    I'm glad to see someone new who is tackling an Mk1/8N 1.8L 225bhp TT. These cars are totally awesome when they're right but they definitely suck to work on because of the traverse engine. I've done a lot to my 2001 so if somebody's got questions, hit me up.

      Geoff Lockley Thanks for the comment Geoff! You’re right they really are great cars, just a pain to work on. Unfortunately they are getting to that age where they need quite a bit of maintenance so as long as you can over come that it’s perfect. Appreciate the tech help for others

    I can tell you a few stories about my car. Ive done all the things you have. Ended up at 300bhp but head gasket gone now so going too full rebuild at 500bhp. Top power tip is get a Relentless manifold and down pipe and unleash the beast with a tune. Incredibly fast once all the mods are done.

      @TheParrottBros  4 роки тому +1

      That’s going to be a serious monster when done, what turbo are you going to run when done? I’m trying to keep it reasonable price wise at the moment as there is so many things that need doing on the car, when the engine or turbo goes then I’ll take it off the road and go to town on it 😂. Thanks for watching

      @@TheParrottBros Im not sure yet how to stage the build. I know it needs a head gasket and will need forged rods to get more power so while thats being done its probably sensible to get better valves head flowed and maybe fast road cams. Still looking into it at the moment but strengthening will be first followed by the turbo. Im not sure a hybrid will give me the power i want but ill let you know.

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  4 роки тому +3

      MRPK1967 for sub 400bhp you need forge rods and valve springs, the rods allow more torque as the stock ones you are limited to 300ftlbs ish. Turbo wise a hybrid allows better air flow but can run hotter. Luckily as a few people have already done the big power 1.8ts there is plenty of info. Have a look at nicks a3 that’s some 550bhp. Specially if you’ve got plenty of open road at your disposal. They truly are lovely cars to drive and I think that’s what draws people into ownership. That most likely means it's a vacuum or pressure leak in the system because the ECM doesn't read it . I recommend performing a pressure test with smoke. I have a 2001 TT 225bhp with an AMU engine that I have built almost entirely from scratch and this is a common problem to sort out. I have over $1600.00 american dollars tied up in FORGE hoses, FORGE Waste Gate Valve, FORGE 008 Divertor Valve, and much, much more but I still have the same problem you're struggling with. An Audi TT Mk1 225bhp is not an automotive project for amateurs because it requires a lot of time, research, tools, strong thin hands, flexible body, skinny arms, and a lot of disposable money to eliminate all fault codes (if you haven't figured that out already). I have been working on my project for over 15 months and I'm still not done with all the niggly bits that drive you nuts! Never give up and you'll get it!

  • @MacGyver-1
    @MacGyver-1 2 роки тому

    The main problem with the cone filter is the intake air temps, hotter air is less dense and doesn't allow this upgrade to fully benefit, the stock filter housing pulls air from the inner fender which is cold air not from inside the engine bay which has been heated by the radiator, engine, air-conditioning condenser and so on

    • @doobersigaming9312
      @doobersigaming9312 Рік тому

      I agree, I had many Vtecs and a cold air intake was worth it ie went from the throttle body to lower front bumper but on the TT I’ve simply updated the panel filter. Unless you fabricated a cold air intake pipe into the inner wing not sure either.

    Hey man so I’ve been looking for a turbo inlet pipe for my mk1 tt 225 but I’m in the USA and I haven’t been able to find one that fits for some reason. I’ve looked on a few sites and a lot of them tell me that the inlet pipe they sell only fits up to the 2002 models and I’m a bit lost on where to find one now for my car. And I’m not sure if the ones in the UK would fit. Any suggestions on where to look or which ones would fit? Thanks for taking the time to read this

      Ricky Gomez hey buddy, so I had this exact chat with Badger 5 the other day who makes the oversized turbo intake pipes. He said that it will fit but you may need to trim the bit that goes on to the turbo down so it’s the width of the clip and nothing else. If you give bill a message he will be happy to talk to
      You and he will post to USA. You want to look at the v3 option. Hope this helps. Any other issues give me a shout. badger5.co.uk/induction/v3-tip-red_esp-0097/5

    I have a Seat Leon 1M -01 20vt4 (180hp, but stage 1 at 215hp) that i'm about to fit a Creation Motorsport oversized tip onto that allows for the bigger 225hp MAF and bigger BSR airfilter, hoping for some more gains since the small JR filter i use now might restrict the airflow more than the original boxed-up filter did. I don't know how much differs between the 180hp engines to the 225hp ones, but they say that there is a coolant pipe running close to the inlet of the turbo that might need to be deformed or slightly moved to fit an oversized tip, did you have to do this? I got the oversized tip for about 80£ (new in packaging but never used) and MAF + BSR filter with heatshield for 25£ (Used).

      The other things to consider is will you need to change the maf sensor inside the housing to the 70mm one as will throw your Ecu out. If you have a k03s turbo the inlet size may be different and the k04 225 Tip won’t fit and will

Thanks for the heads up, I've already made sure that I bought the correct oversized tip. Quite a few people fit the oversized tip's to a stock air box and it will still increase the amount of airflow to the engine over the stock pipe, the only downside with the stock airbox is you are limited to the spout in the wings diameter for airflow. Not horrendous on stock however when tuning is something most tunes would recommend changing out. You may lose some of the added bonus of the larger tip however still an upgrade

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  4 роки тому +1

      Yes is the short answer, I put the tip and cone filter on at the same time and instantly noticed it’s more responsive and feels stronger on boost like it’s getting more air. Here is what I found on line which explains why ( its been dyno proven many times in 1.8t platform as well :) ) Increasing the pipe diameter causes the pressure and velocity of the gas to decrease. ... Changes to engine geometry and specifications can produce better torque, power, volumetric efficiency and more. The technique known as wave tuning can lead to better engine torque and power.

My plan is to get done a clever stage 1, get a SFS Supersized TIP (70mm) the Forge 008 DV and replace the stock and tired N75 for a new N75J from Audi, what do you think of this setup. Next year I would do the 3" downpipe and some other mods for a stage 2 remap. I am not really sure about the TIP size, according to the website the A15H/A for my engine code is 70mm, I guess 80mm wouldnt fit? What size is the Forge TIP I cant find info about it? It was my other candidate but people say SFS is way better than Forge.

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  3 роки тому +1

      So there’s quite a few things to consider with this, the AUQ I believe is a 180 hp, if this is the case you run a K03 style turbo which has a small inlet than a 225 k04 would so they are different. You will have a 70mm mass air flow sensor, the 225 has a 80mm.
      There is a few options for tuning, you can get a hybrid turbo, or you can do a k04 conversion if you can get all the bits you need from a breaker and just fit a front mount intercooler. Prob work out cheaper.
      If you want to keep it simple, go for a oversized tip, ( Sfs or badger 5 as proven best gains) fmic & downpipe. This will give you the best flow and there for greater gains for less spend.
      After this you start spending a pretty penny, also speak to a tuning company before committing to purchasing too much as they may advise you.

      Nick Bogdanos should just fit straight on, no need to fit anything between maf and filter

      Nick Bogdanos is your car stock or mapped?

    Does nothing for a 3.2 sadly

      All the 3.2 needs is a nice exhaust 😎

      @@TheParrottBros and my timing chain, sprocket, DSG clutch pack, flywheel and all the other Gubbins to keep a 3.2 on the road! My red oil pressure warning came on today then went away suddenly, seems its the pressure switch having a possible earth issue or intermittent issues. Would have to happen when I'm 200 miles from home... I did an oil flush and full change before leaving to try and help resolve a possible p0018 issue with very gunked up camshaft sensors and I could possible have crap in the pickup pipe. I stopped and topped up the oil as it seemed low and the issue went away, drove for an hour and it was fine. Hopefully I can get the sump off, cleaned and pipe / sensor done. The TT meet in Challock in July is right at my neck of the woods.... if I still have a working one by then!
