It's so important that you clarified 4.3 quarts for a refill. I have had my oil changed on my 19 Optima 2.4 nontubro at a dealership twice and both times it was way overfilled. I looked in my owners manual and it calls for 5.07 quarts. The dealerships just uses the same info that is on their computer screen which calls for the 5.07. Both times I've had to pump out the extra oil to bring it down to the correct level. The dealership couldn't have cared less when I told them about the misinformation. Of course I just do my own now that the warranty is up. Great video.

Thank you for the info. I usually do my own oil changes but beings that this is the newest car I e owned I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to run into any supplies or miss something important. However one thing I think would be beneficial is to go ahead and fill the filter with oil before you install it since it is a vertical mount. This would insure you don't have a dry start which can be pretty bad for your motor.

The 2.0l takes 4.3q the 2.4l takes 5.07q. It’s an old comment but I don’t want people underfilling their car.

@@Lil_C98 Video says 2.4 liter. Dialogue says 2.4 liter at 00:35. What am I missing? He put in 4.3 qt on a 2.4 L.

From a clearance and draining , which side is best to jack up and why?

I usually use mobil 1 oil filters and oil but switched to Kia/Hyundai brand filters since they're so cheap. They always give me a washer with it but I never use it since Mobil filters don't come with a washer. Is it even needed?

Don't forget to put the drain plug back in before you refill! 😆

I have a 2020 and the guys at auto parts gave me the gold Napa 1344 filter. Will this work ??? I couldn’t find a specific answer online for my optima

I am not sure, I would go to their website, and search on there. There should be a section to put in your make and model, and it will show filters that fit.

Does changing your own oil effect the warranty if still under warranty?

So my mom is upset because shes told her 2020 has to use synthetic and its more expensive. She doesnt think its necessary that can she can use regular oil but it is supposed to be synthetic right?

    • @SergeyPip
      @SergeyPip  2 роки тому +2

I would always recommend synthetic oil. It's not THAT much more expensive. But huge plus of synthetic oil is that it's very consistent, and provides great lubrication.
Amazon, and Costco have great prices for synthetic oils!

@@susanashcraft7067 Susan, if you are changing your oil every 3,000 miles (your mom as well), then synthetic isn’t worth the money. However, if you’re going 7,000+ between oil changes, then it’s definitely worth it. Regardless of the vehicle/engine, it’s recommended and is a superior product.

@@susanashcraft7067 if you are doing it yourself you need to look at getting the 5 quart jug of Walmart Super Tech synthetic 5w20 for $19.68. It's made in the same facility by Warren which I believe also makes Mobil1 products. Dont over pay for premium brands and change the oil at 5000 miles. The Super Tech oil filters are cheap and made well also. I spent $23 for my 5 quart jug and oil filter for my optima.
Lookup "super tech oil" on here and you'll see its just as good as any other brand.. The key isnt the brand name but the consistancy of your oil change. Hope this helps.
Edit: since you worded it as your mom was told Im assuming she takes it in to get the change? I have never done this but if she does, perhaps she could ask what the price would be if she brought her own oil and filter in to use? Im sure this would likely get shot down by a facility for "liability" reasons or some BS but honestly and i know some premium brands sell their 1 quart bottles at a premium.
I am sure the oil change places make a little extra on marking up the oil. Oil changes are pretty simple to DiY if you research it but shops are charging $60+ on the low end and with full synthetic $100+ which is unreal..
I am speaking from someone who has tools and a little mechanical inclination and I get that not everyone does but a cheap socket set, jack stands, oil catch pan and perhaps an oil filter wrench and youre good.. you can dispose used oil at any automotive store or Walmart.
There is just soo much info out here on google and youtube that you can learn from or perhaps someone you know can show.
As I think about this, I have a gf who on household repairs and projects has really been into some shit (literally on clearing a sewage line with me) and as long as she is willing I try to teach her and explain everything I do. She is keen to learn and does well on home repair/build projects but it now occurs she lacks automotive skills.. i dont have many but this now has me considering the possibilty of having her be more hands on with vehicle repairs.
She always comes out and watches and I explain what i am doing and she helps me with minimalistic chores but with her and my 6 year old son I want to teach them what I know.
As a kid in the early 90s my mom pushed me hard to learn and Id watch various men role models and offer help for whatever project and thats how i mostly learned. She told me "there isnt nothing worse than a man that is useless" This always stuck with me growing learning about becoming a man and learning respect AKA being a toxic male.
