- Опубліковано 1 січ 2025
- These commercials aired on ABC in the spring of 1977
1. Mounds & Almond Joy (Commercials staring here are from 3/28/77)
2. McDonald's Filet-O-Fish (LOL at Paul Frees' echoing voice of God at the end)
3. Purina Cat Chow
4. Nescafe
5. ABC Station ID
6. Kentucky Fried Chicken
7. Promo for "Eight Is Enough"
8. "The Brady Bunch Hour" Commercial Bumper
9. Gaines-Burgers Dog Food
10. Singer Sewing Machine Sale (RIP Debbie Reynolds. Also the guy with the black hair is Michael Tucci, aka Sonny from "Grease")
11. Tickle (The last girl on the pull up bar looks really familiar)
12. Nice 'n Easy
13. Pillsbury Plus (LISTEN, MOM...it's CAKE MIX!)
14. Clorox Bleach
15. Promo for "Blansky's Beauties" (This was a short lived spin-off of "Happy Days"), "Fish" (The kid yelling "Go Fish!" is Todd Bridges. I really need to watch this show and "Barney Miller", Abe Vigoda was the man) and "Starsky & Hutch"
16. Carnation Instant Milk (Commercials staring here are from 4/4/77)
17. Kool-Aid
18. Gravy Train (With June Lockhart. I guess because she played the mom on "Lassie" that makes her a leading authority on dogs or something)
19. ABC Station ID
20. Fotomat
21. Wheat Thins (With America's sweetheart, Sandy Duncan. I had no idea she'd been doing these ads since the 70's)
22. Promo for "The Easter Bunny's Comin' To Town" (This is an uninspired, mad libs style remake of "Santa Claus is Comin' To Town". It can be seen here: • The Easter Bunny is Co... IMO Rankin Bass' earlier Easter special "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" was much better)
23. "The Brady Bunch Hour" Commercial Bumper
24. Goodyear Tires
25. Canada Dry (With Aldo Ray, Broderick Crawford and Jack Palance. I can't tell if Jack Palance is supposed to be Genghis Khan or a Klingon)
26. Pepsi
27. Life Cereal (A classic)
28. Tickle
29. Final Net
30. Promo for "Eight Is Enough"
31. Promo for "Future Cop" (OMGWTFBBQ) and "Three's Company"
I love old commercials. I know the era had its own problems but it seems so nice compared to 2020
I was commenting on the very samething...today is missing quality of the old.. :(
Absolutely agree!
I don’t remember there being problems back then. Those were the days. It was all about radio, tv, music, going to the movies and enjoying the outdoors. Now everyone is distracted by a mobile phone or computer - how very sad.
Never thought of watching these commercials just kind of stumbled here but love it. I was born I that era and some of those commercials still played at the beginning of the 80’s
The thing that distinguishes older television ads from those put out nowadays is that the advertising industry used to hire composers to write original songs for the product they were advertising. It made ads original and fun. Now, all they do is rip off the pop and rock hits from an earlier time (as they become legally available) and throw them into their ads. It’s awful! Nothing original about it!
Much simpler and happier times. So blessed to have grown up in the 70's.
I'm so glad I grew up in this era. Miss those days.
Yes me too .. I feel sorry for the kids nowadays
@Fred WilkersonYep, I really understand!♥️
I wish we can go back to old commercials and Saturday mornings cartoons
Chuck Christian yeah a lot of today’s stuff is too bouncy annoying and soulless
The main thing I miss about commercials is the jingles. Anyone who grew up in the 70s will never forget them.
Thanks for posting these. Commercials were so good back then. Nowadays I'll pay more for a subscription just so I don't have to watch the ads yet I find myself on YT watching old commercials. Go figure 💁♀️
All we have now is pharmaceutical and life insurance commercials!
Hey 👋 Barnabas love Dark Shadows!
@@samanthab1923 Yep, I was one of those kids who ran home from school to watch D.S.
Brucifer Mephistopheles I know it was great. Watched a Night Stalker episode Saturday night, the music always reminds me of DS. While in HS I met a girl whose dad was an ABC camera man & worked on the show. They had some furniture from the sets after it got canceled.
@@samanthab1923 The Night Stalker 1972 movie was produced by Dan Curtis who also created Dark Shadows, The music was the same composer (Robert Cobert) for both shows.
I was born in 1972 by 1977 I was 5 years old. I do miss my childhood from the 70s & the 80s.
Man, these commercials bring back some old memories. This is the first time I have seen some of these since I was a kid 50 years ago back in the early 1970s. Amazing seeing them again for the first time in so long. Those were the good old days!
What a wonderful blast from the past
Commercials were fun to watch then. I wanna go back!!!!!!!
Jeanie Chowdhury yeah me too
I was born in 1963. These classic 'feel good' commercials were from times when people actually interacted with each other and were physically active outside.
I'm 27, so born in 1994. Watching this makes me nostalgic for a time I wasn't even alive in.
It's a cliche, but it's true: they were simpler times.
🎵”sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don’t” 😄
Ooo 6 likes my most liked comment, thank you random strangers
These commercials bring back sweet memories, miss those days.
Back in the days when commercials were pleasant to watch and when prescription drug advertising was properly banned.
I swear I can have a bad day , I always love watching your video , brings me bk 2 a time where things so fun and easy ... omg ... now watching these videos remind me why I miss being a kid ....
The Almond Joy jingle is the best ever written. I hadn't seen that commercial in years, but I was singing it just the other day - of course, I always include the "because".
I remember the almond joy commercial very well despite the fact that I hate almond joy 🤮 😊. Also, being named Mike, the Life cereal commercials just made my day!(NOT)..I remember alot of these and of course the various show promos.
Love these commercials. Was a kid growing up in the 70s
I grew up watching these commercials and when I found out it was an actual industry, I decided I wanted in. 30 years later, I can look back and say I've created commercials for Burger King, Pepsi, Lincoln, Nissan, Preparation H and many more.
Born 1964 And remember these commercials but more so just how it felt to grow up in the 70s. What a classic simple and free time.
That’s what a lot of today’s commercials are missing, freaking catchy jingles .
My grandmother had those Nescafe coffee cups. Hers weren't globed but cylindered. But still from Nescafe in the 70s in the Caribbean. These ads bring back such warm memories.
Mikey being the cereal testing guinea pig will stand the test of time.
Remember the chuck wagon commercial? Used to love that one.
Yeah, I always wondered at the time how the dog managed to not plow head first into the cabinet like any real world dog would have. I know my cats have a ball running to get the dog to build up a good head of steam as they run toward the kitchen cabinets and then veer off at the last second.
I’d forgotten about Tickle anti-perspirant! I wish I could still get it! I loved it!
That famous "Sometimes You Feel Like a Nut" commercial dates back to around 1970 or 1971, but it aired into the early 1980s. Same with the Life cereal "Mikey" commercial. Some commercials are so iconic that they never go away.
The jingle might date back to the early 70s, but that commercial is from 1977.
Isn't it funny how popular these old commercials still are? And how we can sing some of them even after all these years? Now THAT's advertising! 👍Ain't nobody humming commercials today....
I sometimes show my daughter old commercials and say the same thing about today's commercials. They just don't hit you like they did in the past
I still have those globe mugs in the NesCafe commercial! They were my mother's. I can still see her and my late Aunt drinking from them. They are in my curio cabinet now
You should be commended! A great compilation of memories from a great decade. Thanks!!
I was born in 1965
LOVE THESE COMMERCIALS
Made me miss my childhood. Thanks for the memories
Long live the good ol 70's
I was born in 1990 and I just love watching old commercials
These take me back to when I was a kid in the 70’s! And how about that massive amount of sugar dumped into the Kool-Aid pitcher! Haha!! Those were the days! 😊
I LOVE and have missed hearing that "sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't" ad!! Thanks for sharing all these great ads.
Thanks for not defiling the image with an egotistical logo! - fun to watch.
"he won't eat it, he hates everything...
he likes it!, hey Mikey!"
Iconic Americana.
Glad to see you quoted that correctly. When people carelessly misquote it as "Let's give it to Mikey--he'll eat anything!", it drives me nuts. If he'll eat *anything*, what's the big deal of his liking LIFE?
@@ellynmacgregor8210 Been trying to tell folks this for decades!!!
Did you know the commercial inspired the ice cream shop “Mikey Likes It” in New York City. There’s a video on it by A Great Big Story
Anyone who recognizes the phrase "Mikey Likes It" and its origin from this commercial would make that connection. It's not exactly obscure. It's up there as one of the more famous cereal commercials of all time.
Ah, classic commercials- something positive in this crazy world we're living in 👍❤👍!!!
Oh god how I miss those days!!!!😭😭😭
"Mikeie, he likes it!" This young actor lived two blocks from us in the Bronx. They were a very nice family and eventually moved to Yonkers. My sister was friends with the boys sister in the commercial. I hope they all are well.
God I miss the 70's and 80's.
I Love Those Old Commercials.
Thank You.
“He likes it! Hey Mikey!
A TRUE CLASSIC!
He was my neighbour in the 70’s-he would be in his late 40’s early 50’s now.
Yes that commercial was so popular
I can watch the old commercials over and over. The commercials today are pathetic!
Mounds were my Grandma's favorite candy.
That’s so cool! My grandmom’s favorite also, and whenever we would go visit she would have a few of them “hidden” in a drawer for me and my sister. She would always say “now don’t tell your mother”. 😂❤️
The sound quality on this commercial block is fantastic!
They’re clearly sourced from a network master tape, and not VHS/Beta sourced like many home recordings from this era. They also seem to have had a liberal amount of noise reduction applied to the audio before I edited it, so that masks the age a little.
The LIFE cereal commercial is one of the best ads.
Unforgettable! It was infamous that commercial
I just loved Sandy Duncan.
I remember every last one of them! 😂 My, how times have changed!
"Sometimes you feel like a nut sometimes you dont"
I felt that
Good commercials back then better than today's
We should just go back to having jingles in commercials. All we have now is the “Liberty Liberty Liberty” song. How lame.
I agree 1000000000 percent
And the My Pillow Commercial 50 times a day. Grrr.
Thank you for a great vid that brings back so many memories !!!
ABC was my favorite TV network, great sitcoms, cartoons and Movies of The Week.
1:48 I love these globe cups! I’d totally buy something like that
Love these old commercials! Thank you!
Sometimes you feel like a nut. Sometimes you don't! 🤣 Classic!!
Eight Is Enough.. memories of ice skating with Adam Rich at Topanga Mall!🙋🎄☃️ 🎄
They did a giveaway on the Nescafe mugs. You had to mail in the labels and they sent a mug. My mom had a dozen of those globe mugs! lol
Still got mine!
Hey mikey, he likes it ! That was played for years. Its crazy how commercials can stick in your mind.
I love the coffee commercials boy I Miss commercials now all they show you is which hospital should you go to and if you can afford a $50,000 car and that's about it
I have those coffee cups in the Nescafé commercial!
This one hits me right in the feels. I was finally old enough to understand what I was watching.
I remember watching Fish and Starkey and Hutch as a kid!!..How shows back then were so AWESOME compare to today's shows!!!
I remember being around 12-13 years old when the commercial at 4:21 seconds came on TV. I moved as close as I could to the TV. Also liked her smile.
The Carnation commercial was Vicki Lawrence.
I remember some of these. That guy from the Singer Sewing machine commercial was on "Salems Lot" we always had "Browns Fried Chicken" in my family, we got Gains Burgers for our dog after feeding her table scraps all her life
Did she ever give us a dirty look. Was that ever a waste of money. LOL. Just saying. Have a great day everyone.
It's like Ive traveled in time!
I'm not gonna try it, YOU try it! 😅
For some reason, the audio quality suprised me.
These are almost certainly sourced from a network master tape. Vol. 26 is also taken from the "Brady Bunch Hour" and is of similar quality: ua-cam.com/video/IczQ7XBzN9c/v-deo.html
80sCommercialVault must be because it’s really clear too, especially for 1977, shows you how bad tv broadcasting tech was back then. Watching on tv back then the picture quality was much worse .
I'm really glad they eventually color-coded Almond Joy and Mounds.
Nescafe is still super popular in places that don't like to brew coffee. I'd say 90% of hotels in Europe and the Middle East and SE Asia use Nescafe in rooms.
It's so weird to finally see an ad for Blansky's Beauties. Nancy Walker played Rhoda's mother on her eponymous show, and ended up taking a year off of Rhoda to pursue her own interests. The next season she came back.
Aside from a couple shows, this volume could easily be one of your early 80s volumes! Amazing!
The Mcdonalds commercial was really interesting as a 20 year old that currently works at Mcdonalds.
Lets let mikey try it.
HE LIKES IT!
Wow! Such nostalgia. At least Canada Dry Ginger Ale is still not too sweet.
Much respect to Aldo Ray, Broderick Crawford, and Jack Palance. 🙏🏽
My god xD the tickle commercial. hahaha i can't
@ 6:37 Vicki Lawrence (The Carol Burnett Show, Mama's Family) I think she was already famous when this ran. Ms. Lawrence had a big career but where is she now I wonder?
Don't forget her #1 smash hit "The Night the Lights Went out in Georgia."
The only times I've seen her are on MeTV dressed up like Mama between commercials and shows (just like Jamie Farr) but I don't know how old the spot is and the other time I was watching on YT the skit (Mama's House setting) from The Carol Burnett Show where Tim Conway steals the scene and goes on and on while Carol, Vicki and Harvey try their hardest not to laugh, well not so much Vicki because there's a story behind it. There's a related video with an interview with Vicki in I think is her home discussing that skit. Again, not sure when it recorded. Could have sworn she did a commercial a few years ago. Wish she did more projects.
Sometimes you feel like a nut. Sometimes you don't.🎶🎵
My dad grew up in this era.
On the Tickle commercial, when Star Wars first came out all the kids loved light sabres. I built a light sabre out of the Tickle bottle hoping none of the others would recognize what it was. Either they didn't care or they loved that movie so much, they played with that sabre till it wore out!
LOL. I took the screen off my mother's back door and hung it on my wall and pasted little pictures of tie fighters on it and pretended I was in the millennium falcon. I even cut the sleeves off my black jacket and used it as a vest to look like Han Solo. Damn I miss childhood!!
@@jbro4400 yeah in th 70s creativity was an everyday all day event. But you never really cared what time it was!
Aw! What a cute little cat! 😺
10:09
I just had some of that a few days ago for the first time in decades, and it doesn't taste the same as it did back in the 70's, I guess that what happens when they change every single ingredient to something cheaper.
Also McDonald’s fillet of fish is pretty much like a perfect frozen fish stick sandwich
The Tickle commercial...very suggestive. My sister and I used to recreate the Tickle ads we saw on TV when we would see Tickle at Kroger 's. No wonder mom would be so embarrassed. We were like 5 and 8 years old. Then, 'Like A Virgin' would come on, and we'd be singing along. Poor mom couldn't get to that cashier fast enough. 😂
OMG. I have a set of those mugs.
Very fun commercials
👏🏽 oh my goodness I love this
KFC tasted so good back then. What happened?
They used animal fat to fry the chicken back then.
Everything has changed everything is bad now
Mikey,& I are the same age, the same year , the same Birthday.
3:03--What ever happened to Gaines-Burgers--"The canned dog food without the can"?
5:05--Pillsbury was better back then, when they were still independent and not owned by a big conglomerate (General Mills). I remember that cake mix with pudding in the mix!
10:40--One out of many great jingles used by Pepsi-Cola over the years.
Gaines-Burgers still sell, but in a different package now.
What Memories...😁
Today that girl would ask for Popeyes, Zaxby’s , or Chik-Fila , how things have changed 😄😁
Beautiful smiles of the 3 women on the 2nd tickle deodorant commercial.
Oh my goodness I had an Athena 2000 sewing machine! My dad bought it for my mom and she passed it on to me. I had it for years!
11:12 is the most classic commercial.
Carnation Instant Milk now figures out to be over $8.00 a gallon - cheapest I could find price. So, not so economical now. It used to be dirt cheap.
I went looking for powdered milk a few years ago. Just for cooking. $6.50 is for a small zip lock pouch.
Yep. Name of the game seems to be to rip off the customer. Gotta make those pandemic profits back....
I was 13 months old when these commercials aired.
Your comment is also 13 months old
Back then there was 3 things we did not care about sugar fat and salt. How things change!!
I always thought the two lads handing Mickey the bowl of Life Cereal were good actors. Looking at it now, I think they are GREAT actors.
That girl in the Nice N' Easy shampoo commercial at 4:45 looks like Kelly Ripa. Of course that's not her, because Kelly was in grade school at the time, but quite the resemblance.
7:34 I was a kool aid addict ate it directly off the packet for that sugar rush that made me bounce all over the place like a ball it a miracle I’m not diabetic lol
I was born in 73, and wow!!! I'm old 😅
I remember Fish a little bit. But I remember Todd Bridges the most.
