Things I have learned from watching Miami Boat Ramps: 1. Always get more truck than you think you will need, preferably a 4wd. 2. Never come into the dock faster than you are willing to hit it. 3 watch the marker buoys coming in or you will hit the sand bar/rocks and be stuck. 4. Have lines and fenders ready in advance, but be ready to swap sides quickly. 5. Check everything, trim lines etc. 6. Check it again, you clearly missed something. 7. Most important of all, and you dont need a boat for this one: Go down to the docks and watch, its better than watching TV sitcoms!!!
@@Adui13 They have plenty of money. They just don't want to spend any of it on YOU. Case in point: President Xi's visit to San Francisco. Magically, overnight, they showed they were perfectly capable of cleaning up the city. But that's only for foreign dictators, not their paltry constituents.
I drive a little Colorado 2wd and I tow my little 1500lb boat never ever spun on the ramp however I feel that when the damn boat is bigger than the truck maybe a 4x4 should be used can’t use the I didn’t have the extra money to spec it excuse lol
Yes, absolutely. Also, carry bags of coarse sand in the bed to add weight over the rear axle. You can use that sand to add some grip as well. Tire traction mats are another option. In addition, everyone should carry wheel chocks (large enough for your tires) as a precaution to prevent you from losing your rig to slippery ramps.
I dont understand how you can spend nearly 100k on your boat but wont spend the extra 4k for four wheel drive in your truck. Sooner or later you will need 4x4.
Sometimes turning the traction control off helps because your wheel speed is not reduced by the computer. I mean years ago when I grew up we did not have traction control and few people had 4wd.
Tongue weight is great for safety on the highway and for pulling the boat up out of the ramp. Letting some air out of your tires can also help, like fifteen pounds. Really? Looks like you need a rake to clean up some of the seaweed from the ramp.
The commentary on the video is the most painful part. 1) the goal is to get the trailer close to the dock (multiple times there was commentary about getting the trailers too close to the dock and they weren’t), 2) talking about a “hump” on the ramp that the trucks were having a hard time getting over. That “hump” was some kind of algae growing on the ramp making it very slick. Appears the water receded and exposed that part making it difficult for all the tow vehicles. Definitely benefited to have 4wd.
People are so silly. My dad was right when he taught me about these kinds of people. We had canoes and had way more fun. These types of people don't know about real life. Big boats, big money, big waste of time, big noise... Get a canoe. they are better in every single way.
Less cost, maintenance, etc. If you live in the south, you don't really need it. I have 4WD myself because of where I live, but even state troopers in the northern states have 2WD. What matters most is tread, wheel and tire size. Too many idiots going for the extra large wheels and extremely low profile tires. Another tip is to avoid launching in low tide.
Don’t need 4wd if your damn boat isn’t bigger then your truck but when your boat is bigger then your truck you have the money to spec the 4wd and I’ve never had 4wd my little Colorado pulls it out everytime no spinning however the boat is 1500lbs and is smaller then the truck is and I have mud grips on the rado I do want a 4wd but I’m just starting trade school so I don’t have the money and the rado was a gift from a family member gotta do with what you have also the boat ramps here in Tennessee seem to be less slick
0:25 See the boat on the left. How did they manage to get so much water into their boat? Do they all sail around without the drain plug? 🤔

Looks like a normal day at the ramps
Algae on ramps is like ice
I am always amazed that the local authorities don't take better care of the ramps.
a matter of money. If there is no budget for it it wont get done.

People don't want to pay Income/State Taxes, so Public Things are always neglected
The ramps look perfectly fine. What needs doing?
those wagon wheels on the lifted truck look ridiculous
Wonder why the boat on left in first clip had all that water pumping out.
Either it damn near sank or draining the live well or fish box...
Why am I seeing boats with steering wheel to port now? They're supposed to be to starboard.
@RideAcrossTheRiver why do you say supposed to be? I know they are usually on right, but is there a rule?
I think I would add a push broom to the boat to clean up some of the slippery weeds on the ramp.
Maybe one or more of those Boyton boaters should bring a power washer with them to clean the ramp.
If I launched there often I would bring a rake and some sand.
I just thought the same
That lifted ford is hideous
Looks like every other hideous lifted truck out there.
ya will never understand why you would get massive wheels on a lifted truck. looks stupid as hell
Yo momma is hideous!
Well, everyone is entitled to their opinions.....
But you are CORRECT!
I just love how many people buy boats and never learn to back them up. 😂
Right? All they gotta do is find an empty parking lot and practice a little bit. Doesn't take very long to learn. 😂
How else are they supposed to learn? You can't practice doing that in a parking lot.
@mam362 yes, yes you can!! Just like backing up any trailer. Smh.
The trim looks good to me.
That did look like some nice trim...
Bald as a cue ball
Is it just me, or do a large percentage of Floridian's have heavy boats and 2 wheel drive trucks? LOL Keep spinin' !
I drive a little Colorado 2wd and I tow my little 1500lb boat never ever spun on the ramp however I feel that when the damn boat is bigger than the truck maybe a 4x4 should be used can’t use the I didn’t have the extra money to spec it excuse lol

What make and model is that boat on the far left?
Question. Couldn’t one just carry some 2x4 pieces to stick in front of the tires to get some grip? Or is that silly, not allowed, etc?
Yes, absolutely.

What kind of boat license practical test do you have there?
All kinds of money and not a lick of sense. Yes its 4wd.
The first black f150 was 2 wheel drive , that's our old truck, new one is 4x4
I really do wonder how the fuck people like this have a well paying consistent job lol.
Are those trucks not with AWD?
This makes me both want to have a boat and to never have a boat 😅 combones with those water police videos 😢
That Ram truck is just like mine and you can see the 4x4 emblem on the tail gate and doesn’t have the sense to use it
I didn't see a ram truck struggling in this video...
It probably broke 😂
RAM drivers are generally stupid regardless.....
It seems like, for pickup trucks, a hitch on the FRONT would be more effective.
I dont understand how you can spend nearly 100k on your boat but wont spend the extra 4k for four wheel drive in your truck. Sooner or later you will need 4x4.
Did the boat on the left even have his drain plug in. Seems like he's pumping out a lot of water
Sometimes turning the traction control off helps because your wheel speed is not reduced by the computer. I mean years ago when I grew up we did not have traction control and few people had 4wd.
It takes awhile to figure out what that 4WD switch is for 😂
I have never seen anyone have the kind of trouble these people are having pulling boat out of the water.
Those rims and tires on the jacked up truck are ridiculous. Idiocracy strikes again.
That bikini makes everything trim up 😂
❤
Интересные видюшки .
Bring a rake. Clear wherl paths. Repeat each time.
That's a) commonsense b) manual labour c) will benefit others. So for those reasons it is against the FLA boat owners code😅.
A better Ramp Surface, designed like sharp Mountain Ranges, would put a Higher PSI Contact on the Tire, and lessen the Wheel Spin
WHY??? Can people NOT pull up 20-30 yards to load people & clear the ramp for other boaters??
Pretty much all cars in Florida are AWD for one reason but trucks, all 2WD.... Mad
What reason?
Tongue weight is great for safety on the highway and for pulling the boat up out of the ramp.
Letting some air out of your tires can also help, like fifteen pounds.
Really?
Looks like you need a rake to clean up some of the seaweed from the ramp.
Those vehicles with the big rims and rubber bands fitted to them look absolutely ridiculous and are useless off road.
Those two wheel drive trucks should move to Portland and transition to four wheel drive trucks 🎉🎉🎉
That lifted Ford with the silly tires and wheels on it would have been hilarious to see sinking underwater.
Somebody thinks that truck is fly?
I hope they don't charge for the use of the slips all it needs is a guy with a pressure washer now and then.
Those rims an tires on that big white truck just look stupid an worthless just saying lol
The guy with the pretty boy truck should stick to car shows
For two-wheel drive vehicles a little parking brake and low gear helps enormously
This is why Australian Boat ramps are better because they have taken thought into the grip your Ute needs to get out of the water

@4:4:20 what is it with Mental Midgets and Stupid Wheels?
People are so silly. My dad was right when he taught me about these kinds of people.

Get a canoe. they are better in every single way.
Can't hit 60 mph and catch air in a canoe.
2 Things:
Use 4wd.
Never buy a truck without 4wd.
pavement princess with no sidewall to air down
lol
Truck being jacked way up in the air was not helpful. Amazing ,😏
Doesn't anyone have 4 wheel drive?
They do in Canada.
06:45 *_STOP SAYING ''SUPER'' close!_*
…and “Bro”
Guys with a truck and no 4wd. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Why are the scores in pavement same direction as travel? Plain stupidity.
Why in the hell do these truck guys not just start in 4WD?!
i sea alot of stupid
@@nakedfreak1 No, he was right that time, lol.
When you jack up your truck, your truck is now prone to roll over, and poor gas mileage
Two-wheel drive pickups are USELESS! Why would anyone not get 4WD?
If you don't use boat ramps, why do you need 4wd?
Less cost, maintenance, etc. If you live in the south, you don't really need it.

The commentary sucks
People too little truck buy too much boat
Way to ruin a perfectly nice truck. Smh.
It should be mandatory for 4x4 if not you get a 1000$ fine!
