Definitely missed Rayman 2 and Yooka Laylee. I'd even argue for Psychonauts 2 or It takes 2 but I certainly wouldn't rate A Hat in Time above Rayman 2.
SM64 will always be the ultimate 3d platformer, rightfully so. I would say Spyro 1 should be #2. Banjo Kazooie is a good game, but I think it's a tiny step down from SM64 and Spyro, the gameplay is a little tedious and backtracky sometimes.
I enjoyed crash time trials and all. But remaster was my 1st go at them. Handful on here I need to give a go in the 1st 5. 1 was already on my radar of the 3.
Psychonauts is up there as one of my all time favorite 3D platformers, the amount of variety in that game is virtually unmatched, plus it has some of the best writing this genre has ever seen.
Psychonauts 2 is one of my favorite Platformers of all time. It’s one of the very few Platformers I’ve played that legitimately had me invested in the story.
Jak 1 would have been great if it just would have allowed you to skip those damn cutscenes they completely ruined the replay value for me...definitely better then it's sequels tho
I have played 4 of these so far. Never had an N64, so I am still missing all of those. Definitely want to check them out some day. Probably gonna play them on the Switch at some point. Well, except DK64 I guess, as they still haven't added that one to the Switch as far as I know.

It took me years to get to it (like last year) but I finally tried both Banjo games on the 64 and it is true. They are stellar and I adore them. I personally actually like Tooie ever so slightly better, just because it did so much more than Banjo-Kazooie, which is all I wanted. More Banjo. 😁

For me, Kirby and the Forgotten land has deserved a spot on my list. It has taken a long long time for Kirby to make the jump to 3D; but to do it so flawlessly is a testament to how fundamentally fun and flexible the core Kirby formula is.
It's better in the narrative stuff, but gameplay wise I wouldn't say it's better. The hoverboots were a fun addition in that game, but are infinitely better in rift apart for example. The gunplay as well. Rift Apart has more refined platforming and many more platforming segments overall as well. ACIT is my favorite game in the franchise as well, but Rift Apart is undeniably better in lots of stuff.
I feel one of the Mario slots could have been filled by a Kirby game (Forgotten Land was AMAZING) but it makes sense due to how genre defining Mario has become.
I'm still waiting for Donkey Kong 64 to come to Nintendo Switch Online 😭 Like I have it on Nintendo 64 already, but I want that portability and HD-ness, baby!~
Super Lucky:s Tale, though not mentioned but shown briefly, was a big surprise for me. Absolutely loved it. Also if you have the PSVR1 it is a must that you play Astro Bot Rescue Mission.

Tooie was absolutely incredible. I grew up playing both but as much as I loved kazooie, I never understood why tooie was never viewed as superior to kazooie when it seems so obvious that tooie is just objectively better.
@@benknight6516 I wouldn't go as far to say it's "objectively" better. Some aren't as keen with how expanded everything got like with DK 64. I loved it though. I got more absorbed in finding every little thing as a kid with all the world's being interconnected. I even liked Grunty Industries! (I'm a fan of the run down industrial ascetic)
They nerfed so much in Psychonauts 2, like the dynamic conversations and worse, the levitation ball physics, one of the most fun power ups I've ever played. I like #2 a lot but I still love the first Psychonauts better. You just feel like you can go anywhere you can see, where the sequel has so many invisible walls and limits, half the magic was exploring every inch of the camp.
Dk64 being in top 10 3d platformers of all time is definitely a hot take but I agree that its super underappreciated and overhated. Some people even blame it for being the downfall of 3d plat/collectathons due to its bloated nature but it was still so damn good. Maybe I'm blinded by nostalgia but bk and dk64 are 2 of the most memorable game sive ever played

you want the peak of ratchet and clank? Play the classic trilogy. Going Commando is the best of them all, but Up Your Arsenal is good in its own way taking a different approach from Going Commando
Great list!! For my #1, it has to be Super Mario Galaxy. Perfect gameplay aside, something about that first game is just so pitch perfect in its tone and atmosphere.

I really love Rift Apart. Unfortunately it just feels so short and to me doesn't have the replayability I wish it did.
you want the peak of ratchet and clank? Play the classic trilogy. Going Commando is the best of them all, but Up Your Arsenal is good in its own way taking a different approach from Going Commando
because of game pass, and starting games and never finishing them, i am revisiting Psychonauts 2. Amazing platformer.

Perfect gameplay aside, something about that first game is just so pitch perfect in its tone and atmosphere.
