Why Am I SO ANGRY At this riverside camp!?

- It's a pleasant overnight riverside camp. But why am I so angry!? Despite a few minutes of range, this is a peaceful tent camping trip.

Now I know a lot of people are scared by greenies locking up our tracks, but be assured this is about saving forests from mining and clearing. It won't be much fun if there's no forest to camp in!

yeah man your channel could really take off if you focus on it more
Nice to see a fairly stock Patrol in these videos . Now I can cancel my inferiority complex counselling because I dont have a 4 inch lift , Razor wire covered rock sliders and 37's
Glad I can help save money on the counselling 😄 yep it might not be the toughest looking thing out there but drive it right and they'll go anywhere!
Great one Alex. Nice chats.
And I feel your pain. The rant was appreciated.
It's nice to scroll through the comments and realise I'm not the only one aggrevated by this
@@Alex.G You are definitely not alone.
I was enjoying a nice tranquil beer in your tranquil part, so I did as you say! Looking to get a GU patrol (but the 2.8 6cyl) and do it up just like this, clean, near standard, just the important mods, nothing over the top, 32 or 33s, a slight lift and set up for camping. Very good. Also that pop up tent is really cool. Yeh deffo get a new fridge even the cheap Chinese compressor fridges are not far off silent nowadays and the one I got for like 400 bucks goes to minus 20c so you can use it as a freezer if you want.
Thanks for enjoying a tranquil beer with me! 😁 that sounds like a great patrol plan. I loved my old 2.8 patrol. And that tent is a winner. I wasn't a fan of tents til I tried this one!
Dude you two are classic. The chair flick got me rolling 😆
i feel your pain when fishing. i solved that problem by bringing beer when i go, by the time iv finished fishing, i don't care that iv caught nothing 😂😂😁
Preach it mate. I couldn’t agree more! Grinds my gears. Nonetheless fantastic video as always 👍🏻
Good onya mate. Sometimes you just gotta make the leap, say it and see who else agrees! Power in numbers 💪
Nice video Alex I must of missed it where is the fish box button
I thought it was odd you didn't make the first comment! I was concerned for your well being!
Such a great vibe with this one.
While I 100% agree with the whole logging of old growth forests being totally stupid (I work for a plantation timber company thats 100% renewable and has more land in conservation reserves than active plantations) there is a reason why log trucks are allowed into the die back areas and thats because its not winter. Its the same thing we've got over here in SA- Phytophthora. You can travel through those areas when the ground is dry as the fungal spores arent spread through dry soil and dust- it can only travel from site to site through wet soil and mud when its actively reproducing. NPWSA in South Aus has areas which get gated off as soon as it gets wet to restrict access in some parks but its no issue at all driving through them in summer.
4wd's are actually a massive issue for the spread of PC as people get them covered in mud and then dont clean their cars off and disinfect them (like land managers who have PC issues do) and then next weekend go off into another area, splash though more puddles, drop off infected mud and start a whole new patch off
Good to learn some facts there 👌
A really nice relaxed video. The nonsense with commercial interests being allowed to do stuff that is forbidden to the rest of us is hardy a surprise though. Long point down here is a prime example where we were banned from driving off road to 'protect' the area but then it was sold to developers who ripped everything out anyway. I really miss camping on the beach down there. The rule seems to be money first, people last. Try fresh bait rather then lures when you go fishing. Worms are usually a good bet but don't expect too much in freshwater, that is more about relaxing by the river bank with a tinnie in your hand than actually catching stuff :) I wish we could get away with such simple sleeping mats, far too old for that now, have to carry a trailer full of gear just to get a nights sleep.
Jolly bonza mate! I love this type of video, it fits you well.
Cheers Matt, I reckon our collabs are gonna be well received! 😁
@@Alex.G I was thinking the same thing man 😊 looking forward to it!
G'day Alex
Firstly I would like to say thank you for the time and effort that goes into the making of your videos and also for highlighting the issue regarding Alcoa and it's footprint in the southwest and people should understand that the resources sector has immense power which is often used to squeeze or to put pressure on government, be they local, state or federal, these buggers are all compliant when it comes to money rolling in and all that's needed is the rubber stamping of approvals for mining expansion and pretty much anything to do with allowing mining of a resource to proceed.
Greed and easy money are very powerful tools and the Pilbara is being disassembled because of this.
You also touched on the spread/infestation of the Blackberry bush and feral pigs, saying that the pigs and birds all like the berries, its all a bit like mining/miners and government.
Safe travels : Joe Fury
It is the same way here in America!!! it always pisses me off when log trucks and heavy equipment running on a track tearing the hell out of it, but we cant drive our 4x4 on it! I suck at fishing also, i try but never have any luck. good video mate!!
Same for me and my area.
Alex: Ahh so tranquil, beautiful water, nice coffee..
Engel: Don't mind me MMMRMMMHRMMMMRRMMMHRMMMMRMMMMRHMMMMM
Nice spot! I know that one well it’s close to my favorite spot a bit off The captain fawcett track! 😉 really sucks how much Alcoa have ruined the area though! 🤬
There are a few incredible spots along there 😁 each time I've been there in the last few years it's been logged and mined harder. Can't ever take the same roads in and some of the riverside spots all you hear is grinding machinery and reverse buzzers on the next hill! 😡
"The silencing of the rainforests is a double deforestation, not only of trees but a deforestation of the mind's music, medicine and knowledge." Cheers, Domenico.
a very tranquil peaceful and funny video now back to that noisy fridge Alex don't get rid of it keep it old Engels better than new engels
Mate you are bang on! It's dodgy what they get away with.
Come to SA mate... everything is closed, its F*&^ked ! We cant even think about 4x4's
🙁
Probably happen here in WA eventually
your right i live in harvey
5:05 literally me everytime i set up my chair
We need to stop buying all those alloy awnings and roof racks. But we won’t.
That's the painful thing about it, there's not really an easy fix! We could go back to making everything out of rocks and sticks, but then places will be torn up and the earth stripped bare of rocks and sticks 😂
@@Alex.G just plain to many people. Nature will fix it eventually. 😉
Couldn't agree more about the logging its fnk sull sh1t, I stopped recording a video as it pissed me off so much.
I totally understand that dude. I felt much better after ranting to the camera about it. And thought at the time I'd probably just cut the rant out of it. But it didn't come across as ugly and miserable as I expected 😁
So many 4x4 youtubers go on so many rants about political bullshit. Lately for example, the "closure" of Cape York. Thankyou for not responding to fake news, but actually providing source material and information in your description.
Blackberries go nuts here on the west coast of Canada too. In fall they are loaded and sweet. Highly invasive.
How many times have you ripped your arms to shreds seeking the good ones? 😄 I find it hard to get to them before the birds when they ripen up.
Camera never does do it justice when it comes to showing the natural beauty. Looks like a top spot mate.
Lov it buddy, your set up has come along way since your earlier days, wish my wife was like your better half, she did more than you 😂😂😂lol
your just about a good jibber jabber as mr Buckaroonie 😂😂😂😂😂
Yes your Engel is the noisiest I’ve ever heard 😅😅😅😅😅😀😀😀
Sold my new engal as it too was dam noisy.
Get a Bushman, expandable from 35 to 45 to 55 litres
Quiet
Very low power draw
Solid construction
great vid, the two dislikes are from the owners of Alcoa. haha!!!!!
I'll probably just disappear off the face of the earth after putting this out there. Silenced by the big mining corps 😄
@@Alex.G haha... lets hope not, need more vids to watch... lol
Angry with you. Trees are life, not toilet paper. Edited to add, keep the Engel! Box it up with ply and Carbuilders! Get SolarScreens too. New fridges suck the hairy ones.
Beautiful spot mate. Stuck in our hotel in UK so jealous as f...
That is a brutal contrast in locations 🙁
This world is so fucked 😢 Money comes before everything and it’s ruining our natural world. Enjoyed your video though! Happy to see y’all enjoying nature!
No mining means no cars, no camping equipment, no videos, no camping. The problem is, nobody wants mining in their backyard. Maybe more criticism is needed of NPWS who gate all the tracks, refuse to hazard burn and set up the forests for catastrophic wildfires that do just as much permanent damage as mining, just over much wider areas.
Loved the video mate. I’ve just bought a brand new Engle fridge & freezer. I couldn’t believe how noisy it was. So they obviously haven’t changed. Just thought I would warn you.
lane pool was a lot better before parks wildlife and vandals got a hold of it they bulldozed the best camping spot and turned it into a hot mix carpark the southern half after bob's crossing is now a death trap if there is a fire as all the surrounding tracks now have bloody great steel gates blocking them
Oh mate I remember that old Baden Powell camp before the hot mix. In with all the pine trees it was great. Except the hoons on weekends who would rip skids around the swags that wasn't so great 😬
Great video, Awesome.
Also good to see attention being brought to the double standards of society. The patches of deforestation is horrendous when looking on google earth.
WHERE are you camping? I don’t recognize it? It is a stealth camp or somewhere you’re permitted?
Our government has a lot to answer for!!!!!will check out the links below for sure!!
Yeah I've signed a few petitions, joined mailing lists and I'm trying to see if my video skills can be of use to them 😊
Yo! This video went DARK for a minute!
For getting outdoors and enjoying nature at it's best, you certainly complain a lot. Chill out and relax
As if complaining isn’t our national pass time....
Alcoa took over the area where our go-to camp site is, absolutely sucks.
How disappointing!
Ah here we go, just sat down to tuck in!
Throw the Engel out & get a Snomaster 👍
Never heard of that one. Where do you get em?
@@Alex.G Harry has one
Good to hear that you care about the environment. It’s hard to say things without getting labeled a “Greeny”. Keep up the fight man 🙌🏾
Thanks for the comment :)
Got to agree with alot of the comments alex this one seemed so nice and relaxed mate. Top job as always. Also very disappointed in the burger patties dangummit...
I knew you would not love them 😂 cheers mate
I went camping down there a couple of months ago but headed south before the bridge. Had a great spot but could hear the hum of the conveyors all night.
Yeah that conveyor gets almost deafening on a quiet night hey!
Its Abom79's sound track!
Love your vids and humour mate
Identical setup and 4WD to mine
Love my Helinox chairs got the zero 450grams
The only difference is I would have been catching instead of fishing
Takes years to be in the 5% club
My mate just got a couple of the zero chairs, they are brilliant! Glad to know it's not just because I'm crap at fishing, just gotta work harder to make that 5% I guess! 😁
@@Alex.G
Got tired of waiting for fish to get on the bite
I now use a speargun as I’m always on the bite!
Whilst I agree with the inconsistency of laws, I should expect that Alcoa has an agreement in place to restore the areas on completion of work.
On another note, if you want fish at a riverside camp, drop in to the local fish shop before you leave home. 🤭😊🤔🤣🐟🍤🦞👍🏻🙏🏽😷🦘
solution to the pillow problem. bring a second flatter pillow. also try fly fishing in those slow flow areas
Yeah I might add to my expanding sea to summit collection with one of their compact pillows and give that a go then!
Great video mate :) As you know, I've been following you since the first Dwellingup video dropped all those years ago and now I'm glad you revisited the area to make another one. I'm going to have to visit Go Camping and get a Helinox for myself one day soon!!! Cheers, Don (Dons Shed and Xplor Overland)
Awesome style mate cool chick too👍😎
She does good 👌 knows how to work a camp setup!
Great video mate. Your a very good story teller 😁 Thank You
I agree. 👌
Black krim/ Russian tomatoes? Or overdone bacon.
Haha yeah black tomatoes. Rhiannon loves em.
hot tip for the area, lots of wild mint that grows along the river which go great for mojitos
Of course! That's what I smelled! Must have disturbed it walking down for my doomed fishing mission
You make me feel guilty working for Alcoa now
We are all hypocrites to some extent. I work in mining too but am not happy about some of the things that go on. I haven't been involved in any really bad projects.
Mark here is onto it, and as another comment said in here we won't stop buying our fancy aluminium awnings and roof racks. I just put in that brand new aluminium drawer system which I guess could contain a small percentage of those campsites that got annihilated for bauxite mining 😂 reality is we all have to put food on the table and nobody should be made feel guilty for doing that 🙂
Always love your work Alex 👍👍
Love your videos and the simplicity of what camping should be. 👍👍 keep up the great work.
Nice spot guys and good to give to the government every now and then. 👍👍
I can tell by the way your line was hitting the water was way too heavy and honestly in a spot like that I'd probably just use a bobber
Hey mate just found your channel I am in the market for a 4X4 for overlanding and weekend Camping. I have the MUX and the Toyota Prado in mind but I was wondering how are the GU Patrol ZD30? and if you had any issues? cheers
We also have an MUX, and I know a lot of people with Prados. If you have the budget and you're not looking to do insane 4wding I'd choose one of them. The GU isn't as comfortable, and while I've been lucky and had very few issues with the ZD30, they are notoriously one of the most unreliable engines put in a 4x4. Patrols are great though in that they are cheap, easy to fix, have massive aftermarket options, can be built as wild as you like them.
@@Alex.G cheers mate!
@@Alex.G Hey Mate I just found a really good deal on a Patrol zd30 with all the mods. I am thinking of getting it. If there is any problems them Ill just have to get a 4.2 ENGINE SWAPPED IN HAHAHA
@@jf9866 yeah sometimes you've just gotta adopt a "cross that bridge when I come to it" mindset and jump on a bargain 😁
@@Alex.G Hell Yeah mate! This is one of those times. With no fear just Buy hahahahaha
that pillow issue is s pain had it in the swag all weekend ended up using my dryzabone for a pillow
Camp site location looked spot on.
Goodinya Alex, great vid mate.. keep it up... JB
Haha, we love the humour you put in your videos! Awesome work man!
Is this Alex or the US dude? I can't tell the difference.
Another great clip mate 👍
Just watch eating too many wild blackberries, had a friend find a big bunch like that, he overloaded like it was an ‘all you can eat buffet’ and he’s never been the same since, thinking they maybe been sprayed with poison 😬🤷🏻♂️
Good clip bud
Oh shit! Yeah that makes me nervous so I don't eat them too often. Did They give him permanent digestive problems?
@@Alex.G no not digestive issues, very sound mental health problems arose not long after which I attribute to them, it was literally weeks if not months after eating a crapload of them. It may not have been the blackberries but it would not surprise me in the slightest if it was either. Just too damn coincidental
Woowww yeah that's spooky! Well...if my videos start getting strange you know why! 😬
@@Alex.G 😁🤷🏻♂️
🤔
Good stuff
your vid popped up in my feed, glad it did, great video, subbed and now to look through some others
heading off tomorrow morning, so cant stay up late
Thanks mate! Glad to have you around 🙂
Maaate veggie patties wtf!!! Hahahaaaaa
Coupla worms on a paternoster rig and a bell on the tip of your rod, then sit back have a tin and listen for the bells, let the redfin catch themselves.
That sounds like a much more chilled way to do it 😁
Bloody great video mate! Good old Engel just going strong!
Do you always complain this much?
Only when there's a damn good reason to
@@Alex.G lol.
Have not seen someone sleep in a tent for ages
Yeah they've really given way to the swag! I was off them for years with some bad experiences but I've enjoyed playing around with tent setups quite a bit lately
@@Alex.G I have a swag but prefer the small tent that I can stand up in
When with the wife
That Engel... Just banging away...
Literally. Sounds like two cats in a tumble drier.
@@Alex.G I love it when you're sound asleep, and then suddenly you think a lawnmower is coming through your camp in the middle of the night. Over and over again...
A great relaxing content as always, thanks
Very therapeutic always a good laugh
Awesome vid mate, love dwelly
Good video mate.
Money talks
13:10 nice piece
Awesome video mate!
Anyone know the brand of awning is on the patrol?
I do! 😁 Eezi-awn. And the model is the 'Bat 270'
@@Alex.G haha thanks i didn't know if you would see it, been wanting a 270 awning that didn't weigh 30kgs and that one looked a bit lighter
Yeah same for me. 21kg that one and much more compact than others
New Engels use a lot less power than the old models
Yeah she is quite a guzzler I've noticed! On a hot day like that I'll need to charge the battery the next day.
@@Alex.G lithium?
@@lastknownlocation8760 Nah 105ah wet cell deep cycle under the bonnet of this one
You made a good choice buying the Sea to Summit mats. I've had one for 3 years, used it regularly, & it's still like new. A tip for your under awning lighting, if you can get yellow led lights they are less attractive to the flying bugs.
That's a good tip! Might see if I can get a colour change one. Go full yellow when there's lots of bugs around, go white when it's pretty clear
Same the world over some politician will be getting his hand greased over the mining rights.
Ridiculous right!? Big political donations need to be abolished and there needs to be way better transparency!
@@Alex.G I do not know of any country where this happens . Do not believe in democracy. I live in the UK and feel as though i have less rights then communist countries. The only difference is they do not disguise it.
I'm pro mining, the trees will grow back once the mine moves on. Without mines to produce raw materials, there are no solar panels and no wind turbines.
Top spot mate!
