Punoi's Valencia Orange S2000

- Back in Novermber 2012, Punoi wanted to do a full makeover with his S2000; new paint, wheels, coilovers, and wire tuck. Having a talk with our friend Chris Morton, he decided to join in on the project. Then in mid December, the tear down began and there was no stopping. At the first location, the car was on jacks, wheels off, engine out, ripping pieces one by one. With Chris working on the body and Punoi doing the wire tuck and engine, there was not turning back. They had planned on finishing the car around March, but problems have occurred just like any other project cars. The car was relocated to another friend Justin Hardin's backyard where they had access to an air compressor and many hand tools. There Punoi and Chris had worked the next few months on it. Parts were breaking and being replaced. More money had to be saved and spent constantly on supplies. It was still winter so they worked outside in the freezing cold, day and night. Everyday that didn't rain, they would come straight to work from their 8-5 jobs along with weekends. Timing wasn't going so well because they wanted the car to be done for the first Import Alliance in 2013. But it was no where to be completed. Most of the time was spent on the fenders and quarter panels being customized to fit Punoi's new wheels. He had bought a set of Algernon Intellese in 18x9 -1 and 18x10 +2. Not your typical offset sizing for an S2000. A set of Nitto Neogens in 205/40 for the fronts and 225/40 for the rears were then mounted. With the new wheel setup being tested on the car, the fenders had to be pulled maybe 2 1/2 inches (possibly more) along with the quarter panels. Chris had done many things he had thought of from working at a body shop. Much bondo was applied to keep the parts looking straight and sharp again. In the mean time, Punoi is working on the engine bay figuring out where to relocate his wires, fuse box, etc and prepping the bay to be painted. In March, the bay was ready to be painted, but not in a booth. Punoi and Chris had rigged up their own booth in the backyard the car was sitting. With Chris being experience with painting, he sprayed the the bay its first taste of the color. The color Punoi had decided was Valencia Orange from a BMW. But that's not how he decided on the color. He first found it on instagram from a guy name Kraft on his Evo. Now that the bay is painted and out of the way, they got back to work. Chris is still tackling on the fenders and quarters while Punoi finished the tuck and installing all engine components. In April, the engine was back in with a couple idling problems but fixed shortly. For the next month, Chris continues with the fenders and finishes. On May 22, Punoi's S2000 took its for steps out of the backyard and on to the road on a rainy day looking very hagard with lots of bondo spots along with an AP2 front bumper and CR lip. To protect the bondo, they took the car to the closest car wash where they had the idea to something idiotic that they'd never have the chance to again, spray painting it green. At this point, we called it the John Deere stage. For the next 2 days, Punoi driven the S2000 around town, work, places he would go on a daily basis. Suddenly, a car backed into the passenger fender while he was at work. Since then, he was insured more money and spent it on a brand new set of fenders even though one was used. Chris asked his boss at the body shop to finish the car there and the boss agreed. So the car was back under construction in Illusions Body Shop in Bristol, TN for the rest of the summer. Punoi and Chris has worked their hardest to perfect the car. Came August 31, it was time for paint. Every part was taken off. The S2000 had doors off looking like a jeep wanting to go off roading. By the end of the day, all parts were painted by Chris and they were relieved from many months of hard work. The following week, everything was put back together and Punoi drove it home with its fresh paint and the biggest smile on his face. A month later, Punoi had installed a brand new set of D2 Racing coilovers to lower it and complete it all. These two have put so much work into this project. Shop may have done this in a month, but with just two guys with the help of a couple friends here and there, hand tools, worst working conditions, it's a big accomplishment for these guys.

Who ever shot this video.....needs an imdb credit....or an Oscar for best director of the year.
I remember watching this video like in 2014 never forgot about this car and how clean it had came out
People always post build videos on UA-cam. .....This one is different, it tells a story and it does it without one word being spoken! This was a great video and a great build, congratulations and great job! Your video and build is very inspiring and motivational!
I feel the shear fact that you had friends come help from other obligations for such a long time is the best part. The fondest memories when we all get old are the best/worse times together. Sick paint job!
This car reflects the builders individuality .That,s what is so great about building a car , some of you is in it .Not something some one else has done, ideas you came up with . GREAT JOB
This is something that really deserves a bow! This is what I call Stance! It is amazingly beautiful! I am writing this with tears of admiration in my eyes. Love it so much. I wish for you more inspiration! Keep it up!
GREAT job. You deserve respect for this build, whether stanced or not. Hard Work should always be respected.
for the people that have never personally repainted a car....this is a great video showing all the man hours between sanding/scuffing bondo & prepping aside from spraying and polishing. Great looking car bro! PROPS..... been there done that and I can feel your pride....:))
these guys are real friends its nice to see a video made where the car isnt the only center of attention although its beautiful it wouldn't be as beautiful as it is without the help of his friends. They worked as a team and created a beautiful master peace
Faith in humanity restored! Great work man! 👍
Project or builds, however you decide to call this? Are just what make you tear down as a car enthusiast and fan.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this S2K, one of my favorites of all time. So much time, effort, hard work, money, sweat, tears, joy, hope and faith .. all for that one smile from Punoi.
What an AMAZING transformation, progression and build. Such a perfect job!
Love this S2K, love it!
After all those hard work I saw on the videos. Much respect for all of those who helped completed this car. Definition of beautiful
I love the back and forth clips from creating the car to what it is now. Beautiful work!
I'm not big on the whole stance thing and I feel that you should never downgrade the performance/handling of a vehicle like the s2k; but i certainly can respect/appreciate the love and dedication and the hard work you put into your s2k. It looks beautiful and the wonderful video was just the cherry on top. To each his own, good work my friend.
Saw this video couple years ago. Came back for motivation. This damn video almost made me cry.
yeah me too!
I cried too.
This car is an absolute work of art. Fuck anyone who says you ruined it. You did far from that. You built a car with your friends in your backyard with your own two hands, and put your blood, sweat, and tears into it. You built the car for yourself, and you told a beautiful story of just that in this video. Two thumbs up man.
A lot of love went into this build, and no one can take that away from you. Cheers
I am an S2000 owner myself and I have to say JOB WELL DONE!.

Amazing job guys hard work paid off keep it up
great work and dedication. im hardly impress by many videos I come across on youtube on tuned and modified cars as 90% of them uses cheap/knockoff parts instead of buying from genuine vendors.
this truly reminds me of my 1999 gs-r integra I bought from the junk yard for 1200(rolling chassis), spent the next 10 months putting in a b18c1 w/60k+gsr tranny as the car came with no engine, tranny, fenders, hit in 3 different location including the right qtr panel, interior was missing door panels, and a ton of misc. after piece'ing everything back together with a full body kit(black widow/buddy club), x1 fender, 3p mid wing, halo w/ HID; I went on with suspension and bolted together Tokico's/Skunk2 shocks/springs/camber kit under the wheel well with a set of lovely 18'' 5zigen wheels. the car was performing WONDERFULLY until I decided to spend 8000$ on audio setup on a 2dr integra.... Pioneer touch screen , 2 JL w7 13.5'' / 2 Phoenix Gold 1200.1 / 6 Focals Component / 6 Focal Tweeters / Precision Power Inc mid amp / 25 farad high density carbon compacitor / 100amp circuit breaker / kinetic HC battery up front / 2 more kinetic hc600 battery in the rear 1 for each JL. I ended up using most of the trunk space for a massive custom enclosure for the audio setup. in the end it ended up gaining roughly 200lbs all in the damn rear... I drop the rear 1/2 inch and dropped the front 1 1/2 inch to close up the fender gap. then bolted up all the bolt ons you can imagine before giving in to a peak boost turbokit, but in reality if I had a chance to do it again I would skip the audio setup in the integra and focus on power/handling and do a high end audio setup in my RL or TL which would of made more sense. but you cant go thru life looking back being bitter; it is what it is and it was what it was. was fun and fulfilling during the time so I cant say I didnt enjoy every moment of it. now with a 5 years old son my wife wont let me hack up the car(s) any more. haha... well im glad to still see passionate folks who modify/tune cars and does it RIGHT- quality has always been a top priority for me.
I went with Milano Red, but that Valencia BMW orange is quite lovely, was actually contemplating a Corvette Sunset orange pearl at the time but things didnt fell into place.
anywho' nice work between you and Chris you guys did a great job and the filming was impeccable none the less. KUDOs brother
Great job, loving the paint
Amazing job guys! 👏🏻👏🏻
Such a beautiful and well done car!
Piękny samochód.. piękny film.. pokazuje jak wiele serca trzeba w łożyć w coś , by naprawdę pięknie wyglądało... Fajnie jest podziwiać świetne fury i właśnie takim filmem można choć troszkę przekazać innym jak wiele należy włożyć pracy w coś , by wyglądało tak jak tego chcemy
I nearly cried... at first the 'tic' was annoying, but the music combined with the camaraderie and effort put into building the car... IDK. a few times, I felt the beginnings of tears welling up. I love, LOVE the S2K. can't afford one, but it truly is my dream car and seeing this... well, it's a great video with a perfect soundtrack... after the 'tic' nonsense...
Nice video man! Great to see the journey! 😎

That made my day......and it doesn't mater at all that its not my style. Respect
y'all just can't appreciate a good build. Obviously slamming the s2k is going to have major affects on the handling and performance but I'm pretty sure he knew that the whole time during this build. Its a car he built from the ground up and its a car he put his heart into, he knows damn well what he was doing and its a damn good build because of it. Kudos on this build.
