My mom became Croatian obsessed when she went to Croatia in 1974. She invented a different Burek by accident when I was a kid. She would fry it on top of the stove with cottage cheese in it and all are Croatian friends and family loved it because it was super crispy. Have you guys heard the Samoan Klapa brothers who sing Klapa and tour Croatia and the world singing Croatian songs ?
As a travel I just love seeing other travelers like you embracing new culture and appreciate country you are visiting. Buying Croatian shirt, or using Hvala for Thanks or Riva for promenade means a lot for me as a Croatian. My wife and I were on holiday in Croatia last month. We flew into Split and from overhead it looked a beautiful place. We stayed on the Dalmatian coast south of Makarska, midway between Split and Dubrovnik. The coast line was beautiful and the mountain ranges stunning. Have fun.
You arrived to the sea shore. Cool. Croatian coast is one of the best in the world. If you have time and means I suggests to visit Šibenik and Trogir. They are smaller version of Split. Also if you can visit croatians islands it would be great. Find a little cousie beach and enjoy in shade of a some pine tree. Wish you best in your further journey.

You sat at my favourite cafe on the Riva! Miss Split, it is so beautiful. I love how you eat and drink through countries and your love for the Balkans. Food in Split does not compare to Bosnia though :)
You have to try grilled squid or octopus with garlic, oliveoil and grilled vegetables. Along with veliki karlovacko pivo. Go to Omiš - radmanove mlinice and try their bread

Hello. While Split is wonderful and has many amazing things, it's only the Balkan countries that were under Turks that have a good burek. So the Bsnian burek is the genuine burek.
No worries, plenty of bosnians and albanians in split and croatia alike, they basically have a monopoly on bakeries, i tried burek all across the balkans, still the best one i had in my life was in dubrava, zagreb in one old albaninan's joint, it literally melted in your mouth.
You have to know something... Burek can't be with cheese, or potato, only with meat. You can call it pie with cheese, but not Burek with cheese. I though you learned something in Bosnia 😅😅
Triangle Burek have more fat than rolled Burek. The taste and "Fatness" also vary from Bakery to Bakery. Always ask local people where is the best Burek, Ćevapi, Pizza...
There are Bosnian muslims ( now calling themselves Bosniaks) , Bosnian Croats, Bosnian Serbs etc. There is no "Bosnian" ethnic group as the name Bosnia is named after the Bosna river.

Been to split. Very nice. I loved Dubrovnik better. Obviously a must see is inside the walls but there are some nice beach clubs/ bars right on the outskirts. Enjoy. All the best guys.

@@demiaeclash1 come to Albania, you will find all kinds of filling on top of what you mentioned: rice and chicken, bulgur and fermented plums, fermented cabbage, onions and tomatoes, tomatoes end beans, leeks, nettle, even fish and sea food etc. etc. depending on the area and their specialty. But as you said: you have to go in the families.

Been to split. Very nice. I loved Dubrovnik better. Obviously a must see is inside the walls but there are some nice beach clubs/ bars right on the outskirts. Enjoy. All the best guys.
