- We stumble upon a hidden oasis while touring the outback just north of Coolgardie. You'll also see a few abandoned mines and an epic pork roast cooked up at the end of the day.
We have a convoy of eight vehicles including a Mercedes Sprinter 4x4 van, 200 series landcruiser, Isuzu Dmax and Nissan GQ Patrol. This is outback australian adventure at it's best, and an overlanding journey on many peoples bucket list.

This is the first of DAILY VIDEOS! where we are camping near an abandoned pub after the drive from Perth to Coolgardie. Over the course of a week you will see 7 videos exploring the Goldfields region of Western Australia. There will be ghost towns, gold mining, prospecting, bush camping and outback exploring all along the way.
I know what it's like needing to de-stress and relax. After suffering PTSD for several years I find getting out fishing or out bush helps me more than anything. Also know what it's like to stress planning trips and things only to have your car pack it in just before leaving. Had one weekend planned and my front diff went on the way out for the trip. Turn around, come hone and cancel. Really sucked.
Sad to hear about the Patrol.... I guess the executives were more worried about their gifts of Cartier watches and huge bonuses than getting a small part for a Patrol to Perth....
Haha savage
Fark beat me to it 😂
terrific video :) and I loved Jake's Gollum impression :) I'll see ya's in a couple of weeks at the 4wd show, wearing my "Intents" merch :) Cheers, Don (Dons Shed and Xplor Overland)
Aqua man meets Tarzan 😂
The Goldfields are a fascinating area to explore. We are hanging out to get back out there (eventually). Aust Post really sucks at the moment, I know someone who had a parcel come from China only to be sent to Singapore after arriving in Perth and then it eventually found its way back to Perth again. Shockingly bad service. Guess all those executives must be working extra hard for their rewards... On the historic side regarding the Aboriginal attack - water would have been one reason but parties consisting of only men were often regarded as war parties and this may have been the reason a number of different explorers found themselves under attack with no prior warning. Loved watching the last bit with everyone around the campfire. That is something we tend to miss on our expeditions as we usually are on our own.
That's a really interesting consideration with the war party thing. I'd never thought of that. Yeah it's nice to go just one or two people and experience the quiet and relaxation, but also nice to mix it up with the group dynamic sometimes too 🙂
I've missed these trip videos, you've got some skills mate.
Great vid. Got a link to old mates shirt? I would like to get one.
Yeah www.trademutt.com/shirts bloody good cause 🙂
@@Alex.G ordered. Will go nicely with my intents shirt.
Awesome series mate keen for more
Wow man I spent few years working at daveyhurst mine. That proces plant has been moved 3 times from 3 different mines. The cemetery has some crazy stories of what happened to the local miners back in the day. Ularring rock has a crazy history the aboriginals they incountered first were friendly but because alarmed after few days at the amount of water the camels were drinking so they attacked them to stop them using up all their water. About half way between ularing rock and turn of to bullfinch on the left hand side there is an abandoned mine with fresh water in the pit you can swim in.
We had the cemetery on our list but couldn't seem to find it 🙁 so I'm a little bit sadder now that I know it holds epic stories haha
@@Alex.G yeah its tucked away on the left hand side of the road down about 100 metres the signs aren't that great going to it
I also reckon that short clip of Jake emerging from the water might have been from that very same mine you're talking about 😁
Loving the daily vlog style presentation mate. Looking like a great trip too. Looking forward to the rest of it.
Hi I watch both your channels I'm subscribed to you both.. Nice video again, very interesting way to cook a roast. I've done some camp oven cooking vids just got into creating videos please take time to have a look,... That would be great.
Tomorrow we the Delica club Perth will heading out down south tomorrow on the 21 for a Saturday night camp out at Buffalo Beach :)..
You might see a convoy of delica 4wd vans tomorrow lol
Nice pieces (1 & 2). Looking forward to the rest of them :)
Had you ordered a Cartier watch......
😂
I've got a postie mate and spoken to a few couriers that pop into work and those guys are doing it tough at the moment. But they shouldn't promise if they can't deliver, you could have got one else where.
Alex, thoughts on the MU-X as a light/medium duty 4wd? thinking of one for taking the family camping off the beaten track
I reckon it's a pretty solid vehicle! Plenty of power (coming from a ZD30 Patrol owner), known for their reliability, comfortable and quiet enough. Good on fuel. It's only done very light 4wding so far, but goes well on everything in these videos and is good on the sand.
Nice message. Honest adventure. Thanks guys
Great vid mate and educational about places in our great state cheers
Top stuff alex👍👍
Is that your "giiirlfriend"
Sister
Another great watch Alex, bugger about the Patrol mate. I have had mine 13 years and it has taken us all over the place. We spent 3 months in WA and can’t wait to get back. Auspost....mmmm it had taken over a week for me to receive a new provent filter from NSW to Vic! Cheers
Express post .... 10 days later due to corona virus & all those gold watches hahah...., shame mate, but better in the driveway than out on a trip, those corrugations sounded shit.
Yeah absolutely, pretty happy that I had a backup vehicle option and didn't have to cancel a long planned trip 😁 the MUX did the job just fine 👌
Hi Alex. I was out at Davyhurst on Wednesday and managed to get an aerial shot of Davyhurst. It provides a really good perspective of the layout of the pub. :-)
Awesome! It's pretty amazing what you can pick up from an aerial perspective hey
For some reason, youtube has recommended and auto played me this series from last episode backwards. Its been fun so far. Can't wait to finally see how it all began. 😉
😂 that's bloody weird
Can somebody join me on this comment feed...hello... anybody...
I'm here! 😁
Me too
Gollum was awesome to see
So juicy sweet. So good to eat.
@@jakethomasgarner1886 😍😂😂
No good about the patrol Alex, still good to see you out and about. Cheers Steve
Great stuff Alex. And the crew the story telling I keep watching
Cheers Dominic, appreciate that mate
But of a bugger about the sensor for the Patrol... my bet is on the part arriving on your doorstep the afternoon of the day you left.
Yeah that was so frustrating! We left on the Friday and I think it was Monday I got the message to say they attempted to deliver it.
When we first went to Rowles many years ago we could drive out to the boiler. Crazy to see how much it changes.
Yeah! It's been so different every time I go.
Bad luck not being able to take the Patrol after putting in all the work. My daughter and I travelled the Holland track a few weeks back, my Ranger had been throwing up all sorts of errors and I was waiting on a part that didn’t arrive in time. I decided to go anyway, it spat errors at me all the way to Coolgardie but once we hit the dirt it behaved itself! Not one error the whole trip on the track and home!
Love these videos, keep them coming.
My 06 y61 had the same issue, although only happened once changing gears, new accelerator pedal all good!
Sorry to hear about your patrol, very disappointing. Luckily you had a ride. The campfire chat is interesting.
Really enjoying these Alex keep them coming 👍
Cheers Paul still plenty left in the pipeline 😁
Why didn’t you buy local. Or if unavailable grab a second hand one from the wreckers to get you on the road?
Long story short, I checked local (Nissan, Repco, supercheap, veale) and they will only sell you the whole pedal assembly with sensor attached for $900 odd 🤮 so of course the wrecker wanted half that which is still too much considering it's quite common for these to fail. I paid $95 from Sydney for just the sensor
@@Alex.G Hey you really are a good bloke. You didn't have to explain any of that. You are right about the wreckers how's they screw the shit out of you. I wish I had the bits you needed I woulda dropped them off. You do great stuff you should keep following through. I remember when you started and ronny started. You were the one with the personality and camera face. If ya ever want some company to tag along in aPatrol Id be stoked. Get back into it cause you really could Knock it out Big Wheels:)
Love these videos. Informative as usual. Love the end with sitting around sharing best bits of the day. 👍
Aus post. I’d run out of fingers and toes if I had to count how many times they have fked it up. Sorry to hear about the patrol. Hope the stress fades mate 👍
Great message from Taylor. The more we talk about mental health the better.
Absolutely agree. I've had struggled over the years and learned a lot about the power of speaking up
@@Alex.G yeah mate, currently recovering from mental illness myself. As hard as it feels to speak up sometimes it’s really the best thing to do.
you sld have been a play school presenter
Missed my calling hey!
Really enjoying the current tour great work with the swag review as well bringing some focus to mental health . Feel the frustration with the car part and not being able to take your rig on this epic adventure may the beer stay cold and flies be few 😁
Aus post m8 not good could be worse travelling companion bit of all right m8 some you win some you lose
Hello brother is any change i can map for track..
Great content Alex. Cheers mate. How's the patrol going now ?
Thanks glad you're enjoying it 🙂 yeah she's going good now, new throttle position sensor fixed it right up. Think I've got some bad body mounts in the back that need changing now
@@Alex.G mate do you have anymore content on your patrol. I also have a 2004 gu patrol and love your videos on maintenance and accessories. Cheers mate. Btw is that Jake at sca ? Walked in and went to tell him how good both of your content is and he gone out back
I don't have anything I've shot on the patrol right now, but I definitely need to shoot some more, so they will show up 👍 and yeah, it is Jake you saw 🙂
What do you do for work... for your 9-5 job? 😊
Good camp fire with mates
I knew the story of Ularing Rock, visited there back about 1995 over Xmas period, f...in hot! BTW, Giles is buried in Coolgardie Cemetery.
It's fairly remote country. Bumped into only one person on that trip out that way, he appeared shocked at my presence.
I imagine it would have been bloody remote out there in 1995 and not so much of a tourist destination. And especially that time of year 😄
