Roasting pumpkin seeds!

  • This year at Rod Ridge Farm, we grew our own pumpkins. After the girls carved their pumpkins, we cleaned and roasted the seeds. I wasn't sure of what spices would be best, so we went with chili powder as I had seen recommended. We roasted the seeds for about 24 minutes, being sure to stir a few times(I almost forgot to do that). Once the seeds cooled enough to eat, we enjoyed a healthy snack. They tasted like popcorn, almost. It is also perfectly fine to eat the seeds raw, though, in my opinion, they didn't have much taste. You can also eat the seeds with shells on or without. There is more fiber to be enjoyed if yiu leave the shells on. #homesteading #growyourown #pumpkins #roasted #selfsufficient

    Growing up I never had family that did any canning or preserving except pickles. I will definitely be doing these.
