Love the car ! I like seeing the growth of your channel in such short time! As another aspiring channel trying to improve on myself and my own videos, I subbed! Best of luck!
Something I’ve noticed about coils is that, in general, people don’t turn the damping up enough in their coils. That bouncy-ness you describe is because rebound and compression damping aren’t controlling the spring properly. Just having a tiny bit of damping control can really change the way the car feels when driving. Let me know if you want to nerd out about suspension. I’m in the middle of figuring it out.
Haha I don't know anything about suspension but what I've noticed about these Maxpeedingrods coilovers is that in the rear they are using springs that are a little too weak which makes them very bouncy. Sadly you also can't adjust the dampeners but what I've noticed is, if you give the springs some more preload, the bounciness get's a little better.
@@moritzherr that’s because when you increase preload, you’re increasing mass over that corner. Natural frequency is sqrt (spring rate/mass). So you’re moving the natural frequency down, which means when it bounces, it will bounce slower and that damper can work better. Now you can increase preload all around and it might help a little but this effect will only work basically at one corner at a time because you’re just moving mass distribution around not changing the overall mass of the system.
@@mrs_radrod I have to say for $325 they perform "good enough". The front feels very good tbh but the only problem is the back. In the front it is not bouncy at all but the rear is all over the place😂 I don't know how much more preload I can put on the rear springs because I already got a pretty good amount set. I guess my only 2 options would be either getting stronger springs or in general a proper set of coilovers😅
@@moritzherr stronger springs would be bad. You need to be able to adjust damping. Damping requirements change depending on ride height, spring rate, preload, etc. Get some digressive rate coils. They allow you to take bumps in roads and blow off the energy in the coils and help maintain stability.
@@mrs_radrod seconding mrs_radrod here. Having at least adjustable rebound will make a night and day difference and you absolutely wont regret it. A 200hp car with good suspension will be more fun to drive than a 400hp car with a poorly setup suspension in everything except straight lines. Adjustible dampening will mean you can have a good suspension setup for daily driving, bad mountain roads and track. Its simply more smiles per miles The most important part to consider when deciding on springs is what your actual applications are. Where do you actually drive the car? Be honest. its a very common pitfall to setup a car for track and then spend 99% of your driving cruising down the street or racing poor-quality mountain roads with your teeth clattering. I only track my car once a year or so and feel i made a perfect choice running progressive springs. Most of my driving is poor quality twisty roads or even gravel so having that soft top and stiff bottom absorbs the small stuff while stopping me from bottoming out.

Yes and Yes😅 Parts are scarce and very expensive! But that's just the sad reality of owning an old japanese car... FC's vary in price depending on the general condition. Generally I would recommend getting one with a good engine and all in all very clean condition. If you don't have enough mechanical knowledge and if you get one in a poor condition, you're screwed because the parts you need to make it clean and to get it mechanically sound are so expensive. So if you're interested in one, make sure to get a clean on with a good engine. In this case they're sadly pretty expensive. I got mine for 19k and put another 20k into it in parts.

Takumis AE86 yes... But if you look up Ryosukes FC there are multiple images and screenshots where the stickers are on both sides.
