Sorry… but the Broncos gained absolutely nothing from “trolling” the Vikings into trading up one spot. I feel Payton wanted McCarthy, and made an offer. The Vikings best that offer, and then Payton is left with - for him - an acceptable alternative in Nix. He shared his trolling story to save hurting Nix’s ego.

Great point of Great Tier, Good Tier, Maybe Tier. Draft charts are simply historical guidelines. If you think the player is a game-changer you move up and grab him. A+ getting McCarthy plus Turner and keeping next year's first round pick.

I view Turner as an edge-setting specialist. He's a good pass rusher, but an excellent run defender. If he continues to improve his pass rush skill set, he's going to be a monster.

I think the Falcons might view Michael Penix Jr as a potential top 3 QB 5 years from now worth about 70M/per year at that time.

Falcons taking Penix was odd but it didn’t surprise me on principle that an unexpected team took a QB, watching how hard it has become to draft up for a QB when you NEED one. You have to plan ahead.

I like Turner, and if he was the #1 defensive player on the Vikings' board and no one was close, THEN, they did the right thing. Personally, I would have stood pat and taken BPA. As it turns out, they could have selected DT Jer'Zahn Newton or CB Terrion Arnold at 23 and saved all those picks they lost in the Dallas Turner trade.

To me those are good not great prospects. Turner miles ahead of them.

The difference between JJM and DM is less or more J. Jefferson and more or less wins for the Vikings! Vikings should be grateful the fate let Vikings chose more wins!

QBs who rifle all passes do that because the QB doesn't read defenses quickly and know where the open space is. Slow progressions & poor anticipation leaves QBs late so they rifle the ball late as DB is closing in. The KOC system is not a good fit tor that type of QB. Jefferson fearlessly goes for every catch because he knew Kirk could protect him by leading Jefferson into open space. McCarthy must improves in this area. McCarthy will struggle early to handle a pass first offense. He has never been asked to throw 35 times a game.. Vikings can't change the system because their Offensive line is built to pass protect. So Vikings will not go Michigan Ground & Pound. McCarthy will struggle when he gets his chance. I do believe McCarthy will work hard and improve. We have no idea of the timeline.

That's exactly what I said before he was picked. The funny thing is people love him because he was a winner. No Harbaugh put that winning running team together. Vikings are absolutely going to ask McCarthy to pass first run later. That's going to be a problem but what else were the vikings going to do? It was McCarthy and Nix left. I believe McCarthy might be better than Nix, but that will get answered in the coming years.

Until they figure out how Kwesi was able to land those two players starting with 11 and 23. It will be like, The NFL Graders are playing Checker while Kwesi is playing Chest. They look at picks as value. Kwesi looks at them like stocks. 😎Most gave us B and C because they were confused. But when you listen to them, they are wondering how Kwesi did that more than why he did it.🤔 He uses mid/ late round picks to maximize his early picks. Then he gets a few mid round players in UDFA. 😎 Mr. WallStreet. Skol.

Q and O’Connell will be judged by this. Seems like a project to me. What do I know? I, for the record, say it is sadly, a poor choice, that will set us back for years. The nice thing is, if he fails, we can get a 6th round pick back, like other teams have on all of their top 10 picks.

At least we didn't give up 3 picks for a bust. These guys are spot on about it not working. With nothing to look at and asking a guy to make 1 or 2 great throws a game In college then say hey, you need to make 25 or more awesome throws a game is a huge ask. I'm on the fence and am actually hoping Darnold turns into a diamond in the rough. One can always hope I guess. I do love the Turner pick though and think he will get at least 9 sacks in 2024 if he stays healthy. I don't see McCarthy playing for a year maybe two.

Trapaso had Turner the 3rd Edge in the Draft. Latu understandable, but less desirable than Turner due to the neck concern. Who in hell would he have ahead of Turner besides Latu? Chop over Turner??? No way.

Matthew, you sound like me breaking down McCarthy. I said the same thing. Throwing 8 to 10 times a game in college isn't the same as throwing 40 times in the NFL. Also Throwing 63 mph isn't always the greatest thing to do because if it's not right on, it's probably not going to get caught. Also, Michigan was an awesome running team. Vikings are not so much even with the 30 year old Aaron Jones who could very well fall off the cliff like Cook did. The Vikings were pretty much forced to get McCarthy because Nix was all that was left besides him. Only time will tell if Nix or McCarthy will be better. Sean Payron knows how to get the best out of Nix as he did with Drew Breeze. It's going to be an interesting next year or two with this qb class.. Who knows Darnold might just surprise everyone with the weapons he has now as well as decent coa hing, which he had none of since being drafted.

jj dropped because even though he was the vikings choice after Maye, they had him and Pennix neck and neck and they were willing to take Pennix if McCarthy wasn't there. Once the Falcons took Pennix it forced the Vikings hand to make the trade up to 10.

I like Turner but the overall trade value given up was way past what should have been given up. Some 4th and 5th round picks turn into productive players, taking more shots is always better when drafting.

    • @iggexec

@@iggexec Kwesi's approach to trading is undisciplined in all of his trades going back to 2022 he has given up a total value equivalent to the 37th pick in the draft. Trade after trade moving up or down he loses value. By the way the Vikings in 2009 were the best team in football and were cheated by the referees making three terrible calls that gave New Orleans the NFC Championship. There are 31 GM's in the league that get equal of more value out of their trades, Kwesi doesn't care which in the end hurts the fans in the end.
