  • The Avia CS-199 was a two-seater trainer aircraft constructed in Czechoslovakia. That was a development of the Messerschmitt Bf 109G 12 trainer aircraft. Like the single seat Avia S-199 fighter; both aircraft were made from BF-109 parts and production tools left over in Czechoslovakian arms factories. With the only major modification of the airframes, being altered to accommodate the Junkers Jumo 211F engine. Due to the unavailability of the original Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine, (which powered the later BF-109 models) for the Czechoslovak production lines.
Between 1948 until 1951 a total of 82 CS-199 were built. All would serve with the Czechoslovakian Air Force, with the Prostějov Aviation Academy. However, the aircraft suffered from numerous mechanical problems. Resulting a large number being lost in training accidents. Caused from both pilot error and engine failures. Both the S-199 and CS-199 were finally withdrawn from service in 1957.
The kit is a vintage KP Models, that of course is second hand. Amazing all the parts were there, aside from an aged decal sheet. The kit was an easy build, but did require a bit of putty. And the replacement of the serial numbers that were too yellowed. With inkjet-printed, homemade decals.
