstyle technique partly borrowed from traditional classical and flamenco style. He plays exclusively in DADGAD (on a Lowden too), check out the live versions of Wu Wei and Nice Feeling.
This song has many similarities with jon gomm - passionflower and jon butler - ocean, for example here 0:38-0:47 It is cool to see how musicians reference each other, even if subconsciously.
There are no similarities to Ocean, come on man. Why cause you heard a few notes that "sound" familiar..no way, no reference and no similarity at all, I think it's all JK. At his level he no longer needs influence, HE'S the inspiration!!!
@jasspie What about Don Alder watch?v=-vocEYP0NsI or John Doan watch?v=eSypqOGqH38 Either way, I respect all these people as brilliant musicians for their technicality and passion.
Well I guess there is a humongous amount of great jazz music your missing out on. One example John Coltrane's album "A Love Supreme"! Hands down I have never heard anything more deeply spiritually charged.
@thediscgolfvids Just get really serious about guitar. And learn stuff you know isn't too far above your level, that poses a challenge, and learning more time consuming techniques.
2024 and I’m still listening and loving both this song and album…
Timeless piece

I have been coming back here, going 8 yrs now. Guitar is such a beautiful instrument. And the way u play it...its a beautiful sound

The progression from 2:11 to 2:20 is some of the most beautiful guitar work I’ve ever heard in my entire life. Justin King is an absolute legend.
No Mither, No Problem Sounds like the things that are happening around us right now.
This should have more like 46 million views.

because is boring.
BackyardTattoo Uncultured swine is what you are.
BackyardTattoo yeah all he's doing is playing solo's and rhythm at the same time. and that's just boring? look that word up if you're going to throw it around...
Justin McDonald
I've never offended anyone. I just expressed a personal opinion.

My first guitar hero
3:15. Enough said. That part makes me smile every. Freaking. Time.
knock on wood gets you into this guy but then you see stuff like this and go Whoa... man... this is up with with stuff like Will Ackerman, Phil Keaggy and others. Really great tune! melody will always rule over all pyrotechnics if you ask me.
He is the master of those fuckin harmonics
@200StringGuitar Well said, 100% spot on
That use of harmonics at about the 1:30 mark is awesome.
Not being a fan of the slap style of playing (I must be old), I enjoy these creative pieces. Justin has as nice style this way as he does with his signature slap style.

Candyrat should sign this guy!
id love to play my 5 guitars like this
I actually like this version better than the one on the original album :P
1:43 - 2:03 love that part >.

wow
@Discreetscars i'm working on one, fingers crossed for july! i'll message you and post the link up on the video when its done.
@jasspie Pierre Bensusan has a mesmerising and unique fingerstyle technique partly borrowed from traditional classical and flamenco style. He plays exclusively in DADGAD (on a Lowden too), check out the live versions of Wu Wei and Nice Feeling.
it's a very beautiful lowden!
what's the top and back material of this guitar? thanks
Cool for sleeping

Lowden and open tunings pair well..omao
Though he's in standard here right?
No he's got the guitar in DADGAD (Not regarding the capo, so I guess it's a step up from that)
Makes me feel like I am in Paris
What two mics are these? The tone is incredible. I'm looking to start recording my album in January and am trying to find the perfect mics.
Justin King - Paris Morning (acoustic cover)

Discuss -

@jasspie also check out tony mcmanus
Tuning?
@jasspie What about Don Alder watch?v=-vocEYP0NsI or John Doan watch?v=eSypqOGqH38
Either way, I respect all these people as brilliant musicians for their technicality and passion.
Stay tuned ^ lol.
What genre is this?
JJMetallica11 Could be experimental...cause it has no genre
it's Fingerstyle
can someone told me .. what tune is this
I’m not entirely sure, but my best guess would be standard tuning (EBGDAe) with a capo on the 2nd fret
I actually I just found out that Justin kind likes to use and play in DADGAD tuning, so most likely that’s what it is
:)
@jasspie Tony McManus is another. Also more celtic, however.
...and in the background someone suddenly yells........"FREEBIRD!!!!!"
Well I guess there is a humongous amount of great jazz music your missing out on. One example John Coltrane's album "A Love Supreme"! Hands down I have never heard anything more deeply spiritually charged.
@tanyank7 His recent stuff isn't like this though :(
eesh
not french enough fro the title. i would if called it, Midsomer Norton afternoon.
can you sing my guitars
@200StringGuitar Victor Wooten
DADGAD
@jasspie HAHAHAHAHAH...u like his fingerstyle
You can only truly appreciate this if you play guitar.
@webandit1 Justinking(dot)com. Best purchase I've ever made.
@gregmusselman whoops i accidently thumbs-downed you instead of replying - sorry! but no, thats a lowden, an O-25 C i believe.
Then you should probably also check out Tommy Emmanuel.
@thediscgolfvids Just get really serious about guitar. And learn stuff you know isn't too far above your level, that poses a challenge, and learning more time consuming techniques.
Quite quiet this song of his...not enough sustaining bass
Just ridiculous. If you can watch the first minute without saying "fuck it, I give up on guitair" I commend you.
And this is the easiest song he plays
👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
Somebody's JEALOUS!!!
I want to see him and Andy McKee play together!
Wow
