    They should install the destination signs and announcements on the older cars

    Haha it’s less “smelly” now but give it a few weeks. Trains will look like the old ones again

    I moved to the Reno area from Stockton and a few months ago I saw a truck with one of these cars on the back, now I know why!

    It's June 2018 now and I haven't seen one single new BART car like the ones shown here... What's up with the delay? Oh yeah - it's BART.

    Hows about we worry more about stopping the violence than sprucing up the cars?

      That's quite a jump from new vehicles to a worldwide issue.

      Commit Die cars = train cars. Violence = violence on bart.

    Waste of money, unless they can kick out all the old bart trains & homeless problem it will make Bay Area great.

      That won't happen

      It's not. The BART fleet is so old that it costs more to continue maintaining it than to get new rolling stock. Despite its new and growing safety and cleanliness issues, BART is still the backbone of our transportation system. As you can see now, the Bay Bridge only carries a small fraction of the people who commute to work. BART carries five times more and is increasing capacity by 30% in the next couple of years. Without BART we would be drowning 24/7 traffic.
      The system needs to be fixed! We need to put pressure on the BART board to secure the system and clean it up. They need to put a cop at every station and a fare inspector on every train if that's what's needed. But they must fix it. It is not an option for us to go without BART. It's just not physically possible for everyone to get around by car in a dense metro area.

    Fewer seats!! What a great idea! Why not take out all the seats?? smh

    • @JoseOlalde
      @JoseOlalde 4 роки тому +1

      Because some people want to sit down, And Less seats mean more Capacity.

      Jose Olalde That’s not what we were promised when BART was being planned, “Jose”.

      Because BART is really a two-mode system. It sees crush loads during the commute period and only a tiny fraction of that ridership for most of the rest of the day. This type of seating arrangement ensures that there is plenty of space during the commute hours and also that there is plenty of seating capacity for the non-commute periods. It's literally the best possible seating arrangement for a commuter-dependent system like BART!
      That being said, BART is slowly abandoning its commuter rail roots in favor of becoming a true subway, at least inside the core of the system. They are increasing throughput by 30% in the urban core of the system with shorter headways and larger trains, in addition to the new seating arrangement and three-door cars. This means that BART will feel more like a normal subway in SF and Oakland/Berkeley. You'll be able to just walk up and board rather than waiting for 20 minutes for a train. This is a big deal for BART and will make it a lot more useful for the entire region.
      BART already normally transports five times more people than the Bay Bridge over that segment during rush hour. You can expect to see that grow to 7 or 8 times more people when Covid subsides. BART is growing up to become a real subway!
