ROTOBRUSH 2 is here! And it's better than ever.
ua-cam.com/video/1nYs9RjxiFk/v-deo.html
Dear lord… I'm not motion designer, I'm doing video for fun and I just learnt about RotoBrush today and it's blowing my mind. I was still using the pen tool and edit path for each frame. I feel so dumb :(
Ha nah it's all good.
Same 😂
same 😭
haha
Same lmao
This is by far one of the best and simplest to follow tutorials for the RotoBrush I have seen. More than earned a subscribe for this alone. Now all I need is a workflow tutorial and I'll save hours of work. I'd like to post what this helped with but it's a commission for a Uni so I don't have permission to make public.
I second that!
3 years late to the party, but I third this!
I neglected this tool for so long because every tutorial is half and hour or longer, thanks for keeping it nice and short.
Cool man, glad to hear it worked for you.
wow you explain things so well! Some guys just take for granted that we all know what they know and they skip necessary detail! Thanx a million! Will be checking out all your other tuts!!
Thanks Paul! Glad you like the teaching style.
Your video is clear, didactic and very well explained! Great Thanks from Belgium.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the kind words.
Really appreciate your calm and cool approach.
I appreciate that! Thanks for the nice comment.
thank you so much. you are the only one that created a video that can be followed
Ha okay cool glad to hear that it's good.
I’ve seen a good amount of tutorials on roto brushing and you’ve explained it the best. Thank you, you made this intimating task easier for me.
Thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad you liked the video!
The rotobrush saves SO much time. It’s way faster than manually masking things frame-by-frame in sony vegas.
Yeah it's gangster
Thank you for sharing great tips.
Amazing tutorial
Thanks!
best guide I've seen on the roto tool! thank you, super useful and clear
You're welcome. Thank you for watching.

Dude, thank you for this. This is the best video on UA-cam on the topic, the others drove me nuts. Subscribed!
Thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Damn, I've been away from Roto and AE for a while, and had been doign all my masks by hand with curves. This would've saved so much time!
Thanks very much for a clear explanation!
So glad to hear that!
Thanks!
Fantastic tutorial, keep up the great videos!
Very well done tutorial. Thank you for making it so easy to follow along with.
Good basic knowledge to get started on this

Thanks, Yoshi.
The training was great The description was very complete thank you
Thanks for watching.
As an AE newbie, (as 1/2/19), I have new words to ponder like "Rotoscope", Mocha Pro", etc., so I really appreciate good, straightforward tutorials such as yours. Thanks, man, A new subscriber.
Thanks, Lance. I plan on creating some Mocha tutorials in the near future, so hopefully we'll both understand how to use that plugin soon. :)
@@BooneLovesVideo We'll be watching!!!
Thank you so much! I had a very bug issue but now know how to solve it

Great video man, very useful insight
Thanks Glen.
awesome explanation
Great help, clear, good speed and depth - thanks!
Thank you for watching!
Man Alive, finally a decent tutorial on Roto Brush. Thinking of thew workspace almost like Mocha (tracking from a frame forwards and backwards) and the tool like Quick Selection in Photoshop makes total sense - thanks man. Liked and Subscribed!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the sub.
OK I'm going to go right ahead and give you the prestigious "Finest thing since sliced bread" award for this tutorial. Nice work chief !
I'm honored for this prestigious award.
First I'd like to thank my parents and my wife. They've supported me all throughout this tutorial making journey....
@@BooneLovesVideo - yes Boone I think you've realised the significance of this award and how it can help you achieve your dreams lol ! I'm going to check out the rest of your vids now.
your video helps a lot. Is there a chance you explain in another video how to make multiple base frames for rotoscoping longer videos? You mentioned it at 4.05 minute and I dont seem to be able to find how to do it on youtube. Thanks a lot
aaah maaaaan what a wonderful a quick lesson!!!! I've learn't so much and I'M GONNA BE USING THIS A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS A MILLION YOU'RE A TRUE STAR! GOD BLESS YA!!!
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed the video.
this is such a great tutorial. thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome tutorial! Thanks for sharing! I tried the track matte in Premiere and it sucked so I'll give this a go next time. Now I just need a laptop that can handle After Effects work.
Thanks for watching! And yeah man, After Effects is the best.
i use after effects on a intel i3 laptop with integrated graphics and it works smoothly
Exelent tutorial! No bullshit, just the essence! Love it! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it. And thanks for the kind words.
Thank you, Best Tutorial Ever ... helped me with a work project SO much. :D
Glad it helped!
for the window users who can not find how to adjust *size of brush*
Left mouse button + ctrl(hold). and drag up and down or left and right
awesome teaching, awesome tutorial , keep this up man. now imma use roto brush more often. thanks man.
You're welcome! Thank you for watching.
That's an easy simple and perfect tutorial. Thanks.
You're welcome. Thanks for the kind feedback.
Thank you for the video ! saved me a huge chunk of time on my h.w and great voice ! love your voice !
Awesome! Glad to hear that. And thanks. Some folks hate my voice. :)
Thanks for making this tutorial. Very easy to understand. :)
Glad it was helpful!
Lots of love bro
Whoa! So it turns out that Rotoscoping wasn't actually what I needed, but that was AWESOME! Can't wait to find a way to use this! Now off to find a way to "draw" on video (create an animation overlay of some sort, I guess?) Thanks!
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for the nice comment.
thank God this exists thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Great job! Love your teaching style!
Thanks for that.
Only a couple of days into learning After Effects, but so glad I stumbled across this! Oh, the time I will save, and for that, I thank you! Also, just for the record, I think you're very cute. Normally don't say stuff like that on UA-cam, but figured you could always use a compliment after you mentioned the awkwardness of the clip (which I didn't think at all). Great job! I think I'll go ahead and subscribe.
Thank you for watching! And thanks for the compliment. :)
Great tutorial, thx!
Glad it was helpful!
Nice one, Boone!
(Off topic though, may I suggest ditching the Beats headphones and getting a pro brand:)
Thanks. Haha, good advice! I'll do it.
After MUCH testing, the Audio Technica ATH-M50x is my favourite for accuracy and design!
Exactly what I needed to know. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Great stuff, can't wait to try it! :) I subbed, waiting for more great tips👊
Thanks Patrik!
Great tutorial, helped me a lot. Thanks man!
Thank you for watching!
This was suuuper helpful thank you so so much!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Great tutorial, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching.
Great video, thanks! :) One thing though.. At 4:24 you talk about "page up" and "page down". What if I don't have those buttons? :/ Simply pressing "up" or "down" wont work...
Excellent question. Pressing Up and Down will actually move your layer around, so don't do that!
If you're on a Mac use Cmd + Right/Left.
If you're on a PC use Ctrl + Right/Left.
Thanks for the quick answer! :D Have a great weekend! 👍
Nice and smooth on the tutorial and I dig you did some CC and blur at the end. Got me thinking for sure since I do that all the time in Photoshop. I still need to figure out how to create multiple base/key frames. Also use that refine brush tool sparingly was in another tutorial.
Thanks!
Very good tutorial for me as a beginner, thanks man..
Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you liked it. Did you roto something I can see?
@@BooneLovesVideo Yes i did the roto roughly, i will share you later when i did something professionally like you.. :)
brilliant video, was very helpful! Many thanks!!
Great to hear! Thanks for the kind comment.
Really awesome!!!
Agreed! Have you seen the new Roto Brush 2?
ua-cam.com/video/1nYs9RjxiFk/v-deo.html
Great video. So if you shoot with a higher shutter speed for more detail for a better mask, what of the many ways to add back motion blur do you use?
This is so helpful! Thanks man!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching.
Perfect tutorial. Thank you
Thanks for watching.
Clear and concise..cheers
thanks! very clear explanation.
Thank you for watching, and thanks for the kind words.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thanks, really cool tutorial!
Thank you for watching, and I appreciate the feedback.
Thank you for uploading. It's long rendering using this... So I render it in png's and then I will make a proxy.
How do you do that ? Will be helpful if share plz
Nice tutorial. Thanks. I'll be watching you :-)
Thanks for the kind words. And thanks for watching.
Very helpful.
Glad to hear!
ahh thank you so much for this! i was going insane from manually masking frame-by-frame lol
You're welcome, and glad it saved your sanity.
Really liked ur explanation, but when I select the roto brush then click twice on my video it's says that their is a frame mismatch, is their any fix for this?
Sorry, I have no idea. The rotobrush can be finicky like that sometimes.
Thank you! Great tutorial!
Thanks for the nice comment. It is much appreciated.
Thanks for the tutorial
You're welcome!
hey man, this is really helpful, thanks!
Thanks for the kind words!
Do you have to key-frame when using the rotobrush like you would with the pen tool?
Not exactly.
Great tutorial man! Can i ask you what are the specs of your computer? I’m trying to do rotoscoping on a MacBook pro with 16gb of ram but it’s taking ages!
I have the same setup. A Mid-2014 refurbed Macbook Pro.
Outstanding sir!!! thank you!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the tutorial. You are a natural. Listen, I've done a lot of this kind of "rotoscoping" but I was looking for more of a "Scanner Darkly" type of true rotoscoped animation. Not sure how to use this process to create animation effect ( btw I've done that drawn style of animation in Adobe Animate but I'm looking for a way that has a little bit of machine intelligence working with me). I don't feel like investing in more software (i.e. Artist Studio).
You might be able to find a plugin on Videohive or AEScripts and Plugins.
Didn't know about "Scanner Darkly" before I saw you comment!
What a find!
Thank you!
Thanks dude very helpful shit. Got me subbed.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy future videos as well.
THANKKK YOUUUU!!!!!
Did you check out the new version!
ua-cam.com/video/1nYs9RjxiFk/v-deo.html
Excellent! Thanks!
You're welcome!
great toturial but i can't find that freeze button idk why gonna watch part 2 hope find it
Did part 2 help?
best loved it
Thanks
Sir, in my case, the brush selects the entire frame instead of selecting the image. how to fix it.
God damn, thank you
Great video, thnx.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching.
thanks for tutorial dear
Thank you for watching!
Why the hell does no other tutorial for this mention the refine edge tool!? Very helpful. Thank you very much.
Oh for real? Well glad to hear this was helpful. Thanks for the kind words.
thx man so nice and useful
Thanks!
When I double click the layer not showing up.Can you help or tell me what I’m doing wrong?
Awesome thanks mate
How did you:
1: Resize the circle you are marking it with? You forgot to add that part.
2: Move the video with that hand? And can you do the same in photoshop? If so, what's the key for that?
3: Duplicate layer
Also, awesome tutorial! I was mid rotobrushing myself, then i completely forgot how i finished off the rotobrushing for throwing it in photoshop (making transparent gifs)
1. 1:40
2. Hold spacebar, click and drag.
3. Cmd (Ctrl) D
And thank you for the kind words.
Lol thanks for the tutorial, I can't believe I used to manually extract all my frames and individually isolate them one after another in photoshop
Ha sounds like a lot of work... You're very welcome!
