I had no idea he performed two songs that afternoon. I had always assumed he just popped in to show off his new song Mr. Tambourine Man, I guess I was wrong. Thanks for uploading!
That's one of my favorite quotes about Dylan "ran away from home 17 times and got brought back 16." Knew about that quote for a long time before this video, but thanks anyway for reminding me.
Great hearing this. I was 10 years old and lived 2 blocks from St Michael's School where this afternoon workshop took place, I'll never forget his playing It Ain't Me Babe as his first song and then Mr. Tamborine Man. It made an immediate and profound effect on me. I was also there for his 1965 "goes electric" performance which has proven to be a timeless and amazing performance!
Go 'way from my window, Leave at your own chosen speed. I'm not the one you want, babe, I'm not the one you need. You say you're lookin' for someone Never weak but always strong, To protect you an' defend you Whether you are right or wrong, Someone to open each and every door, But it ain't me, babe, No, no, no, it ain't me, babe, It ain't me you're lookin' for, babe. Go lightly from the ledge, babe, Go lightly on the ground. I'm not the one you want, babe, I will only let you down. You say you're lookin' for someone Who will promise never to part, Someone to close his eyes for you, Someone to close his heart, Someone who will die for you an' more, But it ain't me, babe, No, no, no, it ain't me, babe, It ain't me you're lookin' for, babe. Go melt back into the night, babe, Everything inside is made of stone. There's nothing in here moving An' anyway I'm not alone. You say you're looking for someone Who'll pick you up each time you fall, To gather flowers constantly An' to come each time you call, A lover for your life an' nothing more, But it ain't me, babe, No, no, no, it ain't me, babe, It ain't me you're lookin' for, babe.
I also did not know that, and it makes the event even more significant: this was the "topical song writer workshop", where topical songwriters were supposed to be showcasing their topical songs. Dylan came out and did "It ain't me babe", i.e. he is not Pete Seeger's or anyone else's topical songwriter, then Mr Tambourine Man, the most anti-topical; song you can think of.
Suzie Ritolo I believe she's the one of freewheelin cover., tomorrow is a long time, boots of Spanish leather, don't think twice, all confirmed about her so I'm sure this was too being same period.
@@mrjasondylan I don’t think he treated her bad. I think he was just dealing with the pressures of a newly found career and he was being pulled so many directions he had to go his own. She wanted him to be the voice of the peace movement. Which he was, but he was over it. They had the songs. He ended up getting with Sara and the rest is history. Joan felt Bob owed her for introducing him to the folk music world. He should have invited her on stage for the acoustic set. But, truthfully those performances in Don’t look back couldn’t have been better. He knew what he wanted for the film as far as songs are concerned. If he treated her so badly she wouldn’t have went on rolling thunder
Loved Dylan from 60's to 90's He had a style & voice that just grabbed at your soul. I suppose the drugs, cigarettes & booze caught up to him by the turn of the century, but it sounds like he was just mumbling the songs, which was a shame for those of us who wanted our kids & grandkids to experience him At least we have the old records & videos to remember his best days
Dylan sings this song with the edge the lyrics call for. The Turtles covered it, but their smooth version doesn't do justice to the lyrics filled with hurt.

And he did mention them They dont sound anything alike, but its obvious, to me at least . I could be wrong
Yeah I can see the similarities there. Dylan himself plagiarized a TON of stuff in the early days though. Masters of War was taken note for note from this other female folksinger. Ballad of Hollis Brown, Don’t Think Twice, the list goes on. But yeah, more people plagiarized his material, probably because it was so good! One of the clearest is Donovan’s “Colors” versus Dylan’s “Chimes Of Freedom.”
His harp is worn out and slightly out of tune with the guitar. And that is what makes Bob Dylan the genius he is... His voice automatically knows where it's going. Compare this to his last gig:Theme Time Radio
Cool festival, just before the hippie psychedelic era of rock festivals.... One of my favorites by Bob. Him and Joan Baez sang this tune so well together...,...
@ 3:28 he laughs and I hear the crowd laugh. Or at least one guy for sure. Anybody in here know what the giggling was about? Did he miss a chord or verse or drop his pick or something else along those lines? Anyone know?
I was there, and the memories will never fade !!!!
History in the making !!

Haha yep, one of the best intros you can think of for Bob. I always associated it to Tambourine Man, but yeah it's a classic.

Right place and right time. Good fortune fell your way that day.
Poor Pete Seeger thought he could contain this talent. A whole generation was cheering Dylan on. What a legend!

I'm inclined to believe it does, at least partially. You gotta wonder why it was never released though.

Love it. Bob was never the greatest vocalist live but his lyrics hit home.
He was always the greatest vocalist everywhere for Bob's songs and that's how it works.
not one of his best vocals I agree but plenty of examples of him performing live in stronger deeper voice
Pig - you have done more for Dylan fans than anyone - except Bob himself!
SP - im confused; is the intro to this or Tambourine?
He was singing about what most regular people say about twitch streamers simps and gamer girl subs.
