I do wonder why this game is reportedly so bad when Size Matters is actually rather good, Secret Agent Clank is the only game in the series I have not played.
The actual seething nerd rage directed at it is mostly by people who never played it. The game had the misfortune of being silly during Ratchet's 2deep4u ebic storyline phase, so it got a lot of flak for not fitting in with all that "Ratchet is the chosen one" stuff. It's a decent game, maybe even good. Very flawed, though. Flaws include: -Not enough weapons and ammo for Clank -Extremely stingy bolt economy -NG+ boss fights are just as bad as Size Matters -The game urges you to use stealth takedowns, but doing this prevents your weapons from gaining XP -Some of the stages just keep going and going, especially some of the gadgebot and Qwark levels -The music is a step down from Size Matters -The skill points are the stuff of nightmares -Quick time events That sounds pretty bad. But, the game has good qualities too: -The Ratchet arena levels are some of the best in the franchise with a variety of creative locations, gimmicks and challenges -The Clank stages are actually pretty fun to go through, warts and all -There's a lot of charming and creative ideas in both the art direction and level design. Standouts include a prison shower level that's deep in the ocean (to get the coldest possible water), a planet that has a new year every few seconds so it's perpetually celebrating, an opera that Qwark puts on for an audience of ameboids, the venice canals mixed with a radioactive sewer, a Qwark story where his only allies are those little animal shaped sponges that you get by submerging a capsule in water, the vending machines are phone booths with a trapdoor, Clank's weapons are disguised objects -Some of the gimmick levels are extremely fun, like the poker game that features a war between gadgebot and tiny enemy robots below the table -The High Impact Games treehouse is way more fun to unlock than other games, and it's full of good stuff -Lots of cameos from forgotten Going Commando enemies -The whole game fits on a tiny PSP disc -Qwark's opera (including the omitted lines)
This whole game is certainly "one of nature's mysteries"
This is truly a game of it's time

I may consider getting it, it's the last one for the collection after all :P
