  • In this video I discuss, in detail, my experience going off the pill. I was on Yaz for 6 years and have been off for over 3 years now. I went on Yaz as a contraceptive at the age of 21. Now, 29, I reflect back on my contraceptive pill journey and share information I wish I had had earlier. This video starts with some relevant background information and why I went off the pill. What was the final straw that led to me taking the plunge with little to no preparation? In between I detail a few things I wish I had done and things I did do that were helpful along the way, and towards the end of the video I complete these lists.
I share all the physical things I experienced that I can think of - including swollen boobs, bloating, acne, period pains and my general PMS. I then move on to the emotional things I experienced that came as a big surprise. I also share some things I did that that I think were helpful, including yoga, general health things, stress management and more. Finally I share some helpful resources (that helped me a lot), some concluding remarks and then a final physical / emotional thing I forgot to share at the beginning of the video.

I started the pill about 4-5 weeks ago & it was great till like a slap, 10 days ago i became angry depressed, sleepless nights, weird dreams (i dream maybe 1 time per year) then I started reading about the pill & was SHOCKED. I took it for acne & painful periods, and i trusted 10000% my doctor but the info online with all the death related cases, it’s insane!!!!!
Oh. The icing on the cake u GAIN WEIGHT after stopping the pill. Great!

Thanks for such an informative and inspiring video! This is such a great resource for the many ladies struggling with hormonal issues. I went through many of the same symptoms. I love how you show that our hormonal health is in our control and we don't need to suffer or take synthetic hormones just to feel normal.

Totally same experience especially when it comes to acne. I stopped using nuvaring a bit over a year ago and 6 months in the acne kicked in and is still going on heavily. Also constant bloating which is making me feel very uncomfortable. I take really good care of my health and eath a healthy diet but still. I'm watching these videos to comfort myself and give myself some hope that this will eventually get better!

Thanks for sharing your journey. I believe the more women share their stories, the better informed we will all be. The unique experiences women have with their hormonal health is a complicated topic and in need of more 'airtime' and discussion. Same for hormones and menopause! #hormonalhealth #fertility #women #menopause #thefemalejourney

I started yaz for my intense mental state during the luteal stage. After hearing this, i know im not ready to get off it because im not in a good place in my life. Having that said, ive only been on it for a bit more than a year and im 33 and first time on a birth control, so shouldnt be so bad. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Thanks for sharing. As part of your consideration - two good resources that really helped me is "How the pill changes everything" and "In the flo". Worth noting that as much as it was a wild ride coming off - it did end up being much better for my mental state to not be on the pill. I've been off for several years now and very happy with that decision. Sending you care!

How long until you actually started feeling these esffects? Was it once you were weeks, months or years off the pill? I’m about 2 weeks in. Wondering if I should go back to it or not bc I’m scared of the side effects from coming off

Did you experience any changes in your breast size after coming off the pill? As stupid as it sounds I think this is the only reason why I’m still taking the pill, because I’ve never loved my body as much as I do now. And I am really scared that once I come of the pill I’ll go back to different breast size..
