Mom was looking out each window trying to see what view we got. Then she inspected the fridge and cabinets to see if she needed to buy us any food. Every night they claimed I was cooking too much food and that they would be eating off it for days. Then my dad was people watching the neighbors. They kept me laughing.

You can depend on older folks to keep up with family records. It’s an official document detailing the birth and death of someone. The grandmas and their folks would keep good records of who you came from back in the day.
That brought back memories of momma humming hymns and praising the Lord ALL THROUGH DA HOUSE. Waking us kids up early kicking us outside to play or making us clean while playing gospel music.
And the older I get I see me turning into my mom & grandmother with the hymns around the house & if my 18 yr old was driving I'd tell her imma let you take me to work & pick me up & be 45 minutes early bc that's about the time I start disappearing 🤣

This reminds me so much of my grandmother (we called her Mama) and her sisters. The last one of my Great Aunts passed a couple of months ago. The keepsake I kept of here was of course one of her many Jesus decorative plates. We laughed about them when we were growing up, but it was the thing that meant the most to me when it came right down to it.
