Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal were absolute magic together. When Harry Met Sally...isn't just the best romantic comedy ever, it's one of the best romantic movies, period! And a wonderful movie about friendship, too!
Its a testament to Meg Ryan for having excellent onscreen chemistry with not just one but TWO actors in Billy Crystal and Tom Hanks. Her comedic timing and seemingly vulnerable persona in her characters is a talent and master skill that really made all her romantic comedies so easy and fun to watch. Her and Billy together was like watching a great symphony of witty players
@@Novalunosis90 Very true. Meg was just really great at connecting with her fellow romantic leads in her movies. French Kiss was definitely a fun movie. Great work on that one by Kevin Kline as well; he's awesome in everything he's done
A shout out for Carrie Fisher and Bruno Kirby - they were great support to the film and are missed, but to forgotten! When Harry Met Sally is just a lovely film..... at the end, when they are on the couch telling their story and smiling at each other , me and my Wife look at each other on OUR couch and smile too.... that is what it is all about isn't it? Thanks to Meg and Bill, because we fall in love with the characters as they fell in love with each other and it takes time and isn't rushed, which just makes it all worth while in the end !
Well said. I'm sick of people mocking her. She was and is so special and unique as an actress. She doesn't give a crap about being a celebrity and that makes me respect her more. Watching her films is like going home, so cozy and familiar. Meg lights up the screen and can still light up a room.
I was delighted to see that Billy Crystal was given this honor and Meg Ryan appearing on stage for him was just icing on the cake. I loved Harry Met Sally. The nominating and awards committee of Kennedy Center finally got it right in this case. I have questioned many of their selections in the past, but Billy truly deserved this honor as did Barry. Billy Crystal, as well as Harry Met Sally, are both national treasures.
Meg Ryan is loving and lovable here, and it's good to see, as showbiz hasn't always been kind to her. When Harry Met Sally is only one of many good movies she has made, and I'm grateful for her work.👏👏👏👏
When I heard that Billy was to receive this honor, one of my first thoughts was "oh I sure hope Meg is there", so imagine my delight seeing this now... "When Harry Met Sally..." is one of my favorite movies and I love them both so very much ❤
My favourite, my most prized possession is a Christmas pressie I got from my late husband (he’s been gone almost 18 years) was a bound book of the script from WHMS. It took him quite some time from beginning to end. He typed it on a Macintosh computer and printed it on a dot matrix printer. The colour of Meg’s deep green dress she wore at the end of the movie was the colour my husband chose for the binding of the book. Love that book as much as I love the movie.
“I'll have what she's having." (Older lady customer at Katz's Delicatessen. Played, famously, by Rob Reiner's mother.) Congrats Mr. Crystal on this amazing honor. Well deserved.
I keep repeat-watching this clip. I love Meg Ryan. And I love watching all of her beautiful-self standing on that stage at The Kennedy Center, receiving cheers and a standing ovation. She’s amazing, and she deserves all of that moment and more ❤
In my opinion, the two greatest romcoms are When Harry Met Sally.... and The Philadelphia Story. Decades apart, you can't beat the writing and chemistry of either one!
This is my New Year's Eve movie to watch with my wife every year since the movie has come out. It never gets old. I laugh at the same parts every time until I'm sore from laughing. Absolute perfect movie with two amazing actors (and and honorable mention to the late Carrie Fisher, who was made for her role as well).
When Billy runs on foot to the New Years eve party at the end to Frank Sinatra singing "It Had to be You" and then his little speech to Sally still gets me every time. I saw this movie at a young age and I remember thinking, so I like romantic comedies now. Still #1 in my opinion.
One of the great lines in that famous scene? "I'll have what she's having"... was delivered by Estelle Reiner, Carl Reiners' wife, Rob Reiners' mother... whom, sadly, at the age of 94, passed away at her home in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles this past Tuesday... RIP...
“I can’t pay attention to it. I just can’t,” Ryan said. “It’s not worth it. Of course that would hurt someone’s feelings, but there are so many more interesting things to think about. Meanness and hatred are just so stupid.” - Meg Ryan, addressing the speculation surrounding her looks.
This whole acknowledgement of Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal, with that whole Katz Delicatessen backdrop and such, was a creative touch. I've been at that restaurant many times as a young boy, and I've eaten Reubens or Pastramis, or even Corned Beef sandwiches with Dr. Brown's Black Cherry Sodas, along with my dad, too. The only thing I didn't realize, at my age, then, was that it was used for that iconic scene between Ryan and Crystal, and director Rob Reiner's mother, Estelle Reiner (smart choice to include her, rather than an extra). I just thought the sign, "WHERE HARRY MET SALLY, HOPE YOU HAD WHAT SHE HAD!", was just a joke or talking about a certain meal that was eaten there, by someone.
Can someone put Meg in a good role in a good movie, there are plenty of actresses who have been given more of a break lately than she has,Zellweger came back and won an Oscar.
Meg Ryan will be known MUCH longer for her personality than her still gorgeous looks. Love everything about her, except that brief stint with John Mellencamp, what was she thinking?
Lawd why Meg keeps messing with her face. Her younger self was such a pretty girl.....getting older is a gift that some people will never experience! Anyhoo it's good to her.
Really. And it's s getting worse. I just got a register letter that I'm one of next year's recipients. And all I accomplished was being the art editor in grade school.
So happy to see that Meg was included in honoring Billy! They made movie magic together.

My all time favourite movie. I fell in love with this movie when it came out and still watch it every year.
She had the best punchline of the night. Billy was proud.

She also had fantastic chemistry with Kevin Kline

Oh, Meg! It's so beautiful to see her congratulating Billy. When Harry Met Sally... is my favorite movie ever.
Me too!
Same her !!! xx
So good to see Meg again. She is still beautiful. She hit the right note with the word: chemistry. Loved her speech and her words 🌹
I agree!

She's still got character, poise and grace and so much beauty,
such beauty and of course a brand new face
your face sucks @@gerrydooley951
I'm happy for Brendan Frazier but if anyone deserves a resurgence and a comeback it's Meg Ryan.
I think she looks fantastic.

When Harry Met Sally - one of the greatest movies ever made! Billy Crystal is wonderful, wonderful.

What an amazing speech and tribute to Billy Crystal. Beautiful words from a beautiful lady.
So sweet, so good. Of course, Meg Ryan said it the best!

Meg Ryan, the Queen of Rom-Com. Julia Roberts, a close second. Two beautiful & talented actors. ❤️
What a lovely speech 👏🏽- Bravo!
Glad to see her back in the spotlight. I loved their movies.

Congrats Mr. Crystal on this amazing honor. Well deserved.
I have loved Meg my whole life... she IS America's sweetheart
I've loved her since her soap opera days❤
Your it girl! Of the mid 80's and early 90's America's sweetheart!
I keep repeat-watching this clip. I love Meg Ryan. And I love watching all of her beautiful-self standing on that stage at The Kennedy Center, receiving cheers and a standing ovation. She’s amazing, and she deserves all of that moment and more ❤
Meg looks good and gave a cute speech on Billy Crystal ✨✨
Meg looks great! Good job Meg, proud of you. She sure does deserve a chance at comeback films.

Great movie
Very touching seeing them together
Beautiful speech
Harry.... Sally! just absolute legends!
She is still charming as she was in the film. Wow.
Love and honor for Meg and Billy and everyone involved ❤️🙌🏼🙏🏼
When Harry Met Sally is one of my favourite fall/ winter movies 🥹
Love Meg! ❤She’s a beauty inside & out!
Billy you are one of the greats ❤️
Wonder how long Meg has been waiting to tell that joke😂 good one❤
Meg looks absolutely stunning! She’s so charismatic and funny.
if you love plastic fantastic, sure....
Meg, so elegant speech
Great to see Meg looking like her old self.
Thank you for this. I only wish the clip had lasted long enough to show the applause at the end and Billy's reaction at the end as well.
Once in a while the Universe takes the appearance of operating according to an order we can comprehend. Bravo, Billy, and thanks to them both.

Billy forever ❤
I love Meg Ryan’s speaking voice. She should do a Studio Ghibli movie just like Billy did.
My word, absolutely stunning,!
annnnnnd I just fell in love with Meg again. {sigh} I finally got over her and BAM! It starts all over again!
Lovely Meg Ryan. Truly best RomCom ever!

Hahaha the role of a lifetime for those guys in the back sitting in the fake Katz :D
well done meg

Queen Latifah's reaction 0:24 🤣
Um, wow !
Her dress has Sally vibes. Love.
Why? Because it’s one of the few Romantic Comedies that is actually funny. So many do the first, but not the second.
✨✨✨✨
"I'll have what she's having"
holy! Mami likes! she looks gorgepus wtf!❤😂
Meg Ryan will be known MUCH longer for her personality than her still gorgeous looks. Love everything about her, except that brief stint with John Mellencamp, what was she thinking?
I fell asleep while watching WHMS, what did I miss?
What’s with the life savers ribbons?
🤍🤍🤍
How come Robin Williams and Eddie Murphy were never honored with this but Billy Crystal and George Clooney were?
Many more Brando, gene Hackman, duvall and denzel etc.
Robin Williams was taken too soon from us. I remember exactly where I was when I heard of his passing.
Denzel, Bonnie Raitt, Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, etc. How do they pick the nominees?

Meg and Billy need to grow up. Stop behaving like children.
Billy Crystal is the best there ever was, and the best there ever will be. Oops... Sorry! I was thinking of Babe Ruth. Disregard.
Who thought Clark Kent's glasses would make the red carpet?
Lawd why Meg keeps messing with her face. Her younger self was such a pretty girl.....getting older is a gift that some people will never experience! Anyhoo it's good to her.
She's getting older, you meany. It's called wrinkles and aging.
What is Queen Latifah doing there? Give me a break.
😅
Why are these people dressed like Christmas packages ?
stop with the rainbow stuff its boring.
She had an affair with Russel Crow while being married…
Dennis Quaid cheated on Meg multiple times.
Good for Meg!
really Billy Crystal and Queen Latifa? Are we just out of people who actually deserve awards?
Really. And it's s getting worse. I just got a register letter that I'm one of next year's recipients. And all I accomplished was being the art editor in grade school.
well, congratulations in advance@@chalkbunt81
At least she appears to have stopped the lip injections and whatever else was making her unrecognizable.
Love Meg Ryan
"she appears"... She never had them to begin with. Quit reading the tabloid fodder.
Meg looks like she went into a plastic surgeons office and said "I'll have what she's having done." What a shame to ruin a pretty face.
You should educate yourself more. It's called getting older and aging.
Queen Latifa Kennedy honor? What a load of shit
Billy is the Best!
