Helmed by The King's Speech's Academy Award®-winning director, Tom Hooper, Les Misérables stars Hugh Jackman, Oscar® winner Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried.
He is an amazing Valjean. As soon as 'Look down' started I was hooked.
Hugh was incomparable! It was a unique role that can never be equaled. He did all that an actor could possibly do and did it brilliantly! Sing, emote, act, inspire. What else does it take to win the Oscars? He gotta win!
to feel the emotions of everything & he cried in many singing scenes. When you watch Hugh Jackman - you see him showing his amazing fatherly side - with Cosette. His compassionate, empathetic side with Anne Hathaway. You see him being chased by Russell Crowe many times. This was so grueling on Hugh emotionally & physicallly, yet he sang great! And acted great! I've always been a Hugh Jackman fan, but man, people need to see this "Les Miserables" film to SEE & KNOW what an incredible man (cont.)
Epic film of our time. In a class all of its own . You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cheer. A film you must see - a monument of human spirit
I'd never known Jackman could sing before I saw this... and damn he can SING!
Hugh Jackman is. I absolutely believe if people were stranded on a desert with Hugh Jackman, he would find a way to make sure everybody was alright. He would be the protector, caretaker, etc. Hugh Jackman is honestly like one of the most amazing men on the planet. He is so incredibly talented, versatile, gifted. And he absolutely deserves to win an Oscar. Yeah, the Best Actor category has Denzel Washington, Daniel Day Lewis, Bradley Cooper, & Joaquin Phoenix nominated along with Hugh, (cont.)
AND I'M JAVERT
Inspector Javert You....you murdered Fantine
I had reservations about Jackman as Valjean myself, but his raw emotion and, surprisingly pleasant voice have changed my mind. Also, just because you're not a Tenor 1 does not mean you're not a Tenor; his Tenor notes are far more natural than his Baritone ones, and the high notes he's seen belting here are high for even many fellow Tenors like myself (it took me nearly two years of working on my voice to hit Valjean's hardest notes, and I'm not a Baritone). Tenor 2 pride! ^_^
This movie just made me LOVE Hugh Jackman, oh god, I was so emotional *that inspiring feeling* when he sang Who am I
I loved him singing “Suddenly” a very soft and light voice. Absolutely spectacular!!!
He freaked me out he was so good. I had to rewatch alot of his scenes.
Awesome movie! Hugh Jackman was so great as were all of the cast! Music was amazing!
After seeing Hugh Jackman performance and emotional depth in the Fountain, I have zero doubt he will deliver Jean Valjean right off the book and into our hearts
THIS is how musicals should be! Saw it and will see it again.. and again .. and again.
I agree. Hugh Jackman truly deserves to win an Oscar for his role as Jean Valjean in "Les Miserables". You can see how Hugh poured all of his soul, emotions, energy, strength - physical, mental, & emotional into his role. He lost weight for this film. He had to physically carry many people - physically & emotionally. Then he had to act & sing & cry. If Academy voters went with their heart & emotions instead of brain - then Oscar would go to Hugh because he was the heart of "Les Miserables".
I loved his performance... I think he totally deserves the Oscar this year :)
He is seriously my hero. I genuinely believe he is he most talented man on this planet.
If you watch all the way to the end of the whole clip, he does that huge high note, you need to know the difference between a movie and a stage performance. the "breathless sigh was reminding himself on his own who he really is and what he has to do, then he does that huge belting high note in front of all the people when he arrives at the court
Hugh Jackman is so amazing. He truly deserves to win an Oscar for this.
I think Jackman is probably the best actor today. He has such a range, and is so sincre about his performances.
bet when he was wolverine he didnt think he was going to be a main part in les mis haha
i didn't know what ot expect from Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, but OMG, i must say i have watched the film 4 times literally and i haven't got bored yet, his character is fantastic, can feel his emotion and his voice is awesome, if you haven't seen it guys you have to.
HE DESERVES THE OSCAR! The performance couldn't have been better by anyone!!
No one could have played this part better, that is for sure.
Hugh Jackman is a far better actor all around than he has previously shown us on screen. His stage work has won numerous awards. I think you're gonna be pleasantly surprised.
I'm simply speechless with his performance. It was AMAZING! He deserves an Oscar.
You've SEEN it? Oh...how amazing!! I'm just counting hours, I think. I even went to 'cafe press' and bought a shirt with 24601 on the front. I can't wait to wear it 'out' and see who knows what it means.
Tell me Hugh is phenomenal. Tell me he's perfect in the role. When I heard there was going to be a film, I didn't really think about the other roles. I just thought "It has to be Hugh. It has to be." He's just...not like anyone else.
I agree. He was very dedicated to the role. He really did it justice, it was a wonderful film, in my opinion!
I don't have adequate words to praise this movie or the performances, particularly Hugh's performance, but the others as well.
Whoa... Hugh can play an Elvis Presley-like pengiun with a gruff singing voice, a super human being that have a rugged personality and shed claws from his knuckles, voice a rat that have a proper yet wimpish manner, a rabbit with a arrogent yet funny persona, and now a frenchmen prisoner that have turn to an honest life... Hugh, you never cease to amaze anyone. :D
I love this movie! Hugh Jackman is the man!
His preparation really shows through his singing and acting in the movie. He was absolutely amazing!
so excited to hear him sing 'bring him home'
he truly deserves to win the best actor oscar for this role. it was absolutely breathtaking and I feel that the character is a real person. just stunning.
Day-Lewis just got some Oscar competition coming his way!! Hugh is awesome in this movie!!
Woahhhhh dang...Hugh is amaaazzziiiinnngg! I'm so anxious for this movie. I've been waiting a long time.
There are no words to describe this perfect man!!
My excitement for this is making me cry. Congratulations.
Hugh truly is a natural leader! Such an impressive, wonderful guy - AND, his life is scandal-free, hurra!!!
Hugh Jackman is no stranger to singing on stage. He has won numerous awards for his roles on stage, in musicals.
His acting is one of a kind!!!!
HUGH JACKMAN is amazing. beyond words! Such a kind, handsome gentleman!
I'm so glad they showed this!! While I don't adore his voice, I'm glad that he can hit the notes nicely (that 24601 was GREAT!).
Hugh is one of the best actors and entertainers in my opinion. He seems perfect as Valjean
Just seen the movie. The performances of all actors were incredible. Especially Hugh. He has excelled so much and now is among my favourite actors. Right between Pacino and Day Lewis. One can say anything about the movie but no one can take away the breathtaking acting that has been performed.
Hands down the best actor this year
Yes, Hugh Jackman did a great job. :-) Overall, besides being a great actor, singer, & entertainer, I like the fact that he's a nice, decent, classy man. Example: At the SAG Awards, he was smiling & being happy even though he didn't win a SAG Award. Just seeing Hugh Jackman smile & being in a good, happy, festive mood MADE me smile. Hugh Jackman is the type of guy, females & males want to hang out with for the entire day & never be bored with him! Hugh's overall a great human being. :-)
Hugh Jackman must win the Oscar for Best Actor for this movie. He was incredible. Made me a little bit chocked up with his role.
Love the shot of Colm and Hugh .... The original "passing the baton" to the new, giving him direction -- But literally and figuratively! Basically love the little nods the film gives to the Original Cast -- Colm, Frances Ruffelle ...
This dude has to win an Oscar for this. He was so damn good.
Hugh Jackson is so talented and I love this movie. I hope I get this movie for my birthday!
I saw this the other day! Gosh it was sooooo amazing! I cried the very first note played in the movie :D
I expected the belt at the end but it still sent chills down my spine! Can't wait!
for me he is already a winner! congratulations in advance hugh!
Just barely watched it. Hugh is fantastic. Moved me to tears at times. And Russell Crowe surprised me! I had heard so many people tear apart Russell for his singing, and the Valjean-Javert featurette made me nervous. His "Stars" was very moving. He fit the part. The movie is best enjoyed with an open and understanding mind for the different changes from the show. It's different, but amazing!
YES!!!! HE CAN DO THAT "24601" NOTE LIKE A BOSS!!!!
Everyone in this entire film deserves a big award. Amazing film!
Watched this movie 2 times in 2 days. One word, amazing! First musical movie I cried to. It somehow makes the "sound of music" seems so yesterday.
His dedication is unbelievable, admirable, crazy and just...I feel so inspired. Gahh.
More awesome than any name I have ever heard in my entire life.
this movie was epic, hugh jackman is soooo good
I have to be honest, I was one of those people who were like ''Hugh Jackman, seriously?'' but there is no way commitment like this won't show off. I have yet to see the film, but from what I've seen in featurettes and clips so far.... I'm surprised and happy that he is so dedicated and SO GOOD. Us hardcore fans need to see the film more as a unitary thing rather than to compare it to the 25th anniversary, for instance. It's not gonna be like the stage version, we need to get over that.
Hugh Jackman was brilliant in this film in so many ways. A true triple threat with his vocal strength, ability to act and physical ability to brave the role, pouring into the audience a realism to believe he is Jean Valjean. Wonderful, tearful ending,"To See The Face of God."
He should win an Oscar for this and it is so nice to watch a well made musical again.
I completely understand that every man nominated for Best Actor did a fantastic job in their role but I still believe Hugh Jackman deserved.
Hugh was Jean himself and no one else. a great actor did a great job :)
I was able to go to a sneak preview of the film on the 18th. I was not even a huge fan of the play/film, but I enjoyed it very much. Hugh did an amazing job. Whew, there were some crazy HIGH notes!...for just about every character! At around 2 hrs and 45 mins, there's still a lot left out of this version, so some die-hard fans may not like that, but if they left everything in, I'd still be there!!!
The man did an excellent job.
geesh Hugh..If u don't get an Oscar I will be in absolute shock. Well done mate! Good on u for all the work u have done to come to this moment in your career and ty ty ty for sharing it with the world. I was mesmerised by your performance especially in the close ups, where I could see and feel every emotion, every muscle movement, every tiny detail of expression in your face. Ty for being who u are artistically, ty for a riveting performance. loved it! well done!
He did great in this movie!!!
God, I love this guy. I really do. He's perfect to me. Perfect.
I AM SO EXCITED.
The problem is, that for many people Hugh is just Wolverine, from the X-Men movies, however he has a very long running Broadway carrer and he is a very good singer, not just an actor!
He proved me that, when he hosted the Oscar! That opening number, with Anne was very great and funny!
oh my gosh, was anyone else not expecting Colm Wilkinson to sound like that? he's so adorable.
'Its not 'JUST' a musical it's a spiritually allegorical master piece'. You're absolutely right, sooo very deep, so very awesome, masterful, lifechanging, I only hope that Oscar voters don't automatically go with Lewis because he is playing an American hero but go with an actor's actor, ie Jackman!
I agree! He was awesome
faaamrb, I COMPLETELY agree with you! Hugh Jackman, 100 percent deserves to win an Oscar for this performance. Hugh Jackman had to carry this film, from beginning to end with his Jean Valjean character. He lost weight for this film, yet had to be strong & physically in shape to physically carry Cosette and also carry Marius's body through the sewers. He had to lift that flag pole & cart. Not only was it physically grueling for Hugh, but he had to sing A LOT throughout the film, & he had (cont.)
Hugh Jackman can sing and act. He got big because of his stage performances
He knows. He's been in multiple musicals. I think he's even won a Tony for one.
Proud to be from the same region in which Hugh grew up :')
All performances were so exceptional! Hugh Jackman's was breathtaking! Russel Crow may indeed not be a great singer, but acting-wise, he did deliver a beautifully human Javert...
he is amazing !!
I AM SO INCREDIBLY EXCITED!!! I WANTED TO SEE IT OPENING NIGHT, BUT NO THEATER NEAR ME IS SHOWING IT UNTIL 12 OR SO CHRISTMAS DAY!!!! :(
THANK YOU!
BUT Daniel Day Lewis AND Denzel Washington have already won Oscars. People are buzzing about Bradley Cooper, but honestly, Hugh Jackman had to transform THE MOST physically & emotionally for this "Les Miserables" film & also had to cry a lot, carry the weight often, & sing a lot. Hugh Jackman did a HELL of a lot in this film. You can see in Hugh's actions & through his soulful eyes how invested he was in "Les Miserables". You see the total man, father, humanitarian Hugh is through this film.
This movie was amazing It took my breath away these people are so very talented! Great job guys! I loved t so much!!
Hugh will be AMAZNG! But its good to see Colm there too!
Everyone's hating on russel Crowe, I thought he was amazing
Seriously, if Hugh Jackman doesn't get at least an Oscar nomination for this, I will start a riot.
how awesome is it that Colm Wilkinson is the bishop... I bet so many people recognize him right away.
Goosebumps!!!
he has a pub voice but me managed to humanise the character whom you would otherwise think were lifeless, stern and merciless
you can almost empathise with him that he's actually not the antagonist but just trying to do his job and seek the same kind of redemption that jean valjean was seeking
one word -AWESOME!!!
You know what? Let's just agree to disagree. You don't like Taylor Swift? Fine with me. Let's just talk about the awesomeness of Les Miserables without dragging other topics around here.
I think the key thing with the singing is that it is a musical but it isnt an opera, the people were playing characters, they had to be able to sing and sing well, hold a tune, reach notes etc, but I think the whole point was not to sound 'magnificent' or 'opulent' but to sound like a real person, the real character.
He won a Golden Globe, so did Anne Hathaway, plus this got movie of the year!
uggghh I cant believe its airing in peru on march 28th! I shouldnt have to wait that long for such an amazing movie, its not fair
Glad to hear that :) I'm seeing it when it premieres in Sweden next Friday, sooooo exited :DD
Great job. I was amazed by his acting.
Daniel Day Lewis gets the Oscar. He deserves it because he worked hard in his role. But at the same time, Hugh Jackman deserves one, too. It's very heartbreaking because I honestly feel Hugh did an amazing, incredible job with his Jean Valjean role. Hopefully, someday, we will live to see the day Hugh Jackman wins an Oscar Award. I hope Hugh gets more great roles that exercise his range & depth in performance & acting. Have a nice day & week, Zeta825. :-)
I can't wait till christmas just because that's when I'm seeing the movie!
Exactly! Hugh was absolutely INCREDIBLE!! Bradley Cooper did a pretty good job too and I was rooting for him! But after seeing Les mis, I'm Hugh Jackman All the way! He made the movie even more beautiful than it already is! (:
