Obvious is one of the most under-rated Blink songs ever IMO

In my opinion he usually is unless he's wasted.
Fun fact. This is blink's best show of the reunion. They played everything great (Tom is off vocally, but it okay) and had so many jokes. It was like watching the blink everyone fell in love with (Mark Tom an Travis show worthy). And to top it off, at the beginning of Dammit, Tom screams, "take your pants off!"and mark sings during the bridge "Wannabe". Of course virgin mobile were too stupid to film the whole concert...
Gabe Suarez Tom is great regardless and all the emotion that the whole band shows is perfect.

Yeah, that was actually a brief topic of discussion on the AVA Movement forum back in '09 (back when there was some gossip over whether he was balding and/or getting fat). We had all gotten used to when he cut his hair short in '08, and he actually made a comment on Modlife at one point about how he was growing it out to be more punk (I think those video chats he did were called Modblasts or something like that?)

Damn I don't give a shit what anyone else says. I know Tom isn't great live (and really never was) but I think he kicked ass in this performance. He gave a good effort and pushed super hard on the choruses. I can appreciate his vigor.
Danny Adams he was pretty decent up until he got deep into his painkiller habit/got plastered before every single show.
I don't mind if i'm getting old, but it's forbidden for tom, he needs to be young forever. For us.
He was sober there.. and this was during his very Drunk period... That's why he sounds good and why he sobered up in 2013. to sound good :)
I don't see how this is any worse then how they played this song back in 2003. Tom's vocals have always been bad live.
Jacob Craddock most of the complaining comes from new blink fans who dont know that tom always sounded bad. in fact he sounds so much better now than before the first breakup

Alright so for those wondering, that guitar looks different because tom needed a baritone 335 with his specs, but Gibson wouldn't do it. So tom went to a guy that handbuilds oddball guitars, long story short that's the only known baritone es335 in existence. He keeps it in drop c# and uses it to play obvious and Adams song

so u dont think that the fact travis was very close to dying was a part of it, the fact they were good friends for the best part of there lives. they sorted things out and now are friends agian if you ever have a friend as good as they are you would understand.

i think Tom is trying to incorporate his angel and airwaves crap into blink. Which is not cool, I think he could still sound like he used to if he just tried, hell, mark hasn't changed. Tom talks the same...he's just singing different...for some reason. Love the band all the same :3
@roygardner1 im pretty sure its not his gibson, i maybe wrong and yeah but playing live you need some balls through your amp even though it goes through the PA also he always sounded cooler with his mesa thats only my opinion though :)

I used to say that Tom voice has turn bad but since I really discovered AvA I think he sing better in AvA than in blink so I'm glad he keeps his AvA voice in live.
@greenday10fan Its a Baratto ;) custom for this low tuning, the gibson cant handle the tuning this low. I tried it and it failed with my gibson xD!

@Gdayguy36 This has been addressed before. Tom's voice actually physically changed. He cannot sing the same way he used to. His voice began changing in 2002 when he injured his back and began taking painkillers and continued to change until ~2007. You can already hear obvious differences in his voice if you compare the blink's STFTK performance on Leno versus their later performance of it on Kimmel.
first of, by u sayin ur 27 just proves jack shit. u coulda gotten into blink 2 years ago when you were barly hitting puberty
second of, we all have different preferred genres i just happen to be into punk rock and blink was a lot faster more energetic and fun with their older material (for example when scott was still around) which i liked better than their recent stuff. u must be into the whole slow emotional genre maybe thats why u prefer theyre new material.
how about, everyone that moans about tom... try breaking your back, going on a coruce of pain killers that make u feel seek and stressed out, end up being able to sing again, but a few years singing quite diferently (hes older and singing a diferent syle) then also run around a stage, ply guitar and sing perfectly... could you do that? its hard to sing live at the best of times! but when uve had all that shit happen to you, you cant blame him!
I ordered one of those LOVE shirts, and alot of other shirts from loserkids. When I received my package 3 of the 5 shirts I ordered including the LOVE shirt we're not included in the package. I send them an e-mail about it but haven't heard from them every since, it has been a week. I think it's rather poor how I am being treated as a customer... ah well, keep on waiting for that LOVE shirt.
he sounded much better Live in September in the bay area than he does in this video - maybe an off day -also- mic'ing has a lot to do with how well a band sounds in a live recording --in the audience or FOH the live vocal audio may have sounded better. On the other hand they may do more post-processing live and this audio track is may be fed right off the main mix prior to effects insert for this video.
Thomas Matthew DeLonge has an amazing voice, would people please stop whinging about his voice sounding 'really bad' i think he sounds ten times better now than he did ten years ago, he's grown so much as a musician and as a person. hes matured, obviously his voice isnt gonna sound like a 16 year old when hes 34 ffs. thankyou. blink-182 fuckin rule btw:D

some people weren't taking Blink serious enough. so they thought they would make an album about their lives and when they were married and each had a kid.
also, you try singing in a punk way for 15 years, than going to AVA for 5 years than back to punk. it's hard to switch back. plus he got older.
no he has a different guitar for the tuning and its not his gibson, or epiphone for that matter. its a look alike so it dont look different from the show and the headstock is different cuz it looks aggresive and probably helps the roadies distinguissh it from the other ones back there
the guitar Tom is using for the song Obvious is a custom Baratto guitar, he used to use a custom Fender Toronado/Jazzmaster. but do to his back injury a few years ago he now uses Gibson's and apparently Baratto's guitars because they are a lighter guitar and better for his back.
Why don't they do this on their Honda Civic Tour set? Would be awesome!

Its baritone,n different from the brown one. The neck is bigger to make the guitar able to play in a lower tune,and with a baritone guitar the low tune you can get is impossible to get with a regular one. I dont think the pick up's different but it could be
its in C# standard which is drop B but the actual low B is a C# so you can do normal power chords.

@TheBeeges no, that's not the reason, he switched to Gibson because he wanted to go back to his roots. Tom used Gibson Les Paul during the first few years of blink 182, then he started to use Fender after dude ranch came out

You're right about it being C# Standard, but what you've described isn't correct. It's tuned one and a half whole steps down on all strings. that means instead of eadgbe, it's c#, f#, b, e, g#, c#
