I always loved the gimmick of starting with a ton of vils but being unable to make more- it increases the stakes and levels the playing field, in that better players arent able to utilize their boom skills and superior macro, while giving weaker players a great eco without having to worry about tc idle time

I get the Dog flying around as a proxy for Santa's sleigh ... and VMDL "can't catch me" as the Gingerbread Man ... but I'm confused about the Wild Woman.
I made the map and you're more creative than me - perfect fit for both ideas. :( Here's the unfortunate situation: Capture Age can't read the names of renamed characters in scenarios, so because T90 wouldn't be able to see the names, I didn't even bother thinking about giving them any names or meaning. Honestly all the the extra units were just added for the potential for fun minigames while players worked on chopping out, and they were all selected because they were relatively weak to actual army but good for entertainment. Still, if you want to imagine, the Wild Woman can be the angel at the top of the tree. If Capture Age adds renamed unit recognition as a feature, I'll definitely use my brain in the future.

Commie games are fickle. You do what you can to weigh the odds in your favour, and that includes not looking threatening in the early stages of the game (which red didn't do) and picking up 30 relics if they're available (which I did). If that means you have to be the villain, then that's what you do. As this game shows, you can stack the odds as much as you like, but nothing guarantees you the win 11

Red was the best player here. From the beginning he went for the objective, took control of the Hill, lose 1vsAll, and then took control again with chance to win alone
can you takeover the white vills in the corners? If so, it may be possible to use the sabo to kill the hostile mobs around the vill quickly, and than use the camel to get the vill home. Than you could build more really early on.
What do you mean? There were no white vills in the corners, but there were a few convertable Gaia units. However, civs with free villagers (Chinese, Mayans, Bengalis) can all get vills outside early. It shouldn't be a huge deal strategically though since anyone would still have to chop through to the monument, the monument is difficult to wall around and fortify, and everyone should have abundant resources once they chop out. I tried to ensure that the map wouldn't tilt in favor of a single lucky player.

Started playing aoe2 after watching some of your videos. Big fan of these kind of maps and your commentary. Got any tips for a new player? My only experience with rts games was Age of Mythology when i was a kid
I'll say it again: Allied victory needs to be banned on any map where teams can change like this one. What's to stop all the players from allying and declaring victory? You shouldn't be able to have two or three players all win because it decreases competition, thus making the game worse.
Still, it would have been more interesting if everyone was competing against each other without one group having an unfair advantage.@@scottdebrestian9875

Giving players penguins early-game is kinda unfair because everyone starts on 96 pop...if someone took as many of the penguins as possible they could totally screw over one or more players by killing their vills

In a nutshell: 2nd best player tried multiple times to win and lost. Best player didn't understand winning conditions and lost to a chaotic alliance.
