I had to dual Justifiers set up for my Sega Genesis and played the hell out of Lethal Enforcers. My wife and I logged a ton of hours with Area 51 on the PS1. I really miss light gun games, like the mad said, they are pure fun.
I hope you continue to enjoy and relive the Glory Days of light gun games and like you said the best part is no additional sensors. Just kind of point and go simple and accurate.. Game On MLP!
Yes! The white frame is critical to making Sinden-based light guns work on any display, especially LCD. It's a shame Namco didn't make a Sinden-based Guncon for PS4 or PS5 yet. Time Crisis 5 and Point Blank X have yet to get home ports.
I absolutely love the Sinden lightgun, easily one of the best gaming peripherals I've ever bought. Some emulators need more setup then others but Sega Model 2 stuff works amazing, Dreamcast is very easy and I've even got Virtua Cop 3 working through an Xbox emulator
The only thing I don't like about the SInden guns is that white border plus ambient lighting can affect it. I like the Gun4IR tech, it uses sensors but seems to track better and is arguably more reliable. Also you can let your imagination go wild on crazy and unique gun builds. Each to his own though.
I have Sinden LGs as well as others like Retro Shooter. My advice to avoid the Sinden setup challenges is to get a Batocera build on an external HD that is plug n play. However, this doesn't include the more recent games including Teknoparrot, for which you will need a different LG e.g. Gun4IR or Retro Shooter.
if you have a good pc or laptop you can self boot batocera light gun builds that have been released. I tried the 128gb retro lizard light gun build and it works great. So much better than coin ops next and mame. There are many batocera builds out there too, including steam deck.
It has only been a few months since i discovered these light gun gsme emulation devices. Had no idea tbey were a thing, and now im just blown away by them. Cant wait to see how they improve after a few years. May have to set up a custom arcade cabinet. The fact you got this working on a Pi 4 is mijd blowing.
I got a pair the GRS Shotguns for my A1up Big Buck Hunter Deluxe. They feel better than the arcade guns. Amazing quality. I can also use them with my PC. Very happy with them.
I was hoping to see more reviews on this shotgun. Light gun games are fun playing with a friend. I use WII motes in a black plastic glock which looks good and feels good but nothing beats Sinden guns.
initial support for Sinden games in Batocera came out for Batocera 35. But there has been updates and fixes in later releases of Batocera. Ill reply to this comment with a link to the changlog for all versions of Batocera. If there is no reply then the link was nuked by UA-cam
Honestly? I prefer Retro Shooter (on a PC)... I own both Sindens and the RS kit, and the Sindens are much more finicky, have shaky tracking, cheaper-feeling guns, worse trigger feel, worse gun weight balance, harder setup, and that terrible white border. They're also more expensive for no apparent reason. Sindens were cool for doing what they did 3 years ago, but there are much better options now... try a Retro Shooter MX24 and report back!
You just reminded me that I wanted those for long :) We have an arcade for a few weeks now in the city I live in and I use to play Jurassic Park whenever I get the chance. I know, I have multiple VR headsets and those are essentially made to be used with shooters, but playing something like House of the Dead on a screen with a Lightgun is something else.
I sold my Amtrak’s to get the Retroshooters, and now I might sell those for Sinden. Retroshooters so far work great. Four sensor upgrade made a big diff. The box itself has had a lot of upgrades and games added. Works better now and lots of great missing arcade shooters. And the retro shooters work great on my PC in batocera and with a retrobat build for newer 3D titles. But man. No sensors and easier plug and play with Sinden. Might be worth it.
Great video! Tried the Sindens but didn't work in my arcade due to the lights in the room. Requiring the border around the gameplay is a tad distracting, but it wasn't a big issue to me. I just could not get the tracking to work due to room lighting. The recoil was awsome though. Switched to Gun4IR and that solved it. Also using the RetroShooters with the PC Hub.
I've found that playing rail shooters like Drop Dead on my Quest 2 scratches the light gun itch quite a bit. I still do use my PS2 and Trinitron for some traditional light gun action with Time Crisis and Area 51 (The Namco GunCon 1/2 is so much better than the Konami Justifier)
We have a arcade in California called Neon Retro Arcade really cool spot and you only have to pay to get in while the arcades are free to play they even have Nintendo Switches set up at the back to play smash and Mario Kart
Can't remember the channel but there's a guy has files to print your own gun to set up with the siden lightgun kits. He recently started selling ones put together as well. I wish I remember lol. I completely forgot until this vid.
That little bit of lag is a deal breaker for me. The cross hair drag on any sort of these IR or Sinden Guns is what prevents it from being 1:1 like a CRT
I find Retrobat much better than Batocera if you are doing things yourself. Still plug and play with the guns, but because it's windows based adding games is super simple.
I have have a light gun for switch I use it on house of the dead remake switch and a few other light gun games on switch it works good with a few of the light gun games on n64 online games
Hey MLP. I'm not sure if it's still available but on etsy you could buy some stocks for the sinden pistol and it gives it a shotgun feel to it. I bought one for my black sinden gun and it feels great. 👍
I really, really, really need a Sinden in a rifle configuration, so I can play Alien 3: The Gun without it feeling odd that I'm holding a little pistol or a shotgun.
Do you have to use the mouse style reticle? With the original games, you would just aim down the barrel and the gun to aim and shoot. This is the way that they really should be. Otherwise it feels like you're cheating.
@@eapleitez Good to know. Are these guns accurate enough to aim by using the gun's sighting alone? I used to play games like Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley, and Gumshoe, with the Zapper, on a 24" CRT from about 8 feet away. It seemed very accurate for such a gun. Same with the GunCon and GunCon², when playing Point Blank and Time Crisis 2. (Those were on a 35" JVC CRT, from about 10 feet away. I just think that it feels much more rewarding to shoot (and hit) without moving a cursor around on screen. At that point you'd might as well just use a Wii Remote, Move, or even a mouse.
@matthenzel8930 yes it generally is, for most games that I've tried. On some games there sometimes is a delay, like the invisible cursor doesn't keep up quite as fast to the line of sight. For example the Naomi Extreme Hunting games I have a hard time with accuracy. But HOTD2, Confidential Mission, games on MAME, games on TeknoParrot have been very playable for me
So....someone please give me a Straight answer, can I set this up on my projector if I put the sensors around my screen like I would any other TV? (I'm guessing not because it would be too dope)
Why don't they make it downloadable for new consoles with upgraded graphics. This is million dollar idea. Also if u could actually use sights and red dots. With the icon on screen.
I never had any luck getting the Sinden light gun to track properly...don't know if it's because of my 16 by 10 aspect monitor or what. Now it collects dust and I stick to console light gun games on a CRT, most of which just work without any fuss.
Basically the software for the sinden light gun makes it so that the gun works like a mouse without having to push it against a mouse pad. In the video here you can even see a mouse cursor on the screen as MLP is using the gun. The mouse cursor can also be turned off during play. So it can really work with any software although some might need it patched in.
I agree with some comments here, $250 is too much for this. These games have low replay. And it’d b cheaper to just get a Wii and play these for a fraction of the cost.
Love me some light gun action! But this aint no fifty bucks pick up and play gun. Maybe in the future, I get it's a niche item and not mass produced but $250, ouchie.
Cheating with those crosshairs, lol. I've had a pair of Sindens from the initial Indigogo campaign. Using it with Windows, it's more setup than Batocera, but it does open up more modern games available.

I hated how light gun games kind of died off at home when everyone switched over to modern tvs
The technology wasn't there yet.
Have you tried newer released ""House of the Dead:::OverKill"" for the Wii ? ?
They does out way before that because , you know, guns are bad if you ask the leftists.
@@WildDanHibiki it still isnt really, these are sluggish compared to crt lightguns
@@wyldelf2685it’s still not the same even on a tube…can’t really play it like a light gun even with the icon off.

Light guns were the only reason I had a hard time selling my retro game collection...I still miss having a CRT and proper light guns.
Really miss the light gun games from back in the day. Wished they'd make a comeback. 🙂
Time crisis was the shiz in the arcade!
Perfect timing! Been wanting to play the light gun games for a mighty long time and now find this video in my feed. Good looking out, bud.
I hope you continue to enjoy and relive the Glory Days of light gun games and like you said the best part is no additional sensors. Just kind of point and go simple and accurate.. Game On MLP!
You looking like Elmer Fudd with that shotgun. 🤣🤣🤣
lmao he does
💀😂
nah man you got it all wrong he looks like xanadu from kof 14!
Be vewwy vewwy quiet 🤫 he’s pandering for Glens overpriced retro crap.
Got 2 recoils and love them. Brings back older games, don’t notice the white border, easy setup. Have fun !!!
Light Gun Games were awesome back in the day. I'm glad this worked out well.

I tried and bought them all. ALL. Sinden aimtrak ecc the only One that works fine for me Is the gun4ir
And it's like 3x the price. Or a box of bits you have to assemble. No thanks.

Great to hear. As long as both Snatcher and Carnevil can be played this way, I think I might eventually get that
Looks Kool .... But wow $250.00 a Piece Is way too expensive for retro light gaming for me personally

what im waiting for is one that works with modern tvs straight hooked up to the original consoles.
Same here. I need one for the Saturn I just got
If you understand how the games were programmed to work wit the CRT technology, you'll understand why that is probably never going to happen.
Original consoles MUST be connected to their time correct TV. Why Is that so difficult to understand for some people

Looks decent but a wiimote on batocera is flawless. It used to suck years ago but now it's sick
They need to make one of these for modern consoles, using gyros to play those modern light gun games like The House of the Dead remake are unreliable.
yeah i would get one for my Xbox for sure
I really, really, really need a Sinden in a rifle configuration, so I can play Alien 3: The Gun without it feeling odd that I'm holding a little pistol or a shotgun.
OH wow..i need these modded foe my atomiswave and some Steam games of mine!!❤
Wish them Polymega guns would release....
Cool good to know, but I'm Still having a blast with my lightguns and games for Ps1,ps2, ps3🤘🏻
Can you use these on any original hardware?
Do you have to use the mouse style reticle? With the original games, you would just aim down the barrel and the gun to aim and shoot. This is the way that they really should be. Otherwise it feels like you're cheating.
Emulator crosshairs and mouse cursors can usually be disabled. Except for certain arcade games (like T2) had crosshairs built in.
