698WHP 2015 STI Build

- We recently finished up an awesome project vehicle that visited IAG all the way from the west coast. The client was a ton of fun to work with and we had a great time building a super clean setup featuring a ton of IAG components, as well as many manufacturers that we love to work with.
The car was built with future growth in mind. The PT6870 BB T4 turbo was tuned very conservatively, leaving a ton of room for additional power down the road. Our client wanted to ensure safety on 91 octane fuel. She also wanted to maintain the “boxer rumble” through Unequal length headers. Later on, if the client decides to shoot for more power, it's an easy switch to equal-length and a few other minor changes like wastegate springs and she’s ready for another few hundred horsepower.
Notable modifications include:
Engine: IAG Stage 4 Tuff w/ Stage 4 Heads and GSC S2 Cams, IAG 14mm Head Studs, IAG Fire-Lock Head Gaskets System, ATI Damper
Fuel: Tuned on Flex fuel w/ E85 and 91 Octane (698whp tuned conservatively on E)
Fueling Mods: Aeromotive A1000 FPR, ID2000, Dual Walbro 450’s
Intake: ETS Rotated and Process West Street Manifold
Turbo: ETS Rotated kit w/ PT6870 BB T4
Intercooler: ETS FMIC w/ 4”
Exhaust: Tomei UEL Header, ETS UP w/ EWG, ETS Catless DP, HKS Legamax Premium CBE
Air Oil Separator: Iag Comp
Clutch: Comp Race twin disk
Mad props for this guy running UEL headers 🤙🏻
It’s crazy leaving those in
It would have more power with equal length headers and a faster spool then it has.
@@MrDogmash more is not always better
Depend what you gonna use car for most of the time street or track. I assume most of us will use it 99% on street so smaller turbo = less lag. Everyone automatically wants more and more power. I prefer mid range 400whp is perfect street car with minimal lag
Fck uel 😂
@@MrDogmash Omg a whole 10-15 hp! And .25 sec less spool time! Lol.. Some of use don't care and would rather it actually sound nice..
I live in Washington. If i lived in Maryland i would be making appointment to get in that legendary shop. Geez what a dream.
This is pretty much exactly what I want to do with my 2015 STi
Yes, it's exactly what everyone wants to do with their STI 😂
All a wee bit ...DOKI DOKI MORNING...than the pop pop bang bang pop hiss hiss mega pop of a ..META TARO BLURAY ....bless Jim
First few seconds of the vid, license plates are blurred; yet the dyno vid, it’s visible 🧐 but dream build 🤩
I like this type of videos.
Maybe just a little longer, add some ride and sound.
It’s so clean under the hood too. Everything is routed really well. I hope I can afford this someday. I’ll probably have to buy a fourth house and make over a million a year before my wife lets me spend this kind of money on mods lol.
WOW, that's a simple looking beast, dream machine.
This sis so goddamn clean, I love it and want mine to be like that some day.
I love it basically looks stock! Sleeper 🛌
That’s a big turbo and a low red line combo. That turbo could go to 8,500 easy. I kind of wonder what clutch they put it. And how much the valves were enlarged.
++ on the rumble. Well worth it
IAG we need you guys to start building customers cars again........pleasssse!
Just beautiful, it’s like my dream EJ. Built by one of the best builders in the game. Give me a price tag!
More than a nissan gtr for sure.
@@crimescene25 but faster to
@@chris4540 gtr is likely the most boring car ive driven lol.
Price tag for this should be around 30k usa
that bay Looks so good
Nice build man. Stsy safe out there guys.
Very clean set up and I'd love to see the load and timing tables for the turbo and 91 octane, this turbo and the power it made.
Seth Burggraf X2
Me 3.
And duty cycle. Wanna see how much more it’s got.
If it wasn't for needing 14mm head studs and head drilling, I'd have this block already.
Dont lie
@@shawnupole9316 you're gonna love E-85! I'm at 475~BHP, 399.5 AWHP, 378.1 AWTQ on the stock block with a COBB 20g +E-85 but literally everything is done outside of a built block.
You'll reliability hit 500WHP out of the 2.5Tuff + fp blue, if your trans and driveline are up to the task.
I'm personally stopping my street build at 750WHP, 700WTQ then moving on to Porsche 911
Rumble Power 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Beautiful craftsmanship.
Loved this please more videos like this! A very similar goal to a build I'm starting now! I keep seeing these ATI Dampers be included on bigger builds. How do you guys like them?
beautiful car, beautiful build.
698hp on 91? dammmnnnnnnnn 👍
Did he say he was on pump? I was wondering about too because he didn’t mention E85. If so that IS amazing.
@@nwbklr it says in the description tuned on E.
I would do the same...demand a uel header for that subie rumble💪🏾👌🏾
Definitely. I prefer the sound and more mid range power\torque. I ain't worried about a few extra hp just to sound like a typical 4 banger. A boxer with UEL sound is what makes the WRX STi unique imo
@@TTime685 I think the power gains from el headers is pretty substantial.
@@misztal2112 It's not
It’s not. Slightly higher peak hp. Besides, the UEL header has its pros somewhere else in the curve. And it’s more desirable for boost pressure delivery imo. Either way the sound makes it all worth it no matter what the insignificant peak power is. You can look up the two head 2 head on a stock ej btw. Lots of guys have posted their results over the years.
@@nwbklr at stock hp levels maybe uel headers don't affect hp but I think at really high hp I think it becomes a limiting factor. Look at the speed academy abandoned sti video series.
Amazing numbers on just 91 wooow
We truly live in the age of the gear head when with a click of a mouse you can order all the parts you need to have a reliable 600hp.
Dont you need a whole new block once you go big turbo on subarus?
THE GOAT Why would you need a “new” block when you already have one? It’s about how much much boost pressure not the size of the turbo necessarily. Even on a stock EJ technically a larger turbo would be better for reliability at the same boost level.
@@nwbklr ahh yes. Spend thousands on everything besides besides the engine. The stock ej257 can take around 350whp some people push them further but at that point its just a waiting game. Built internals with stock block can go upto around 500. This number varies but 500 is about the limit you wouldn't to go without closed deck. With closed deck the sky's pretty much the limit.
@natesmith9007 I'm pushing 415whp to the stock block and is fine.
nice. gl with those smog inspections in CA :P
There are lots of zip codes in many Ca counties that don't require smog checks unless transfer of ownership.
If you’re gonna spend that level of money why not go with a ETS EL/twin scroll setup and gain much quicker spool/response with significantly higher peak numbers?
Clean looking Subie!!
ULTIMATE FUCKING SLEEPER
How did they get 2000cc injectors to play nice with 91 octane?
STi goals
Man I would think the customer would have to go with equal length headers with that amount of horsepower I mean wouldn't the car breathe better with equal length headers
There is a lot of misinformation about Subaru engines and the header you should use. Each one has its pros and cons. Aside from the sound I prefer the ULH because of the boost delivery it provides and where in the rpm range you get your peak torque.
equal length all day.
I just wanna send my car to you guys and get her built 😅
Such a awesome build. I have a 2011 wrx and bought process west manifold . Was wondering on some insight on the vacuum fittings and lines??
#LooksCleanSoundsMean Badass build folks!
Amada press brake 👏
Tuners like Ron at Phatbotti talk a lot about putting a box around the intake filter, as it makes quite a difference in IATs. I'm wondering if you agree with that, or what the methodology was with not having a box or going cold air through the headlight or some such thing.
Space limitations i think is why they didnt develop a box plus they recommend their 4" intercooler at that power level
Pinay May ari hahaha congratulations
So, they must focus too much on the tuning the car and have no time to check this video before upload it?
Wow beautiful 🤓
I wonder what something like that would set a brother back
I'm wondering the same thing lol
Ok that is a great set up , how much would this build cost for a 2021 wrx sti please?
I’m drooling over here👍 anyone know roughly how much a build like this costs?
juSTIn Turner man I’m gonna take a guess at $40k for parts plus labor
Around 30k minimum for this setup.
I already spent 13k, I don't have much left on it.
What throttle did you use? Dbw? And if so what brand? Cheers.. Wicked build!!
Review on the out front motors sport block I got the v4 with pinned mains manley I beam rods I sent to them an je pistions an upgrade wrist pins
What?
sean kelly what you mean what is out front motor sport legit or not that’s my build
Does this fit 2004 subaru impreza outback sport 2.5l
Love the vid but slow down the description text. Barely have enough time to read.
For real, I had to pause and rewind. Lol

How many pounds of boost?
Not bad for 91. Any idea how much on ethanol?
I would love to have a build like that as a currently own a 2018 STI unfortunately I live in CA and that kind of modification would not pass visual etc :(
there are many ZIP codes in several counties in California that do not require smog inspections unless it is a transfer of ownership.
You gotta move bro
Where does the coolant expansion tank get relocated to??
Hello..Can I apply this project to my STI 2019 ... despite the very hot weather in my country with the daily use of the car ... I saw a lot of my Subaru friends whose engines were broken due to a simple modification and high air temperature we have with the seasons of the year
Dont worry about simple mods, you have a 19' sti, strengthened EJ.
25.581,99 labor cost not included.
How much boost is runing ?
What is the best turbo to put down 550hp in WRX STI
wonder how many miles he will get out of it
Wow that's an amazing job where you guys located
Maryland
which compress cover? ported S or big H?
Is this a 2.7l now or 2.9 instead of a 2.5? , absolute beast!!
No, just 2.5 with closed deck, forged internals, built heads, and a huge rotated turbo setup.
698 on pump gas????.... read the description... that’s on e. Still very respectable... wonder what the pump gas numbers are
Probably 550whp do to UEL headers they definitely didn't push the old girl to to hard!
None the less 700 is very insane and is a bloody fast street car.
UEL for the Win!!
EL ain't bad with a built motor
EL/twin scroll would have made more power and spooled much quicker....
So doesn't have tgv deletes?? Interesting build.
You can literally see the tgv deletes lol
Dude I can see the plate in the thumbnail
Who gives af this shits dope
Sooo cleaaan 🤩
insane! what is limiting whp of stage 4 tuff motor🤨
The tune
What would something like that cost?? I mean for everything out the door ??
for a complete setup making that kind of power , around 25-30k just in parts
Whats the difference from a front facing to rear facing manifold?
The only real difference is you would need less IC piping on the reverse manifold, performance wise they both are the same.
@@SiCaRiI_DaGgEr gotcha feel like the front facing makes everything look and flow better
@@Yojujux
I agree 100% , I prefer the forward facing (reverse) setup as well, it looks much cleaner, however the costs are substantial i.e. if you go with the Process West reverse manifold you would need to add the IAG throttle body adapter and/or have custom piping fabbed up if you go with a rotated setup, same if you go with the AMS manifold as well.
Where can I find that air intake
6870 sp or hp cover? and what ar tks
How much would a build like this cost ?
t4 what housing 6870?
I wander what the build cost was?
Generally 40k
what's the most power you could make on 91?
This is about the power you would see on a max application 91 octane Subaru set up. The 6870 is pretty big which is needed due to the lack of timing you can safely run. I have a very similar setup and I am making 844 awhp on e85 and the timing is still conservative so making anywhere near 700 on 91 is incredible.
Seth Burggraf I second that. It IS pretty impressive.
No dyno graph, with UEL’s and a turbo that size I bet it’s super laggy....
@@bindabbin6067 what set up are you running?
@@1kDomo I had a Magnum firelock block same heads same build, I had a vband setup, more fuel pump and e85. Talk to a reputable subaru shop that tunes and builds them, not people on UA-cam. I'd talk all day about it with ya but I don't get paid the big bucks.
What UEL headers were used???
Tomei UEL Header
I just wish I knew the song😢
How many psi?
Real question: *Price* ?
samuraimonkey thats what I want to know too
@@FPSOrangeTV gotta be ballpark like 30+ thousand USD extra on top of a $30,000 car with labor.
like used gtr money lol
@@crimescene25 definitely better than a used gtr though. Faster and cooler and makes better noises lol
@@chris4540 friend is a franchise owner of twisters in colorado drove his gtr and it was suuuper boring. It does everything for you and i prefer my 2017 wrx sti any day.
How much for this set up? What’s the total price for everything?
I would say 30-35k
How much was the cost of parts and build? I want it!
I would say 30k usa
How much would a build like this from you guys cost?
30-50 thousand
Subaru haters have left the chat.
I wonder how much all of this cost
Alex & Ben a fortune
A million dollars later....
70k max.
what transmission and clutch is it using?
Sti transmission should be good to 700whp
@nonofyourbusinessnonofyour5435 the stock transmission will hold 1000hp
The transmission will hold 1000hp
So how much for a build like this exactly I'm very interested
lol they won't tell you that. Call them to get your build price
In house, those parts you're looking $35k+ all day long. It's called the dreamers package.

Don’t even bother asking. You’ll get a non answer, answer. Lol
All you people making smog check comments in California...
There are many zip codes in many counties that do not require a smog check at all unless it's a title transfer.
Never have done a smog check on many of my performance cars in 30 years here in Ca. Just find someone you know in a no smog check required zip code and register the car there.
needs some wider wheels and more rubber lol
how much ?
If you gotta ask...
@@nwbklr yea i kno its not for me
Instant smog fail in California
One of the many reasons not to live there....
Uel, Legamax & 91 octane? Yikes.
Can't understand?
Cylinder 4 at those power levels is just dangerous with a UEL.
91 octane is from what I understand knock prone as well.
Lastly the Hks system is great, but From my understanding it tapers down to a 2.5-inch flange at the connection between downpipe and catback creating unsafe back pressure at those power levels.
Love the build and surprised it’s making that much power. Always wanted UEL and a “quieter” exhaust with big power until I dug a bit further in.
@@Afrikantk lol.. You're just another to fall for the snake oil.
I guess these guys just have no clue what they're doing .. 🤦 Do you really think they're running 2.5 piping on a 700hp build?
I'd trust that iag knows what they're doing.
If you ever meet a Subaru engine builder that tells you, “His engine popped because of his UEL header.”, I’ll eat my shoe. Too many peanut gallery forum bros goin on and on about what causes ringland failure. Yes cylinder temps can be slightly higher because of it but they’re not significant and are NOT the cause of any engine damage. If you have an EJ that pops, it was ALWAYS gonna pop. No AOS, EL header or tune is going to save you from ringland failure. It’s nonsense. It’s even less significant in this case as the gentleman is lucky enough to own a closed deck block with forged internals. It can handle those temps and a hell of a lot higher.
Too bad you live in Cali like me. Going to suck when smog time comes. Main reason I won’t mod my car. This place is crap.
698 hp on 91 octane 😂
$$$$$
Please build my 2016 lol
Yikes all that money spent and dude went with UEL headers.. that’s a big no from me dawg
Yup
For what, 10-15 extra horses and no mid range power? Lol.. Just to sound like a typical raspy 4 banger. EL headers aren't all the hype. If the car is built and tuned right, which obviously this one is, it'll run just fine with UEL, have torquey mid range, plus sound like a beast.
TTime685 Oof. Another subie rumble fan boy.
@@JB-pk1jx Another ignant that falls for the EL snake oil 😆
TTime685 There’s a sucker born every minute. You can’t teach stupid
this guys spends $20,000+ on a build and runs unequal length headers...smh
And? Let me guess.. you think it can make 100 extra hp with EL? Lol.. Or cylinder 4 is gonna burn up? 😄
@@TTime685 it'll definitely make more top end power, and will definitely equalize cylinder temperatures. As for 100hp, probably not, but I wouldn't be surprised to see 30-40. you'll also see increases in torque and decreases in spool time
@@diegerr0 Snake oil.
No. Maybe 15-20 max. And actually the spool time is increased, not decreased.. Lol. The uneven exhaust pluse actually extracts a higher volume of air at lower rpm so it's able to spool quicker, hence where the mid range power comes into play.
Also, the difference in cylinder temps is negligible with a good tune and a quality aftermarket UEL header
TTime685 yeah you are grade A+++++ example of someone who has no idea what they’re talking about
