  • Tactical firings with the NLAW(Robot 57) ATGM. The Carl Gustav M3(Grg m/86) recoilless rifle is also used along with the FN MAG(Ksp 58).

    That NLAW is truly impressive! Looks kinda like a javelin with a removable FCU and BCU. I appreciate the direct attack mode, making it a multipurpose weapon.

      Anyone know the advantages of each platform? And what would best suit Canadas needs?

      what they did is not a big deal, even a kid can do it. I m 100% they knew the place they need to it and the mortars settings to hit those targets. Its much more complicated in the real combat to hit a target like that.

    This is actually a little combat arms demo showing us a "platoon" of troops organized to deal with armored vehicles and their supporting infantry. They work together to provide cover for the heavy weapons operators. Once the heavy armor munitions are expended they change jobs.

    It uses PLOS (Predicted Line-of-Sight). It combines the precision of the SACLOS guidance with the advantages of fire-and-forget.

      How does it know when to explode when in overfly top attack mode? And is that more efficient than a direct shot ?

      @@robinfrenzy It has a sensor on its underside that detects the tank and triggers the warhead. And top attack has the advantage that the roof armor on tanks is much thinner than the armor that faces direct enemy fire.

      I'm pretty sure that the Russians would be shooting back. That being said, I haven't noticed any animosity in contemporary geopolitics between Russia and the Nordic countries and they would probably seek neutrality.

    Probably a type of gated proximity fuse, like other Bofors proximity fuses.
    It doesn't start detecting until it's a few feet from the tank, and reckons the range and position of the tank from the speed of the gunner's movement while tracking the target.

    NLAW was born in Sweden, and so was Iryna grandduchess of Kyiv-Rus. Iryna/Ingegerd and her siblings grew up in Husaby, not far from NE of Skara, where Bodil in ex music group #timoteij came from in Västergötland. Bodil Bergström is a probable late descendant to Iryna. #timoteij #Ukraine

    The mortar team look´s like they are from the Danish army, the have M96/C8A2 and Elcan sigth. The uniform looks like M84 pattern.

    Does the base point of the reticle have too touch the turret of the tank for the warhead too explode above? What if he aimed the point of the reticle above the turret, having space between the reticle and the turret? Does the warhead adjust or just completely miss? A very cool weapon as why I’m asking

    look at det video "SAAB Bofors Weapon MBT LAW Anti-Tank" go to 4,30 for top armor penetration, the entry hole is the size of a coin, but it kills every thing inside the tank

      It detonates above targets almost acts like proximity detonation or is pretty much it

      Not against the trophy, but vs smoke? It shouldn’t impede it at all.
      Smoke is mostly used vs wire guided threats. Were constant line of sight to target is important.

      It penetrates with a downward facing shaped charge, The following overpressure and shrapnel kills the crew.

    Why does the tank seem to be pretty much unharmed by the NLAW? Also, how is it supposed to penetrate the armor if it only flies over and explodes, rather than aiming downwards to direct the energy into the tank?

      The warhead in the missile is pointed downwards, in overflies the tank, initiates the warhead and that penetrates the thinner top armour of most armoured vehicles, all the energy is put into damage inside the tank, killing crew members and/or igniting ammunition inside the tank, if the top of the turret is penetrated the tank is dead

    Well to my knowledge NLAW is meant to be a disposable easy to use anti tank gun and unlike javelin it isn't reloadable so there's no use to put too complicated guidance hardware on it, need be it can be fired at direct attack mode too. I would compare it to apilas or at4 with an added bonus of guidance & enclosed space capabilities. Just fills one role, armies have other weapons like eurospike for different purpouses.

      It's not just an explosion. There's a down-facing cumulative charge that penetrates the thin top armor

    The percution system inside the mortar seems to be working strangely, shells take time before exiting the gun tube.

    The FN MAG is still the best squad machine gun or 7.62 machine gun in the world.
    Except the minigun, but that's not really a squad weapon.

      The reason it didnt go up in flames is it only happens when ammo is stored inside the tank, which they dont for obvious reason in a training :-)
