    This is the first part of a very long video I recorded. The first section covers the absolute basics and a lot of you may already know these techniques. Check out 201 for more "advanced" tips. This video is meant to supplement my other tutorials, in which I'm not able to go into as much detail as I like. I hope this helps!

    Hello Kayley. I just want to tell you eventhough this is an old video it really is a life changer. I managed to pull all of these tips off even with cheap drugstore bobby pins! :)
    Thank you so much for putting so much love and effort in your videos.

    Both of your bobby pinning videos are amazing- they helped me out so much. I did my own hair for prom using your Hunger Games premiere updo tutorial and I hairsprayed my bobby pins and crisscrossed them just like you said and my hair not only lasted through all of the dancing at prom but also the whole next day after prom!! My hair turned out amazing and everyone loved it, so thank you so so much for all your hair tutorials!! You are so great and definitely my favorite UA-cam hair guru!! :)

    Thank you so much for making this. I have really thick, long, fine hair and it eats up my bobby pins so quickly. I'm currently in a bobby pin crisis and this helped a lot.

      Just bc I’m curious and think I’m ignorant and would like to un-ignorant myself…. May I respectfully ask what it means to have fine, thick hair? Or just fine hair. My pea brain thought it was one or the other, so now I’m questioning what “fine” hair means 🥲

    Hi and thank you so much for this really helpful video!! I have straight, hip-long hair and was never able to Bobby Pin it in a way that it really felt secure. I blamed on the length and weight of my hair and simply avoided any hair-do's that actually needed Bobby-Pinning. Seeing your video now I went and tried out the spraying of the pins and then the criss crossing, and it really works! And if my straight, silky and looong hair can be pinned into place, than everything else can too! :) Thanks!

    After watching this video I bought the Mariana's bobby pins; for those of you that don't think that they could be different, they are! Compared to Goody's or other drug store brands, the Marianas made out of a heavier, thicker metal which means that they keep their shape and don't deform as easily, and when you cross them there's more substance to keep them together. Also, The "eye" of the bobby pin is larger than Goody's, so they can hold more hair. These are definitely a must for thick hair.

I always thought I just had hair that was too thick and that's why my pins would fall out...now I see it was because I didn't know to always crisscross them! Thanks again for the helpful tips! :)

    Actually bobby pins are supposed to be used with the wavy part at the root and the straight part on top because the waves will hold the bottom hair while the straight part will push the hair ontop and in the grooves.

    • @Snowfoxie1
      @Snowfoxie1 8 років тому +3

      +Rachels Trend Talk Wrong. Notice how the professional ones are actually curved slightly so that the non-wavy side matches the curvature of the scalp? And hot the end of the wavy side sticks up so that if you put it wavy side down it would push away from your scalp? Seriously, ask ANY professional stylist. Wavy side up is how they go. Don't believe every thing you see on Pinterest.

    • @sonalirai5835
      @sonalirai5835 7 років тому +1

      Sarara R Relax, girl! It's just a bobby pin! The wavy side down method actually works for alot of people (there is something called the frictional force). Is this really something to debate about?!

    If you have light hair, you can use baking soda or baby powder. If your hair is darker, you can use bronzer. I read somewhere that some people use cocoa powder, but that can get really messy, so I'd stick with the bronzer.
