    Why doesn't the MFT include a replacable "sacrifice" strip of timber where the track saw bites into the table top? Lots of people make this modification - so why not supply it built in?

    Very instructive video. I like especially "stops" on the plastic lip (not cutting all the way on the rail) and the 90 degree calibration. What could also be done is to calibrate (0 setting) the fence towards two bench dogs. Then you measure and adjust the rail to be 90 degrees to the fence. This way, you rail will be calibrated to the holes and you could use bench dogs (when needed) instead of the fence.

    All hail Sedge! Keep up the good work buddy. Any company would be ecstatic to have upbeat positivity he shows for the whole Festool line.
    Heck Sedge showing me the Domino demo in Vegas and saying it was "wicked awesome" was enough to get me to buy it :D

  • @eagleonone

    Bought the MFT/3 specifically for the protractor head and fence. When properly calibrated it allows predictable and repeatable cuts both 90 degrees as well as any angle required. It also makes beveling the full length of a table leg much more precise than the table saw jig I used previously.
    ------ for those who watch or rewatch the live event(s) on Utube it would be nice for the camera to record from the same angle as the live camera rather than off to the side.

    Sorry. I bought the complete MFT/3 table with the protractor and crosscut track setup. I found it so fiddley and impossible to keep true (just bumping the rail can easily throw the thing out of square) that after 6 months of never being able to trust my cuts I got rid of it and now rely on rail dogs and an aftermarket crosscut rail attachment. They work great and I built a kitchen full of cabinets with the square-cut precision of a cabinet saw. cheers. I do appreciate your videos. Thanks.

    Does anyone know - why can't you use the dog holes (which should be in perfect alignment) to register the fence and track at 90 degrees to each other? If the dog holes aren't perpendicular to the table edges or the track/fence that would seem to defeat their purpose.

    May 2022 - I bought the MFT/3. The product is great however the fence clamp I have is not the same as in this tutorial. The lower lever for attaching to the V-Grove is round, small, and plain pain in the butt tightening over and over. With that in mind, is there a part # so I can have a lever instead of round knob to tighten to the V-Grove?

    Great content! But PLEASE do something about his microphone overdriving the input - we're getting digital distortion and it makes the video hard to listen to on a good sound system. Maybe it's just a matter of the sound check - make sure you're under Unity Gain when he's at his loudest.

    Hi does this work with the Makita rail?

  • @MyGarageWorkshop
    @MyGarageWorkshop 4 роки тому

    Not sure how much calibration is done at the factory. I noticed his table has the same issue as mine did out of the box. The factory installed stops were not even. Notice how one end of his straight edge is covering about 1/2 of a dog hole but the end closest to the edge only covers about 1/3. I wanted to be able to use bench dogs in mine as well and have them be square to the guide rail so the first step should probably be to “home calibrate” the stops. Otherwise I have been pleased with this table. Makes cutting repeatable and accurate panels very easy. I also use it with my OF1400 for very accurate dados.

    • @heystarfish100
      @heystarfish100 4 роки тому +1

      I have owned one of these tables since they released this model. I use my dogs from the clamping elements to set my guide rail and then adjust the stops to this new setting. I then use the dogs to set the fence square to the rail.

    I love the video series and really do appreciate the time and effort that Festool has invested in producing it. However, I'd like to offer what I hope is considered a constructive criticism. The presenter -- who is fantastic -- is directing his attention to the 'B' camera rather than the 'A' camera. In effect, he's speaking to someone off-screen rather than directly to "me" (we the viewers). This may seem like a minor quibble, but it's the difference between being fully engaged with the presenter and products or watching from the sidelines. I hope this is somewhat helpful -- and thanks for suffering through the well-intentioned rant :-)

    So if u want to put a guide rail the other way around (perpendicular) like i did... There are no knobs to align the guide rail, so make sure u have a hammer and patience to calibrate it.

    Hello Brian, I like Festool and have multiple 18V tools and other accessories. But here my comment. Yes, you can make an MFT tabletop with the 32 distance with the right tools easily. You are a trainer salesperson, that's good, but don't tell something is more difficult than it is. You don't need to do that, you have Festool behind you already.
    You don't need to lie so we buy Festool tools. Don't make us craftsman look bad.
    You are a professional Festool user or are you a gimmick? Are you the one giving Festool haters the argument they like to use? Festool is a gimmick? Make jokes if you want, but don't play down what we can make ourselves and do it good. Yes Festool is expensive more than is needed. Yes I like Festool tools. Gif us a proud feeling, don't boost the Festool hatred because you are incompetent, because you can't make your MFT tabletop shine. I can, so can you. Don't play us down because you want to sell Festool replacements.

    Is there any point in having your 6ft stick or banging on about social distancing if you're not going to practice it during the video? After the first couple of minutes, the people filming with their phones are constantly in the shot and stood within a couple of feet, sometimes less. Yes, the info is great but please practice safer social distancing (even if it's just for the video).
