I hear a lot of people do not like using a converter for the Kaweco sport because it is so small and doesn't hold much ink. You can also refill the cartridges with syringe with a blunt needle!

Oh, thanks for the tip! I currently have those normal cartridges for the sport, so I will definitely give it a try 😁

It's really common for people to do an 'eye dropper conversion' on Kaweco pens, since they're so easy to do it with. That allows you to use the entire barrel as your ink reservoir, instead of the tiny converters or wasteful plastic cartridges. There are plenty of videos on how to do it!

I didn't know, thanks for sharing. I will give it a try 😄

Thank u 4 sharing. Just recently got into fountain pens as well. I love to wright/journaling and such and I’ve used mostly ink pens and rollerballs. Fountain pens really took my interest into the next level. Enjoy ur trip through the fountains.

They do still sell the Parker around here! It was the pen I used during all my school years!

Yeah me too! I do see Parker pens around still, I just don't like their current designs 😄

Out of curiosity, would you recommend any of these brands over the other for a first-time fountain pen buyer? I have small hands, but only plan to get one (or two maximum) because I want to get into fountain pens for sustainability reasons. Thank you!

Yeah, I'd say Lamy and Kaweco are nice brands to start with. But if you have a store near you when you can do a writing test, it would be even better. Because picking a fountain pen that fits your hand is important 😄 If it fits any brand will do.

Both jet pens and Goulet pens allow you to filter by size and weight. I also have very small hands (I wear kid's gloves) and find those filters very helpful to get rid of the chonky pens. There's also a category on both for beginner pens. There are a lot of popular choices for a small starter pen - lamy safari, kaweco sport, the smaller twsbis, pilot kakuno, platinum preppy. It depends on what features you value and how much you want to spend.

what size nib is the orange student pen?

I think it's the fine one. My writing is quite small so I usually go for extra fine or fine with Kaweco 😄
