Just came back after a couple of weeks to say that your video swung it for me. My Nightwalkers came today and I can’t wait to put them on my FX30. Thanks for an awesome, comprehensive video!
Kofi Yeboah, thanks for the review. As always, aerobatics. I have a dilemma - to leave my sony E 16-55 F 2.8, which has all 3 focal lengths, or to sell and buy a set from SIRUI for my FX30). What do you think about this?)
Thanks Kofi for sharing all this amazing information, really i appreciate this amazing content ❤ and inspiring me so much , would like ask you ? I read about. 7 Artisian lens , are the best for Sony fx30 ? What you think?
You have great content which has helped me up my game. As I’m now getting more into video shooting - I purchased a SIRUI 24mm. Nightwalker RF version lens for my R6. I’m getting extreme black vignetting so wondering- what settings will I need to change for this to go away?? Thanks. Still learning
Hi there. If I wanted to experiment with a manual cinema lens (a budget one), I guess a 35mm would be good focal length for my FX30. This Sirui lenses look nice for sure...are these better than the 7artisans 35mm T1.05 or the older Rokinon 35mm T1.5 DS? I don't want to spend too much money since I already own the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 and the SIgma trio 16/30/56mm f1/.4 but I would like to do some personal /low budget projects with a manual cinema lens-they look cool for sure...which one would you choose to go with my FX30 (I got the smallrig Mini matte pro...yep I'm out of control here!). Thanks for your videos!
Nice review, I appreciated your side by side comparison with 2 to 4 times more expensive lenses. It helps put things in perspective. True the 24 seems a bit off in colors. Is that avoidable when shooting a video chart each scene and each lens change?
At 9:30 and around, the caption reads SIRIU, not SIRUI😉Siriu is actually a village in Romania... Kofi, you can always count on us eagle eyed viewers 😁That's me being petty 😋Besides that, great video, AS ALWAYS!!!
Hey Kofi. I have the Sirui 35mm lens mounted on the fx 30. However, I'm seeing f-- on the display and im not completely sure why. Any advice on this? Is it because it doesn't read f stops? Im confused.
I know the focal lengths/apertures aren’t exactly the same, but how do these compare with the Sigma series of f/1.4 APS-C lenses? Would you recommend these over Sigma?
What’s holding me back is that I can get vintage lenses with similar focal lengths and similar performances (fringing, chrom. abb., and even size and weight) for a lot less than the nightwalkers. So is the ergonomics (focus rings, weight, and identical size) really worth it over a set of Canon FD lenses?
From an ergo feel, love these except the focus ring is real smooth on the 24, I only have sample copies , so if they can fix the dampening, it’s great, then again these won’t look like the FDs optically
Stupidly long comment incoming but if youre interested in some arguments read through. I apologise in advance for the lenghty comment I'm about to have them delivered in the next few days and test them out so I can only speak from a theoretical point of view. I've been working as a DP for the last 3 years and had a dedicated AC on set that rigs and pulls focus. The FD lenses are great but we often ran into issues with play in the adapter mount (yes, even on metabones regardless if it was a speedbooster or dead mount). That resulted in messed up takes and that can and will become expensive and stressful especially when there's an AD or producer breathing down our necks. The Sirui offered us native mount, fast aperture and consistency across the range in size and weight (amazing for gimbal and steadycam work). I'm aware of the chromatic aberration and we'll be working around that but for the price we can't complain. Plus the 270° focus throw is making my AC very very happy since there's less room for over turning. If you prefer the FD, by all means, I'm not bashing on them, they're amazing, but let's not forget the fact that some are stupidly expensive too and the Siruis are T1.2 including on the 24mm (and become incredible performers past T2). I may be out of touch but from what I know, theres no 24mm FD wider than f2.8 and in some cases the chromatic aberration is visible even at 5.6.
@@KofiYeboah Yeah, I alway think about that when watch your videos, but I didn't really considered it as your accent was purely American, so when I hear you say "a" minstead of "er" , I laugh 😂 and confirm "yeah he is form my mother's home"

Excellent work sir. Lovely and informative video, I love Sony cams. I’m STILL using my FS700R and F55.
glad I can help !
Great video. Gotta love when an embargo gets lifted. Lol one day I hope to be a part of a lifted embargo video drop.
It’s like watching a TV show but from different characters ahah

I haven’t tried it yet!

Well done Kofi. These lenses are decent looking. Impressed with how small they are. One question though...is it C-Ray? Soo-Ray? Suh-Ray? Siri?
Thanks man!
I heard it’s Sew-Ray
How do you handle the crop? I have the 75 and it's not cropping enough and I have black bars on the outside andit's ruining my shots

These lenses on the Sony A74 and Panasonic Gh5s would be great
I would love it if they allowed for user interchangeable mounts.
That might be above the $300 pay grade ahah
What was your favorite focal length? I'd be using it mostly with the FX30
I’d cop a 24!

It’s a all manual lenses, doesn’t have electronic contacts and all adjustments are done on the lens itself.
I know the focal lengths/apertures aren’t exactly the same, but how do these compare with the Sigma series of f/1.4 APS-C lenses? Would you recommend these over Sigma?
