    Good on you for doing everything in the right order. Get the fence, trees removed, concrete put in THEN do the lawn. Ive seen so many people jump the gun and do the lawn first then have to redo it every time a new project is complete

    I used United Seeds Titanium GLS on my reno in Oct. and have been very pleased with the resukts. People are always asking me what kind of grass is it and someone thought it was turf and came and pulled out some blades to see.

    I would make a beautiful planting box the same length as the porch thats about 2-feet high so the flowers or whatever you plant can somewhat obscure the porch and give you some privacy and make you not have to bend over to care for the plants😊

    3:23 I had a Sycamore tree in my front yard, the roots were everywhere, they criss crossed like a weave and broke all of my sprinklers, ups could not even dig them up because of the roots. I rented a grinder on tracks and spent two full days grinding everything out, 2 years later my wife says pull up that weed, so I put the shovel in and I found a root the size of a mans torso, how I missed that I do not know, small Ca yard, Good luck with the roots they can be daunting.

    For the shrub, the Plant Yesterday , Today and Tomorrow, it is drought tolerant, it can take high temps, forget to water and almost dying, give it some water and boom, full sun, grows very slowly, easy to maintain, bicolor flower.

    Hi there! I enjoy your videos. We are getting ready to install a lawn. Right now, we have levelled original soil. We plan on bringing in 4" - 6" of new soil. My questions are, can we simply spread the new soil over old and plant seed (because grass grows within 4" - 6" of soil) or best to rototill new soil into old? Also, if we don't need to rototill, how do we get rid of weeds before we add new soil?

    • @TheLawngineer
      @TheLawngineer  6 місяців тому

      Been trying to answer this on another video, but the comment keeps disappearing for some odd reason. I prefer to get rid of the grass/weeds first… but with 4 to 6 inches of new soil, you might not need to. Just make sure you roll the soil to compact it a bit. That will prevent things from settling.

      @@TheLawngineer Thanks! I was concerned that layering new soil on top of old soil without some blending or tilling was going to be bad for grass growth. Not the case?

    This is unrelated to anything in the video and it isn’t meant to be an insult, just a funny observation, but I’ve never heard someone simultaneously have an accent that sounds like they’re from Massachusetts, North Dakota, and Utah at the same time.

    Use pinestraw instead of the black mulch. Looks better and won't have to replace each year. Just throw more down in the spring as the straw will break down by itself.

    Great informative video. I just put seed down a few days ago. When should I put my first fertilizer?

    • @TheLawngineer
      @TheLawngineer  Рік тому

      I do it the same day as seeding… just so I limit walking on the new grass later on. But if you haven’t fertilized yet, I would say wait until the 1st couple of mows, then throw down.

    • @matthewvanselow1979
      @matthewvanselow1979 Місяць тому +1

      If you are seeding a new lawn (or a large area) it’s best to put down the starter fertilizer at the time of seeding. However, if you are overseeding it’s best to wait a few days after putting the seed down, so the rapid growth period on the existing grass will be slowed enough to give those new seeds enough time to germinate without being shaded out.

    hey do you remember. i was asking you questions about the PB 9010 2 months ago do you think i should get a smaller backpack blower because my family says i dont need to 9010 and its to heavy for me. do you think i should get the 580t or 755 770t or spend more money and get 2 the power.

    • @TheLawngineer
      @TheLawngineer  2 роки тому +1

      What kind of work are you gonna use it for? If you are doing a lot of heavy leaf cleanup work… then the 9010 is going to be most effective. If it’s just blowing grass clippings and working around beds, the 580 is perfect. The 700 series is kind of middle of the road.
