  • This video is designed for ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS. If you have NEVER serviced your own car, this will give you the knowledge to do so safely.
    We will look at; Oil and filter change, pollen filter change, air filter change, and gapping and swapping spark plugs.
    You'll need some basic tools;
    Trolley jack - low entry is best
    Axle Stands
    19mm spanner or socket with wrench
    Oil filter removal tool - you can buy it here --- www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B010Q63RG...
    T25 driver
    Phillips screw driver
    5mm hex driver
    3/8 drive 10/16mm spark plug removal tool
    3/8 ratchet
    3/8 extension bar
    10mm socket
    rags/tissues
    oil catch tray
    Please watch the video in its entirety before commencing with the job, especially if it is your first time working on your own car. Make sure the vehicle is stable once its jacked up. Dispose of the oil oil and filter responsibly, the other bits can go in the normal waste.
    Stay safe, but if you're still not happy to try it yourself, see below to book me in to do it for you.
    ***For booking enquiries email bookings@bwstt.co.uk
    ***If this video has saved you a trip to your local garage, and you'd like to buy me a drink to say thankyou, then feel free to send me a donation to paypal.me/bwstt225?locale.x=e...

    Nice video mate. Very clear and a great guide for people wanting to give it a go. With the Audi TT getting to "that" age, it is a great car for trying your hand at these things. I am working my way through the various jobs on mine at the moment and documenting them on here to help others. It is surprising the number of jobs that need doing once you start! Looking to take my dash out and send it off for an LCD screen next I think. Keep up the great content!

    I use Liquimoly 5w40. Not the top fancy ones either. Top Tec 4100 5W-40 or Leichtlauf HC7 5W-40
    I believe changing it regularly in short intervals like every 3000km with cheaper(BUT still quality!) oil is much better than long intervals on the most expensive ones. It's the ingredients that give them so called longevity that make them expensive mainly anyway.
    Getting rid of burnt stuff and particles as soon as you can is the best.

      Proven to increase flow. Theres a short answer and a long answer, the long answer i may do a dedicated video, but the short answer is that the increased flow is measurable, and puts less stress on the turbo, and gives slightly more power. Think about trying to drink a glass of water with a small straw. You can do it no problem. Then think about using a bigger straw- you find it even easier and quicker to drink the same volume of water

      Hi Rui, really interesting. I also remapped my apx 225 TT and having the same issue. Having some knock although I use 98 ron petrol ; did not know that changing plugs may reduce knock. I installed pfr6q plugs as they were the recomended ones. But next time will try the other ones you suggest and Bryan aprobed. The gap must be exactly 0,7? Hope to reduce knock little bit .Thanks for your comment.

    • @ruialmeida5217
      @ruialmeida5217 3 роки тому +1

      Mine is apx too. I use only 98. My ecu tuner changed the map a little bit to reduce the knock while using the oem spark plugs. For what I googled in general in a mapped 1.8T they use bkr7e with 0.7mm gap (copper spark plugs normal ones).I will change to bkr7e and after that I will tune a little bit more and see if the engine run well. the bkr7e its a step cooler than the pfr6q. dont forget the 0.7mm gap.

    • @topmendia
      @topmendia 3 роки тому +1

      Rui Almeida ,thanks you for the information. I should change them and see if I reduce knock.
      How is the IDC (injection duty clycle) in your tt? I made several logs using me7logger and in my apx idc reaches 91-92% at hight rpm. Injectors are almost in the limit. Would be great to know if in your apx is similar. I changed fuel pump and installed oversized dw65 fuel pump but sill have those high values 🤔; maybe it is because apx does not have egt sensor and because of that goes rich at high rpm.

    • @ruialmeida5217
      @ruialmeida5217 3 роки тому +1

      @@topmendia I dont know that kind of information because i have very low knowledge about ecu tune. But, i think its not bad if it runs rich at high rpm, otherwise, it will be bad if the engine runs lean and cause temps rise in the chamber. Rich mixture its safer than lean, and maximum power its achieved around 12 and 13 afr. Maybe try speaking with other tuners to see what kind of numbers they have.
