This is really great, I'm sure users of older cars are EAGER to get these updates that Volkswagen was able to perfect now! That is why we have OTAs, right?
Wow, nice intro with drone! Thks for the Heads Up display review. That was the best and most I've seen. (But, keep in mind I haven't been specifically researching or watching UA-cam videos about it either :-)
Hi, Great information on your video - Do you know if this HUD is also the same in the Mk3 Tiguan? with the Augmented reality display? very poor information on the VW web sites. The one i am getting is a PHEV.
You can get the green “car in front” line appear if you tap your acceleration pedal and someone is on front of you. I have disabled the auto lane change since it’s slow, keeps the blinker on, and during the lane change the steering wheel presence sensor is more sensitive.
I got my ID3 about a month ago and it came with the new infotainment system aswel as this software. I was quite surprised as it was not available when I ordered it. Have to say I’m really impressed by it and the HUD. Love the car!
Very curious to know if you find any bug with 5.0 that you didn't have with the previous other two ID.7 you had in your last video and/or if the bugs you experienced there before are fixed now with 5.0?
Chris, thank you for the useful review, as always. But I can't help but be a little under-impressed with the HUD, and I'm not saying it as a VW hater (in fact, I have recently ordered the ID.7 Tourer). I currently have an Enyaq that is almost 4 years old now and the head-up display looks almost the same. Just about the only thing that is missing on my old Enyaq compared to the ID.7 Tourer is the auto lane change.
I got almost disgusted of VW, not because of their amazing cars, but because of how corrupted and stupid their sellers are. NEVER buying anything from them (at least around where I live)
Very glad to see the HUD work with android auto now...let's be honest nobody is using the standard navigation if you can have google maps with satelite view.
Lots of good things about this car. Glad the software is better - the previous software was definitely a dealbreaker. In the future, I hope VW ditches the “glued on iPad” integration of the infotainment screen. In therms of exterior design. Loots of good things, but the tail-lights on the id.7 (and all most all current VWs) is just plain ugly… However, love the HUD on this one! Lots of cool features.
Well, that looks like an update that should be feasible to implement for cars with 3.x software. Wondering whether VW will go that way or just let old hardware cars die with 3.7.
Looks like a very very small improvement to me. It still looks very static and if something is adjusted to the reality like it should if you talk about "augmented" reality it still looks very fidgety.
Great video. Just made me want to get that car even more! 😆 Question: Is it possible to upgrade the software yourself, or do you have to take the car to the auto-shop for that?
How does one update to this version? Also, where is this view button? Mine only shows the speed limit, but haven't had enough time to do dive super deep yet.
what about the older ID7s, my Tesla is getting old, but I won’t change to a car that can’t even update itself while plugged in and connected to WiFi in my garage
Stay with Tesla. I have an Enyaq with older software, was promised battery pre-heating in future OTA updates which never happened, now will have to go to service to get 3.7 update which takes two days, doesn't give any new functionality (no battery pre-heating! And winter is approaching) and many have reported issues with it ranging from new bugs to car getting bricked and stuck in service for weeks. Stay away from VAG EVs. They look nice and the mechanical part is well built but on the software side it is a complete disaster.
If there is no update, I will never buy a vw again. VW deceived me with the ID.4, if it wants to deceive me with the ID.7, let it think very carefully.
@@andrej4128 How did you get deceived? I had 2021 ID3 and that did receive multiple updates that meaningfully made the car better. Also the battery(12v) and the AC lines were replaced with no cost. It would been great to have more features added, but I think there were hardware limitations.
@@BatteryLife My 2019 Kona had one, but it had a small screen that came up above the instrument cluster, and that's what the HUD projected against. It wasn't projecting against the windshield itself. Some people speculate that VW wanted to keep some of these options for Audi only, but they aren't saying so that's only a guess.
Thank you for showing the head up display performance. Nice job by VW.

Will you also get an ID.7 Pro S with the 86kWh battery pack? Would be interesting to see how the charging on that one performs.
Good job filming the HUD. My old car had it but the new one doesn't. I never managed to get it on video very well

will the HUD show google maps directions from an iPhone or is only Apple Maps supported if using an iPhone?
ID7 Tourer !! Wow this is the car I have been waiting for.

Can’t u OTA update your ID3 to 5.0?
This place is very nice ❤❤
Nice video. Look like head up for Q6 e-tron
Nice video as usual.

Thanks for this video, there's not much information about the HUD !
For Apple CarPlay, does it only work with Apple Maps ? Or also Google Maps / Waze?
Most of the changes are minor and pretty incremental. But the AA/CarPlay navigation stuff, they really should backport. But they probably won't...

A bit behind Porsche and BMW HUD, but overall a good job. About what I had on my Mazda CX-9.
Super cool indeed
brillant! 🤩
Really helpful! So now I know I can save money not specifying that option
Its standard fit in the UK!
@@wassap786 So black Duct tape seems a cheap solution
So AR directions are shown with carplay aswell now? - if so that is really good to hear.. had been my one big gripe about getting car with AR hud
Does the navigation work with Apple Carplay as well or only Android Auto? Thanks for the video!
Is it possible to get VW GPS destination headup display information in same time that we are using Android Auto Waze on the multimedia screen ?
I just wish this new animations will come as an update to cars with 4.x - time will tell…
I got almost disgusted of VW, not because of their amazing cars, but because of how corrupted and stupid their sellers are. NEVER buying anything from them (at least around where I live)

So many customers test drive the normal ID.7 and then say they would order the tourer.

What was the outside temperature, consumption seems high
I can’t figure out why they have never offered heads up display in the USA?
Hi Christian, great video, do you happen to know if ID.7’s produced in 2023 will get updated to Software 5.0. I am on 4.0
Does the ID 3 get the software 5.0 ? as i don't think you mentioned it
Is there a video coming on the 5.0 SW? I have 4.1 now in my 2024 ID.4 4Motion that I just got delivered!
Is there still ID Light for latest ID3, 4, 5 and 7? In China, VM have deleted the ID Light in the car for latest ID3 and 4.
Does anyone know if the cupra born VZ comes with this too, or not?
Is this new HUD also a feature of the 5.0 update or is this only for the newest versions of the ID.7?
I can confirm that my Id.7 I got end of june has 5.0
Tourer or sedan?
@@pasilehto sedan
I got mine on June 7th and I'm stuck with 4.1 :-(
Wasn't this feature already promised when ID3 was announced?
If so, will the "first movers" get it, or is the hardware not able to do that?
Will 2024 ME4 cars get this update?

Yes all cars with 4.x will get an OTA to 5.x.

Can we use Google Maps with the HUD under Apple Car Play? Most annoying that it’s not been possible.
Can I get it on a 23 id 4
Can it be that this is also the same then on qthe new golf 8.5 hud? Looks nice
Is Apple maps / Waze / Google Maps or other carplay / android auto navigation possible in the heads up display?

Is the headsup display from Skoda Enyaq the same as the ID cars?
How many heads do you have? 😅
yes, they share many components

My VW Atlas has a HUD. ;-)
Lol such long waited update and only a heads up display? Update😂😂
Strange power consumption?!
Why bother to buy one when 5.x will soon be obsoleted and 6.x comes out? And of course none of the 5.x can be updated to the new one.
click bait. The hud is exactly same as my 2021 1st. The arrows at least are same

Tesla go home ;)
And my 1.5 year od ID4 is already not getting any software updates. Fu** VW! I should have bought a Tesla....
this is super disturbing, it is like a frickin video game, pls say you can turn it off
Yes
Can't see it should be so much better than the old HUD.
A few new things, but all and all it shows the same as the old.. 🤷🏻
