THE TRUTH (8-8) ABOUT hair products: FORMALDEHYDE; WHY WAS IT IN THE BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT?

  • "Formaldehyde; a toxic chemical, was in the Brazilian Blowout as a preservative for the animal protein (an ingredient in the product made of bovine). Formaldehyde was used for it's inexpensive price, so was the animal protein." (Steve Miller of Gable's Cosmetics, May, 2011) Great information for cosmetologists, hairdressers, beauty school students, salon and spa professionals who like to know more about product ingredients, their prices, and reasons why they are used in products, even though they are banned in many countries for their toxicity.

Yes, you can use a shampoo with less chemicals, but it has to have some surfactants in order to clean the hair.

You are right, if it is not Sodium Laurel Sulfate, it will be Ammonium Laurel Sulfate. Shampoo is made of a surfactant and that is a fact.

Why is the industry turning a blind eye to the fact that hair is dead and cannot have Keratin put back into it. We studied this some 30 years ago. Has hair properties changed? Is hair still dead?

Oh thank you SO much for your response, I really enjoyed watching these series and have been guilty of buying things due to false advertising so really glad I stumbled upon your series of honest honest reviews, now I know it's ok to buy shampoo from either a supply store or walmart kinda thing and NOT feel like I need to spend a fortune:)

Thanks for the reply. I'm Stephen, btw. I've been licensed now for 30 years! OMG. I've had my own salon for the past 15. Prior to Hurricane Katrina I owned and operated my business in 3 different casino hotels. I would absolutely love to sit and have a cup of coffee with you, just to talk shop. I really enjoy your videos.

In my salon that is exactly what my clients get... is honesty.
Sometimes it gets me into a lot of trouble. So, can I ask another question?
I recently read somewhere that there is no such thing as a sulfate free shampoo....your thoughts on this?

It's dead, all right! All products that go into the hair are for feel and look only!

So is using an organic shampoo the way to go??:) I try to buy paraben free, I have 2 young children and TRY to use cautious and did think a lot was strictly marketing and selling and after watching these series of videos I KNOW that now.....just wondering if you recommend organic or just buying from a place like a supply store, salon or plain old finesse?
