Old BERNINA TV commercial

This New Zealand TV commercial from the 1970s advertises the BERNINA 830 record, produced from 1971. The TV commercial features the BERNINA song, which became iconic in New Zealand.
The BERNINA 830 record is still the best-selling BERNINA model today. It had an electronic foot pedal and established itself as a top model in the 1970s, remained a bestseller for eleven years and still enjoys a legendary reputation today.

I'm just finding this site and love the video, only because I have the old 830 Record. It was given to me by family, had only been used by them, and still have the original receipt, and the red box. But I don't think I'd be walking along swinging my old girl like that!!!

Hi there, thanks for your feedback. Yes, that's possible. As far as we know, the song was varied in New Zealand and adapted to the style of the time. So there were several variants. I think they even made something in the Julio Iglesias style when Julio was popular 😊

It would seem that women were a whole lot stronger then. My Bernina 730 weighs a whole lot more than I would happily swing as the model us doing in the ad. We didnt have to go to gym - we just picked up our sewing machines

Try swing the empty case and You'll see: You're as strong as the women were in the 70's. ;)
